Just got the update too here in UK.
I am rooted with twrp recovery. Can I just install this then re-root ? Or will twrp fail to install it. I have no access to my pc to go back to stock first.
Cheers.

It did not affect my recovery, only lost root.

I'm running the Flashed official 4.4 update with the stock kernel and the 4.4 boot loader with TWRP recovery... Would it be safe for me to perform the OTA?

I lost root and TWRP. WugFresh Toolkit brought it all back. Though, could be just a random event, but when it was suppose to boot to the bootloader the second time, it didn't. Had to start the process over. Worked fine after that.

If you read the app info on play store it says it won't work on 4.3 but they are trying to find a fix.

I would sit tight and let the app developers try and straighten things out. I updated my nexus4 to 4.3 but will wait awhile before doing my n7. I'm sure it won't be long!

Sent From My Rooted G3
Only thing I can suggest is make sure you have USB debugging enabled and make sure you have the correct drivers installed. It's probably best to ask in the thread of the toolkit you're using, I haven't tried many toolkits but wugs has a pretty good walk thru for driver installation http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475

I followed the instructions in the thread below for 'Already updated to 4.3 and have an OTA notificaion? (JWR66Y from JWR66V)'.
I unrooted, flashed the update zip in recovery and immediately after flashed the superuser zip and all was fine.

Sideloading Android 4.4.1 KOT49E

I'm trying to sideload the 4.4.1 update to my Nexus 4 but I keep getting the status 7 error. I had the same problem with sideloading from KRT16O to KRT16S, but that was occured by the franco kernel. Flashing the stock kernel fixed that. Right after sideloading KRT16S I tried to flash 4.4.1 but I got the status 7 error again..
I've tried everything; rooted, unrooted, stock recovery, CMW, sideloading, flashing in CWM but all with the same error.. How can I get past this status 7?

Got it from Google's servers. I've read about flashing the boot.img and system.img seperately before flashing the update. Could that work? I'm afraid it won't and I can't find the originals..
Please don't post this in the development section. This belongs in the q and a. For future reference read before posting, I can't stress this enough

No bugs here, except pretty high battery usage. But that status 7 error is really bothering me because I could sideload KRT16S without problems after flashing stock kernel and haven't changed anything since...
Maybe I'll try it. You should list features, bugs, etc in the OP.

4.2 to 4.4.1

Howdy, was looking to update my nexus from 4.2.2 to 4.4.1. I remember when I went from 4.1 to 4.2 I had to use my PC to update the boot loader first. Is this also true for this update or can I just flash my new ROM and gapps after a good wipe?

Bump! Anyone?
The proper way without any problem is flash factory image via wugfresh tool kit and it should update your device kernel bootloader android os every thing and it is very easy too.
