Does anyone know how to remap the long press back key function? Stock behavior is to disable/enable multi-window.
The only option I can seem to find is to map it to kill the current app, but I want to remap it to show the menu. That would enable me to use the phone one-handed probably 95% of the time.
TIA!

If you're rooted you can install Xposed Framework and then use the Xposed Additions module to remap the buttons and long press actions.

Awesome I didn't see that module! Thanks! :good:
Has anyone gotten this to work? On my Note 3, it won't intercept the back or menu hardware buttons...

Just wondering if it's possible to remap the IE key on the keyboard to launch the opera program.
Thanks.
Hi,
No...not possible
A solution, some what... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=253662&highlight=remap+ie+button
Oh, I made an app to do this a while back, remap all the FN+ X keys, eg fileexplorer, comm manager etc.. Actually designed for Hermes (remap all the fn keys on there, also the video call button, and the wired headset button). I'd not had a good reason to use it on the universal until recently tho.
It can be done... will have to release that some time... don't have a name for it tho

It's setup that way, you have to manually configure the setting for Button 5.
Go to settings > buttons.
The program will show two Button 5's:
Button 5 (Press and Hold) File Explorer
Button 5 {configure as needed}
That should get you going.

With the "official" AT&T WM6 ROM, the traditional PTT Fix doesn't work.
Just an FYI for everyone else who wants to try to answer this.
However, stesul411 did provide the correct link to the updated version that will work.
Hello,
I have a Dopod D810 and would like to change the behaviour of one of the buttons on my device.
Currently pressing and releasing Button 2 once (right-hand side, towards base) will launch the Camera:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
What I would like to do is to is change the Camera to only launch when Button 2 is set to 'Press & Hold', much in the same way <Rotate Screen> is currently set up. How do I add a button definition for 'Button 2 (Press & Hold)'?
BTW, tried installing AE Button Plus but it's waaaay too complicated for what I need!
Thanks in advance!
*bump*
Anyone?
I think you really need to use third party software, because HTC doesn't allow to have a 2nd function to camera button. I use AEButton plus and it's not that complicated, you'll have the chance to also assign a function to a double press. I use the voice dial, camera and softkeys mapped. BTW by mapping camera button you'll have to use the action button for pictures.
I really love this 4-buttons style of AOSP, menu button is on very right position, and seems like it does not take space. Like bellow.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Does anyone know how to get that instead of stock soft keys? Or what application provide soft keys customization function including adding that menu soft key?
Thank you

Do you have any solution that make it always on instead of auto hide

Have you given pie a try? also GMD auto hide soft keys can be turned on all the time but then you have it cutting into content... sadly Softkeyz dosnt work with the G2 so for now i think the only way to get stock AOSP softkeys would be to rom an AOSP rom... i would suggest trying out pie though! didnt think id like it as much on this phone.. i just hide with GMD auto hide soft keys all the time and downloaded the PIE app from the play store... full 5.2 inch display is a win for me
I want to bring it back to older device function just like calling app's "Context menu" instead of calling "Recent Apps".
Is there a way to change galaxy s5's menu button function? (especially without rooting)
Somebody knows why it is changed and is it changed in recent android os or recent samsung device or only galaxy s5?
you can use key remapping but that's requires root access, i don't think there is a way to do it without rooting your device
maybe someone else can help you sorry
just for your information the menu button is still there just press and hold the recent app button for few seconds and it will pop tried it on my S5
