Anyone know how to do this on VZW? It can be done on the TMobile variants, but it's different on VZWs G2s for some reason
The first thing you should try is not posting questions in the general section.

To block your number on VZW you have to enable the service on your account. I believe it's under your plan or something. After you enable it your number will be blocked from caller id. If you want it to show, you will have to hit *82 then area code then number.

I guess I didn't explain this well enough. i would like to block certain incoming calls on my G2. I was able to do that on both my Galaxies and
my DNA, but I can't seem to find that option within the call settings.

My bad. I haven't found any setting either. Might have to use a 3rd party app for that. The only thing I can say is that if you have the number stored in your contacts, you can select ' go straight to voicemail'. I do know that some ROMs have that feature, like CM.

The aosp dialer has the option to blacklist specific numbers and wildcards but I've never seen a stock dialer that did.

You have the option to send strait to voice mail. That's pretty much like blocking a call

Is it possible to change carrier name on notification bar... I want to change sprint name to something else like my name. Is this possible?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
yes, using QPST, under "Display"
It also changes the carrier name on the lock screen (for Sense ROMS).
Be warned, I've heard some people have problems with Sprint apps after doing this (I'm on Cricket, so can't test it myself)

You can also use root explorer and go to the eri.xml file and use a text editor to change it to what you want. And posted in the themes thread a member posted an app he made that will do this also.
"Hell I don't know anymore"

You can now block unwanted voice calls as well as text messages. You have to go to Sprint's web site and list the numbers you want blocked there.

Been using that feature for quite some time now. I thought everyone knew about it because I'm usually the last to know anything around here. heh.
I've been using that service for about six months now, to block all the dirtbags sending dirty messages to my teenage daughter. Blocked about forty numbers from voice and text already.

I've been using Call Blocker Gold, didn't know Sprint had that option. Is there an option to block all private/unknown numbers as well?

FYI: there are ways around blocking by phone number to get in touch with another mobile device. Off top my head:
Use Skype
Use Gmail to text or call
Possibly Google Voice?
Instant Messaging (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, etc)

on sprints website you need to know the number. You can't block unless you have it. If the app your using blocks unknown callers I would stick with that.

Was thinking the exact same thing!
Why does all my threads turn into trash? Do I attract them or is the Epic forum really turned to sh&t?
I can't believe this has been available for months and I just seen it on their site. You would think an announcement text would be nice instead of their usual crap texts.

Wow. I guess someone failed to mention that this site is not /b/ or 4chan or whatever these types frequent these days.
I have an 18 year old and I know that a girl does not need to be a "whore" simply because boys want to talk to her. She doesn't want to talk to them, but that doesn't stop those kids from trying. Still waiting until she chooses one of them so I can set up the ring in the garage and put him through the test.
Edit: I specifically did not quote the offending post because I don't want that kind of childishness and hate on my posts. BrooklynsFinest is not the offender and I echo his comment.

You have it but you have to log in to Sprint and go to the bottom of the screen and go to Change preferences, then scroll down to block voice. You have to add numbers you want to block there.

Yep, went through Sprint's crappy site and found it. Bet next to no one uses it because it's buried so deep in there and is presented in such a user-unfriendly way.
Mostly what I do is give out my Google voice # and use it to block. Neat and easy.

I'm looking for something like in the iPhone where you press on call log and all the numbers are threaded.
For example if I had 10 calls all from one number on the S2 they all show up as different logs but on other phones, it would show up as one number in the call log and you can just press on the number to see all the calls to/from that number.
Hi. I too was looking for something like you have suggested. The best app i have found so far is Call History by developer XHeng. Any other suggestions would be helpful. Regards, Scott.

If you just click on one log then a threaded detailed view appears!

you might want to post this in the q&a section, this is the original development section. unless you are developing something, this thread has no place here.
You're unable to make calls?
Maybe its an APN issue?
Not sure why it's not working for you. I am on PA and GV works for me. Is there a specific feature that's not working or just gv all together?
Thanks for responses .....
Sorry for posting in wrong section, I don't create a lot of threads as you can see
Currently on Muzzy, tried xylon and madaco ....
GV would not call out
The issue is calling out...
It tries but fails

For the life of me, I can't get it to call out on Custom ROMs.
Currently on : BlackBean

Thanks again ....

Working like it should.....
I'm currently on :
Rom: Xylon latest stable

Have you looked in the the Development section or the original development section to see if any of the ROMs in there fit your needs? There are also a couple of index threads in the General section that list the ROMs in certain classifications to make it easy for you.

It's my understanding that AT&T blocks native video calling, at least that's what I was told when I asked about this same issue.
Basically just use Skype or another video chat app.

There is a Mod out there to enable video chat on Stock ROMs (for Google Hangouts or chats or whatever it is called now), a search would probably turn it up. AT&T is supposed to enable it on all Android phones by the end of the year...if they keep their promise.

I think OP was asking about native video calling. As in open the dialer, dial the number and hit video call. The phone can do it, AT&T still has it blocked. Again, I'm repeating what I was told about this same topic.

Blocked yet daily I see a damn commercial for the s4 with a brother and sister using it as the younger brother enters high school for 1st time . advertising it but blocking it? Wtf is that? Every time the commercial shows I have to hear my damn wife bugging me why our S4s won't do it. This is why I'm asking. Lol
Apple probably patented it and is suing the piss out of everyone who wants to use it.
