I have the LS980, and I was wondering what driver version to use. I previously installed ones called LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN38AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.8.1, and I can adb fine, and COM41 shows in download mode and such. However the new ones are 3.10.1, and I was wondering if I can root, flash back to stock, etc with these drivers, and that there is nothing wrong with using the older version.
Thanks!

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE and cannot get Odin to recognize the device while in download mode on two different computers. I have the drivers installed directly from the Samsung website (VZW_SCH-i905_USB_Driver_v1_3_2360_0). I get an error in device manager that says "Unidentified Device" and i haven't been able to find anything that fixes it. Does anyone have any recommendations or solutions to fix this?

Did you follow ROOTING YOUR TAB section on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089? Is it 4g? If it's 4g, you don't use Odin. Odin is for the wifi version.
I am not trying to root my device, as it's already rooted and working fine. I'm trying to install the latest TW leak that came out yesterday and the only way to do it is via Odin.
I'm not clear on the TW leak applied via Odin method that you are using. More info/links would be helpful.
Are you trying to flash a ROM?
Update:
Are you talking about this leak-->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364222?
Yes, that is the leak i am trying to flash.
I think i just figured it out. Finally found a different driver which seems to have worked. The file name is below.
20070813082717640_Samsung_USB_Driver_Installer.exe
I guess not...it hangs while it installs the 2nd driver. I've let it sit for almost two hours now and it's just sitting there doing nothing. Odin detects the device now, but it doesn't get past the SetupConnection part and eventually says it cannot connect using the COM port.
Also...i've now tried three different computers with the same result.
Preface: I am a noob and/or idiot. I've never modded a phone before now.
So I've been trying on my own for about 12 hours now and I'm tired.
I've been trying to use SDMerge400 with CM9: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215406
I've tried Exodus v2.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506589
I've successfully rooted the device, installed CWM, and installed the roms. Everything went smoothly except that the phone doesn't recognize the SIM. Baseband is unknown and IMEI is null.
I've reverted the phone back to stock firmware (v12a: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=11 , the only Canadian one) and rooted it. Everything works, including the SIM, modem, etc.
I'm assuming (note: I know nothing) that there are drivers in the stock firmware that aren't in the rom. Can I get those drivers and edit the rom's .zip? Which files do I need? Or is it something else that simply isn't working?
What I really want is SDMerge400. This phone's memory is too small. I don't need CM9 specifically, but it would be nice to have the upgrade.
Hello guys,
First of all this is my first ever post on xda-developer, If am stating something which is against the community laws please let me know or admins can delete the post.
Now, i have an lg g2 32 GB version and i have few problems. I would really appreciate if someone guide me how to fix them.
Problem # 1 :
I am not sure about the model of the mobo, I dropped my phone and got a new mobo installed now i am not sure about the model of the board.
The mobo was already rooted and is running rayglobe flex 3.5 rom, android version is 4.2.2 kernel version is 3.4.0 and software version is d80211z according to settings > about phone > software information.
I think the model of the the phone is dodgy, I have tried various methods to see if its actually the right model, which are as follows:
According to its software details it shows d802
If I enter its imei on the site imeiinfo something, i cant remember the exact name of the site it says ls980
I just opened the back cover and the strip (that connects the battery and the screen and mobo together) says ls980 on it
Lg pc suite says its d802
If I run adb command "adb devices" it says ls980
Now i am not sure what is my model of the phone and I wanna update it to cyanogenmode 12.1 or 13 and I am afraid that I might end up bricking the phone If I dont use the relevant ROM.
Problem # 2 :
My phone was working fine i could load into recovery mode easily but then I read on the cyanogenmod site that latest version of TWRP should be installed in order to install cyanogenmod properly and I downloaded TWRP manager and flashed the latest version that would be 2.8 for TWRP, mine was 2.7 and in the twrp manager it still shows 2.7
Now I am not sure what happened I cant go into recovery or fastboot mode, I can only go into download mode.
I have tried TWRP manager and Flashify and tried to push TWRP files using ADB but no matter what I do it never goes into recovery mode, it just says
Code:
[830]fastbood mode started
[880]udc_start()
I have tried flashing LS980 TWRP version and D802 version, I have tried older version of TWRP and nothing works it shows the same thing, no matter what I do. Please guide me how to go to the recovery mode so I can flash cyanogen mode.
please note that the actual phone works fine, I can make calls, wifi, camera, everything is working flawlessly, just cant go into recovery or fastboot mode or TWRP mode. (not sure what to call it)
Also I am not sure but I think data networks can may be tell you about the variant, anyhow mine says in preferred network mode and i can set it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
Problem # 3 :
Lastly, If i flash cyanogenmod and I have read that if its ls980 it wont detect my sim, although there are workarounds but is it a possibility that I wont get signals (I am from pakistan) ?
I have the images sorted out in my hard drive to give you a clear picture but for some odd reason, I cant upload them here. If you need any specific information please let me know, I will host the required images and share the link in comments.
Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.

Admins, I have found few solutions for my problems and this thread is no necessary anymore, please delete this thread.
thanks
Hi guys. I very narrowly (somehow) managed to recover from almost bricking my phone.
I successfully S-Off'd my phone, and previously successfully installed TWRP. I tried to install this ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...m-perfumewl-m60-dev-edition-unlocked-t3442969
When I tried the to flash the ZIP for firmware and for the ROM, the firmware wouldn't install. I tried some other stuff and basically almost bricked my phone. Some how got it to suddenly start being able to use the htc_fastboot commands (????????) and was able to start installing the zip for stock... but it ran an error, I ran it again and it froze... then I forced my phone to reboot and somehow I'm back to having a stock system. No clue what I did.
My question is, can I take a software update on my phone normally (to 7.0) , and then install just that ROM? Or so I need to flash the firmware separately with a command line command? I just don't want to give myself another heart attack tonight. Current firmware version is 1.82.605.6, not rooted, don't believe my recovery is TWRP right now (but I know how to install that one).
I'm just looking for root access and the ability to remove pre-installed Verizon crap (VZW Messager, My Verizon, etc). Thanks guys.

I recommend you install this one instead:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...m-1-85-605-9-aroma-root-root-debloat-t3529732
Follow instructions in OP...or:
1)fastboot flash FW w/o Boot w/ TWRP (htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU, fastboot flash zip...)
2)htc_fastboot reboot-bootloader
3) Finally, go into recovery-- backup and flash ROM (choose root w/ Magisk and debloat)
Thanks, I figured out why it wasn't working before. Used official TWRP, thats why it wasn't working. Wouldn't have thought that'd made that much of a difference.
New problem though; something I really would like to use the Google versions of contacts and dialers. Trying to flash those just made my phone app unusable. So I turned to LineageOS but it REFUSES to boot. Hangs on their little vertical line with a moving circle. Found out AOSP roms don't like VZW firmware? Flashed global firmware, updated through WiFi as much as possible, and then ran into issues with radio, even though I flashed the VZW one. So I reverted those changes, am going through with what you said above to have a working phone (after not having one all day), but any advice on getting Google dialer and contacts? I'd like to use LineageOS but I couldn't get it work at all.

You've got to read OPs, search threads, etc. Some ROMs work w/ our phone, and some do not. Check out the latest versions of ice and leedroid. Your most likely want to grab the SVN versions is the official versions may not yet support Verizon N firmware

I have been doing a lot of searching, but I've found so many different, conflicting sources of information. For example, one website told me to install LineageOS, was to be on latest Verizon OTA and just normally flash it; that obviously didn't work.
So from what I can see, our choices are Viper, Ice, LeeDroid, NuSense and the one you linked. I'm going to try out LeeDroid... out of curiousity, is there any reason, for example, LeeDroid or Ice haven't posted in this Verizon section with links to their ROMs?
*Edit Two* Dialer wouldn't work out of the "box" so to speak, so I had to go to Phone settings at the bottom, there is a menu called Calling Accounts. Had to go there and tap Receive Incoming Calls... why is that disabled in the first place..? But that seems to be an issue going even as far back as the Nexus 5. But that's how you find the option in the HTC 10 for anyone who comes across this issue too...
Not sure why your having issues with the flashing. Are you doing a full wipe? Not just factory reset. Going from stock to lineage requires a complete format of internal SD card. On the stock roms, most will ask if you are still on marshmallow firmware & are working fine. Again, we need more info on what firmware version your on, version of twrp& how your wiping your device. Most AOSP roms work, but no advanced calling
LOS ROMs will work without issue IF you have flashed the US unlocked firmware at some point in time. This is the only information that we have found from a VzW device with LOS booting and VzW device without. We started a thread awhile ago and is the only known method we currently know of to get LOS booting. Also works for Sprint users.

Hello XDA. I recently revived my G6 after it sat in my drawer for years and was delighted to see HavocOS on Oreo still running on it. I popped in my T-Mobile SIM and voila, service. My only issue was horrible data speeds. I tried every network settings and apn fix that is relevant to my device but I was still stuck with virtually no 4G data. So, my last resort was to flash back to stock. Now, I dont know if there is a specific method for this device as I forgot how complicated the root exploit was. But I went ahead and downloaded the latest stock .kdz (20g), LGUP and the drivers and proceeded as normal to flash the kdz over. I had SEVERAL issues getting my device model to be recognized and finally grabbed the right LGUP version that worked. I proceeded to flash the kdz when it gave me an error round 31%. I did much troubleshooting research and came up empty, finally decided to try flashing the stock version it was on (20a) to just restore it.
This worked. I thought I was saved until the phone froze on the T-Mobile logo while booting and didnt budge for an hour. Much more googling and I found a thread that looked promising and seemed to help. At first. It flashed the kdz, gave me the error, and when I tried to flash the dz, nothing. I retried LGUP with 20a stock, unknown model. I tried to go back through the whole rooting process again and stick it out with minimal service. The FWUL/lglaf portion of the guide is where I got stuck. My device would not be recognized in FWUL, I couldnt get wifi so plugged in my ethernet. And then I kept getting "USB configuration not set" and "input/output" errors, and I noticed that while booting FWUL, the step "Loading Kernel Modules" fails. So I assumed that FWUL was not loading any modules, including USB's (which explained the errors), so I booted up my own Manjaro install and cloned the same project there. Knowing all my modules work now, I still get the "Input/Output" error.
So now I'm led to believe this phone is hard-bricked. It registers as a port in Window's Device Manager, "LG AndroidUSB SerialNet" or something like that. I tried following the unknown model guide again to no avail. I'm at a loss. Whatever info is needed for debugging I'll provide. I'm dualbooting Win10 and Manjaro so any methods are viable.
Which specific stock KDZ(s) did you try to flash on your phone (full kdz name)? You need to seperate flashing and rooting as two separate tasks because from your post I can't tell if you are able to boot after flashing stock kdz or not. First, if your phone is not booting, you gotta recover from that and flash a stock kdz.
Also, try using the Dev patched LG UP from this post (thank the dev while you are there): https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...ssflashing-t3780969/post76510671#post76510671
Try the 'Partition DL' option when you flash and select all partitions in the next window.
Once you are able to boot a stock rom, you can try using a VMWare such as virtual box, install/mount FWUL in a virtual environment and use that to root the phone. I think the process is somewhere here on the runningnak3d's guide or on another post, I will try find a link later.
