I have been wondering, after flashing custom roms, will i have a chance to lose my premium navigation licence which perhaps i purchased or entered the voucher code which i get from the box?
To those who used the voucher or purchased, did u lose the licence or it will sync back in the licence? Where is the licence stored btw, in ur phone or on server according to imei?
And also, for the premium navigation voucher code, is it lifetime or dated?
Thanks in advance to all replies
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I recently flashed my first custom rom, wiping everything before. Didn't sync anything back, still the premium navigation is working fine (30 days test license). On the first run it will pop up the usual activation screen, so I suspect the license is saved on a server and bound to your IMEI.
I was on my 2nd 30 day trial yesterday, before my first trial expired I flashed my phone back to stock with a RUU (1.32) and I got to activate premium navigation for another 30 days, however when i upgraded locations today it removed the 2nd license
The licence is bound to you IMEI. If you ever send your phone in to htc make sure you record your imei first. If they replace the handset they will need both the old and new imei to transfer the licence.

Not everyone gets one. Its a promotional code and comes as an extra from certain carriers and resellers. Kinda like some stores will throw in a free car charge and deals along those lines.

Damn, that’s disappointing. I just flashed Revolution HD and formatted SD card and when I synced my license it changed my Navigation License expiry again, probably the DRM ID on the key must have to match the phone or something like that is stopping it. maybe just copy the time and grace values in to your current key then sync? I'm just guessing...
EDIT:
I was comparing my old phone.dat with my new one and I noticed a couple of things that might help. the first was that they have since done a version upgrade of locations and I don't know if that fixed anything, the second was after i had entered in my random values to the key, when I synced the license it reset all of the values back in my phone.dat to default but I now have 2 keys instead of one
Here is my experience. In my case my DHD came with a voucher license for one free navigation. I activate it and an email was send to my email stating tht i have one "Perpetual license" of the country i choose to my phone IMEI.
Just recently, i 'root' my phone, format my mSD so that i can create EXT3 partition and flash a custom rom. I do a full wipe for the flash. I have to download again the maps tht i need but the moment i request for navigation, the program gave me 3 options, Buy, Voucher or Sync License. I choose Sync License, and i got back my navigation for my country.
so flash custom rom to ur heart desire.... HD
I find this rather strange. When I got my phone in November the phone part in premium navigation didn't work, after a reboot it worked and has ever since. The premium navigationhas worked almost daily ever since. I've not activated or put any codes / purchased any licences. Have I missed something or am I just lucky?
Cheers
AFAIK you can onli flash sense-based ROMs like android Revolution ROM though to enjoy the htc navigation.
aggghhh, spoke too soon, it went to 30day trial today, not bad i suppose ive been using it since begining of november.
i dont think i will purchase when it runs out - having no postcode search is the deal breaker tbh
I think premium navigation doesn't reserve any paid from me. Should wait for google navigation come to my country..

Hi, I have the premium key for carpanel. But after I rooted my phone, I noticed that custom ROMs are not installed with it. Is there anyway we can get the APK so I can at least activate with my own key?
i'm not asking for a crack version. just the original one so I can install it back on.
Wat if i using HTC Kindom ROM ?? I can't found any Htc Premium Navigation ><
anyone help us please!!!
Hi, apologies for reviving this thread, but was looking to put on a custom ROM to my HTC Vision, and the topic of this thread is what is holding me off until now since I paid fifty euro for my permanent premium navigation
So after reading all the posts in this thread, can I safely assume that as long as I flash a ROM which also contains Sense, I will be able to keep my premium navigation?
Thanks for your time and help guys

i have subscribed to the zune service paying each month for the service...i thought this would give me the eqivilant to spotify that i had on my android device However, when i click on albums to either stream or download (from the handset) it asks me if i want to buy...i thought i was paying a subscription for free unlimited streaming or download same as spotify.
can anyone advise me please
also is it possible to get spotify on my phone
thanks
I think you have to tap and hold on the album/song to get a download option, here's a video: http://www.wpcentral.com/how-get-zune-pass-work-on-the-go-windows-phone-7.
As for Spotify, that was announced as coming with Mango but not sure which countries.
When I hold the only option I get is to buy the item. Seems odd considering I am paying for it.

When you setup your phone, the login must be the same one used for Zune. Not the second or third...the first.
If you have done it any other way you must hard reset and start over.
If the phone login is the same as your Zune login and it does not work, call Zune support to help you.

Annoying? This is the way it has been since day one. Its mentioned in the startup guide. Efjay pointed you to the video. All the MS documents online point to this. All the Zune docs point to this. For problems of this nature, how to's, keep WindowsPhone.com in mind. Phone setup, configurations snd how to documentation is great. XDA is great for the more difficult problems.
Sorry for raising a thread on what was clearly quite 'simple' issue to some...it was annoying the gell out of me! Don't be like that. Annoying and Challenging are 2 different things. XDA is a great source of issues, resolutions, work arounds, and challenging problems. On XDA you will find great ideas, fun experiences, and, a sound kick in the butt if you don't do your research before posting a problem. If you search and do NOT find what you're looking for, there are dozens of people ready to help. But....if you do not do the search before posting....there are dozens of people ready to remind you of that before they help.
Thats just the way it is...and it makes no difference if you're a premium user, or just a bum like me. The same rule applies for us all.
How MS, or any other company, designs their solutions, is always open to debate. Annoying and irritating simply cloud the issue. Android and Apple require a login on their phone for their services. If you do not use the same or correct login, you will not get your apps restored, or access to many of the histories saved with those services....to include backup and restore, and Music. Thats just the way it is. XDA premium users have little influence on those design methods.
Sorry if I offended you with my reply. That was not my intent. Reminding you that a little research would have allowed you to find the answer, and see that the resolution was not clouded, hidden, or designed to cost you a premium subscription to XDA, was my only point. If you're annoyed at the way things are...I'm afraid there is not a reasonable resolution available on these forums.
BTW..how does one become a premium subscriber to XDA?
your response seemed a little 'sharp' and in my opinion was not really necessary...i received good advice on here, it solved my problem, and i thanked those concerned.
By 'premium' i mean i pay for the app to support the cause and not just use the free downloaded one
Anyways moving on....
Point made.

Looks like Windows 8 expires next year on 1/15. Any way to disable that function so that it doesn't lock down my computer?
Why?
I any case, there'll be a public beta released in the next few months I'd say anyway.
moved to general - not development
I'm not sure you can. Also, it technically isn't deactivated, but rather nuetered. It doesn't get updates, force shut downs every 2 hours, you can't access free MS software, ect. Basically, it drives you mad until you go so insane you get forced into upgrading.

no one said anything about software piracy. Also, one can only illegally use windows IF they use an illegal key. Disabling/enabling windows activation files for development / testing purposes, is not so long as they dont use any product key at all. Plus, there are built in commands to extend the activation period for a set amount of times and can be reset 3 times.

using a product outside of its original intended use, hacked or stolen, is still piracy, you are using something that you have not paid for, whether or not there are exploits to get around that is irrelevant. Dude, it costs next to nothing to buy it so just buy it an feel good that your supporting developers rather than trying to rip them off
Sent from my SGH-i937 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Oh, "outside original intended use" is pretty much what hacking is all about. Mind you, that's usually a matter of adding functionality, not of bypassing license restrictions (which is exactly what the OP is asking for, and is, by all intents and purposes, piracy).
Just buy the damn OS for $40 US and use the release version instead of the buggy pre-release. I believe you can even install it over the existing pre-release and keep your files, if backing up is too much trouble. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store...dows_8_Pro?WT.mc_id=MSCOM_HP_nav_BuyWSoftware

my point exactly. I've now updated about half a dozen devices, its so stupidly cheap it would be madness not doing it, any vista era laptop is BETTER than new with it, the age old "excuses" for piracy just don't hold any water at this price point.

Well I never saw that part... Lol. However, I do make a valid point. Microsoft sells software, sure, but it's the keys they actually care about. I actually already disabled the activation utilities in windows 8 pro last night because it came up on a fresh install and crashed my computer. Another valid reason to remove it. I was in middle of watching something and the new activation came up in a metro ui windows and refused to close. Next thing I know, a BSOD came up with a video crash error. Since windows is so cheap, I do plan to buy the pro upgrade, just not right this minute.

while you plan to buy it, what your doing now is still piracy and still frowned apon. the easiest and most effective way to cure activation related crashes is to........actually activate it
Using the already included activation tools that are built in to windows to temporarily disable a buggy subsystem is not piracy. By right, I am given 30 days of free usage on any copy of windows when absent of a product key. I am part of the tech net and msdn and know all about windows, and all of its components, subsystems, and legalities. Trust me when I say that disabling activation during the first 30 days is not by any means even partially shady. Just. E wary after

everybody's on tech net huh!
kinda makes you wonder what your doing messing about with not activating it...
yes you have 30 days to eval it, but heres the thing, since you haven't paid for it, and you have access to technet, I assume that's where you got your copy of it? what I fail to understand then is why you haven't activated it with the key you generated from them...
unless you didn't get it from TechNet , you cant download it without buying it first, unless you got it through alternative channels, but then why would you when you have access to TechNet and not use it....
many questions...
Problem... solved? Maybe? Haha.

Well, I just simply do not have a premium subscription that would allow me access to said keys. I just get copies of things for free for evaluation only. i will be upgrading my TechNet license to premium before too long once i get some more money. The other reason is for testing. i know windows 8 is great, but i want to run a semi-long term test to make sure that windows can hold up to all that i need and do every day. Hence the 30 day evaluation. On average, my computers have about 280GB of nothing but just programs for development (website, source, etc...) and programs for places such as this for building ROMs, and that takes A LOT of space already.
So basically, i disabled the activation out of pure annoyance, and it doesn't need to be activated when merely evaluating the Install. Second, if that is what happens every time it comes up, then i will definitely figure out a way to keep using the older Consumer Preview that just expired on monday, or settle for windows 7 again. Man I had EVERYTHING set up on it. Good for computer repair, ROM building, building custom Windows OS copies for licensed redistribution, etc... You name it, i had it... lol.
Hello community! I'm a full time developer for WPF (Windows Desktop) and I wanted to jump over Windows Phone 8.
I downloaded the SDK and created my first test app (from a template).
The problem: I cannot run/debug the app in any way:
* No emulator available (no Hyper-V)
* My Lumia 920 conveniently connected and unlocked, but it says I have to unlock my device for development.
If understand it well, Microsoft charges a subscription in order to publish apps, but… for developing them, too?
This is a total letdown for me. In the past I debugged and deployed Windows Mobile apps freely. What's the deal? Am I wrong?
Please, help me.
Are you completely sure it is unlocked for development? Have you tried sideloading an app to see if it works?
You don't need to pay anything, it is something you've done wrong somewhere.

Thanks!!
Search for the app "Windows Phone developer registration" on your computer (assuming you installed the SDK)
Follow the instructions in there. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to do it.
Hi again. I followed the instructions, but the Wizard told me this:
"Device not registered with Marketplace. Please return to the developer portal for more information."
The description I found in a forum (Stack Overflow) regarding this error :
UserID was found but no Company was found which has this UserID as an active developer. (0x80043001 or 0x80040207)
Try this:

So I think I have to pay a subscription to become an "active developer". That would confirm that I really need to pay. For me, testing with a physical device is the only option since my PC doesn't support the technologies emulator needs.
Am I lost?
Well if you haven't payed the subscription, then yes, you need to pay it.
What I meant to say is that there is no other thing to pay besides the developer subscription.
Yes, you either need the Emulator which in turn needs an Core i3, i5 or i7 or equivalent AMD processor that supports newer hardware virtualization features. Deploying onto the device itself needs a developer subscription. You can get one for free in case you're a student through Microsoft's Dreamspark program. I don't know if that is an option for you but it deserves to be mentioned.

Well, you get some other benefits on an unlocked phone and as a developer. Depending on where you live, you get free training camps, conferences, etc etc.
I'm getting a dev account as soon as I get my phone A bit sad that hobbyist developers have to pay that much just to play around without publishing anything. Cause I know I won't publish anything until I get something really good done, and my work takes to much time for that to happen xD haha

Hi all,
I have a weird requirement.
I have a Galaxy Note 4.
1. I installed gotomypc app and gotomypc software on my work laptop and my Galaxy Note 4 and I can browse my Home laptop when I'm outside.
Similarly, is there any app, which I can install on my Galaxy Note 4 and remote control my another Verizon Galaxy S5 Phone in my home?
I want to just do everything, like I do when I connect via gotomypc software to my laptop from my Phone or Work Laptop.
I don't mind paying monthly fee for this app, if there is a subscription fees. Just like for gotomypc, I pay $9.95/ Month.
Thank You for Your suggestions.

You can install a VNC client on your Note 4 and install this app on your S5. I haven't done this from one phone to another but it definitely works for me running a VNC client from my PC and remote controlling a phone. I used it to connect to my LG Optimus L9 many, many times. It's a one-time cost of $10.

Not too sure about phone to phone.
Phone to PC works, have no idea why you would want to control another phone unless it was to snoop, there are other apps out there for stuff like that, don't know if xda promotes stuff like that though
