I know that when I was in the process of de-bloating my phone in the beginning, on one of the earlier pass through of freezing apps in TiBu, I froze My Magazine and it caused the stock Email app to randomly Force Close especially when I tried to open emails via the drop down notification bar.
Not sure what issue you're having with the Email app, but just thought that I would throw this out there just in case since you might actually need the My Magazine app and not replacing the Email app.

I have the magazinehome.apk, the magazines.apk, the lounge.apk, and the magazine.odex.....i have put them into system/app and changed permissions to rw-r-r and other various combinations and rebooted, but have still had trouble with my magazine either showing it's not installed, making TW fc and/or making the mail app not function correctly.

When I receive a mail, and want to open it thru notifications.
My stock mailapp doesn't open, I get a black screen, it waits and says everytime: "couldn't open email"
But it works when I open my app thru the homescreen. Anyone else experiencing this?
I also get this error when I first open the mail app @ home screen
I've downloaded K9 but couldn't get it to push.. This is so annoying

I also had this. On my GN3 this was caused by missing "My Magazine" app (MagazineHome.apk). I did copy the apk to the system/app folder, rebootet and everything was working again.

Thx, I hope this helps for me, going to try out this evening. But I really hate My Magazine.. Is there no way to disable or delete it and get the mail app function normally?
EDIT: Do I have to load up Flipboard.apk and lounge.apk also? or only Magazinehome.apk?

I've download an apk from http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111253390.
And I put this in my Directory Phone (because I didn't find any system/app folder) but it didn't work for me?
Can someone give me a good link for this magazinehome.apk and tell me exactly where I need to copy this file?
I would be very thankful
hi,
i've downloaded 4.4 googleemail.apk and installed it on my s4. However, running it fc's. Catlog shows entries about cannot create cache directory, cannot open email db, etc.
Why doesn't it simply work? Is there anything else that needs to be done.

yes it does. I also disabled the existing Email app, but it was working even before doing that.
when I opened it for the first time, I was greeted with the "add new account tutorial" and had to re-add my exchange account. as the tutorial launched new activities to take me through the process, I was asked to pick a "default" app because they changed the package name from com.android.email to com.google.android.email (which explains why I had to add my account again, they can't share storage). I know this is probably a stupid question, but you're definitely using the right package?
for what it's worth, I'm running some 4.3.1-based unofficial build of paranoid android on the jfltevzw variant of the S4.

ok, so I got it working on TW, however, I can only sync manually. No push, and no even periodic sync..
Just wanted to mention that the official Android L launcher works on our Tabs
I have attached the .apk
You have to change the build.prop to get the new UI
set ro.build.version.codename to L and reboot
It works also as a system app, no FC's.
Supports 4.2.2 / 4.3 / 4.4.2
Note: You have to update/download the latest Google Search app and Google Mail may force closing
Proceed with caution, you may end up having boot-loops !
Thanks go to:

UA,
hi i would ask that you amend your post to mention this launcher requires google search to be functional.
As per your instructions I did so and the launcher does not register as system app without google search,
and on regular install call for updated google search to function.
thank you for reading.

When you say, "set it to L", you ARE referring to the property value under where it says ro.build.etc.... correct?

Yes, you have to set the value for ro.build.version.codename to the letter L.
PHP:
ro.build.version.codename=L

gt-5200, 4.4.2 deodexed stock...
No i did not, i just installed given apk (it updated current google now launcher), and changed build.prop
anyway, i tryed to fix premisions, and delete the google launcher from the app folder from recovery, but still rebooting continued.
and while trying to fix the build.prop from the recovery, i funked the system a bit, so a reflashed the whole rom again, so I'm back at the begining... (no new launcher, but tab works fine...)

It seems like, you screwed up inside the build.prop
Or, it only works as a system app on 4.4.2, that would be bad.
I will check that, thank you for trying and sorry if you got any problems because of me.

well, i used root explorer to edit build.prop, and i didnt change anything except switch REL with L...
but i guess build.prop was screwed somehow, it managed to stay on for a while before the reboot a few times (for about half a minute), but it kept giving the fc error screens for play services, mail, etc, and then restarted again.
I will try it in a few minutes!

When first time I installed this launcher I changed the build.prob as u said....
And after a week I came to know that gmail is get fc's every time
I saw the log of gmail and came to know that the changes made in the build.prob coz of that gmail app getting fc...
Then I changed it to og value in build.prob
From then everything is working totally fine
So I don't think that we should change the codename, without changing it everything is working fine...even gmail app

Hey everybody
I found a link this morning for the new Android 5.0 leaked Google apps: http://http://phandroid.com/2014/10...y-music-and-more-leaked-android-5-0-lollipop/
I've simply installed the Messaging apk and it is working really well on my Rooted AT&T Note 3.
I attempted to install the new Gmail app, but I could not get it to work. I was getting FCs and had to jump back to the current Gmail.
Has anyone been able to get the Gmail apk to work?
Uninstall Gmail using System App Remover. Boot into recovery, clear cache & davlik, fix permissions, reboot, then install it. Those are the steps I followed.

Yeah, what @reesedizan said. It worked for me after simply installing it, trying to open it (it'll force close), clear app cache and data, and rebooting.
This is cool. Going to check out the 5.0 apps.

Guides seem to recommend people to move the Gmail APK to /system/lib/ (?) but that seems Android 5 stuff.
I moved it to /system/app and renamed it to Gmail2.apk, changed permissions to rw-r-r- and restarted, cleaned cache and dalvik, all fine now and working well here on CM11 M11 SM-N9005.

Did you remove any of the updates? Or delete/remove your OTHER Gmail? or did you simply just rename the other gmail2.apk?
I left my other gmail. Didn't uninstall or remove (that's probably my mistake). I renamed the other apk, the I moved the new apk to system/app and renamed and changed permissions. Rebooted, Cleared Cache and Dalvik. STILL FC.

Here is a breakdown of my steps:
Uninstalled Gmail app updates through application manager (Stock rooted Touchwiz)
Removed Gmail from the phone with System App Safe Remover (from PlayStore)
Installed the new Gmail apk.
Used SafeStrap to reboot to recovery and cleared Cache, Dalvik, and Fixed Permissions.
Rebooted.
Pushed apk into System/app.
Renamed to Gmail2.apk
Set permissions (rw-r--r--)
Restarted
Opened
FCs for days.
I'm thinking about throwing in the towel on this until they actually release it.

Oh okay. I'm no help then lol. Sorry
hi
yesterday it worked for sure
today my mi-a1 asked me to restart due to system update
and now when i click on any link in the messages app it crashes
i also tried to open the messages through contacts+ app, clicking the links there also made it crash
i also updated the messages app to try and solve it, it didn't help
please check it on your phones
can you help?
1. Are You on stock, modified stock (rooted, magisk,...) or custom ROM?
2. Is it Your messaging app or web-browser that crashes?

don't know what it means, the one that comes with the phone as i bought it

its the messaging app that crashes not the browser, when i click on a link it doesn't get to the part when it opens the browser, it crashes b4 that part probably
just to be clear, like i get a text message from someone, i open the messages app and click on the text that is actually a link, then it crashes
Me and my friends have the same issue with the messages app and links clicking. Always getting an error message and the app getting crashed.
Is there any solution?
Yay, I'm not alone with this problem
Now maybe someone will look into it
My by pass solution is, you have to copy the entire text from that message cause you can't copy just the link, it will crash
So copy the entire message to a notes app
Then from it copy the link to a browser
Not fun at all, but it works…
I have the same problem. Not a rooted phone.
Please tell me if you have any solution.
Solved :cleared the data of the app
Settings- apps--data - clear data.
your'e a ****en genius!!!
it worked!!
i also noticed that this links problem happens in a couple of my apps on the phone, don't remember which right now
but when i'll see it i'll just go to clear its data :good:
