So 4.3 has been out for a while now. Just want to check with everyone if I should update to it. I am currently running 4.2.2 rooted with international sim unlock and wifi tether hack. I noticed the MJA modem hack under the tether hack thread. I am getting all the needed files.
But is it worth upgrading to 4.3? Aside from things like Bluetooth LE, is there anything new featurewise that you think are good? better battery life? what about app compatibility issues?
I read the sim unlock threads and looks like MJA is a no go for now with regard to sim unlock for international and domestic? I do want sim unlock so I am guessing i shouldn't update right now yet?
Thanks

Hey guys,
I unlocked my galaxy s4 from AT&T and now I use T-Mobile. I was wondering if I could use the t-mobile rom since I would like to use the tethering and wifi calls from it.
I don't really want any custom rom, just because I'm fine with the carrier ones.. so I searched somethings and I figured out that I could use the t-mobile rom with loki doki.
Can I just instal the stock firmare of t-mobile? (It would be the M919UVUEMK2)
By the way, right now I'm running the MF3 and idk why I don't receive the OTA update (never received, I suspect that's because I unlocked it)
I found some other posts but unfortunately it doesn't contain enough information.

Hey guys,
I am using my SGH i337 with T Mobile and I used RegionLockAway to get it to work with the T Mobile network. Now I read that this is not the same as a true SIM unlock but it seems to work flawlessly with T Mobile after unlocking the AWS bands.
I am currently on 4.2.2 with MF3 and I want to upgrade to 4.4 KitKat, does anybody know if this will remove the region unlock and will ask for a code? I have read that other members successfully upgraded to 4.3 via OTA and flashed via ODIN and retained the unlock.

I was on 4.3 MK2 w/ T-Mobile. I unlocked using RegionLockAway awhile back. Last night I decided to update to 4.4.2. I un-rooted using SuperSu, flash stock MK2 w/ Odin. Then did the OTA in settings. It's still unlocked. I was surprised LTE speeds improved. If you don't need to be rooted, I say go for it.
Hi guys one of my friends bought a S4 in the US, It's AT&T locked SGH-I337 so can't use it with sim in our country (South Africa)We have two models of S4 here, the I9500&I9505. Was wondering what the right steps is to get the phone working? Must I root the phone and flash custom Rom & kernel or just unlock sim card? I'm not new to Rooting or flashing Roms but haven't fidled with carrier locked phones before. And is it possible to use custom Roms from At&t in other countries thanks in advance [emoji2]

The Sgh-i337 is basically the same as the gt-i9505 EXCEPT for ATT locking the bootloader on that model.
You CAN Sim unlock it so you can insert your Sim into it. You will have to reach it a bit though. It helps if you know what firmware is installed on the phone. If it is MDB, MDL, or MF3 it would be easier to do I believe. Either way look for the threads about unlocking.
If you have NEWER firmware then there are separate threads for it, and it will more than likely need to be rooted, flash a older modem, then perform the Sim unlock from the menu. If you cannot find the correct post I can help look for it later.
Just reply back with WHAT firmware and Baseband you have installed on the phone and we should be able to help you further.
If you do have MDB or MDL firmware do NOF update it...

Thanks for reply ,I have NC1 firmware and I used Method 3 on this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595457 .SUCCESS!
Could you recommend a modem I could try other than MF3 as the signal isn't that great ?

Not sure which would work best for your area. You can download and try any/all of them until you find one that works best. You can switch back and forth with no issues without worries
I see the general consensus is that the tmobile note 4 cannot be used on verizon. Is the radio purely software controlled? Could I just flash another baseband and modem?
I did notice when I installed cm12 and inserted my verizon sim I was able to get 4g and data access but not on the stock tmo rom. Voice did not work as well. Is there anything I can do? I dont really want to have to shell out for the verizon version with an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks
Hi I'm thinking about switching from Verizon (I currently have a rooted LG G4) to T mobile. What ever new Tmobile compatible phone I get I'd really like it to be rootable. I'm thinking about getting the V20 for T mobile. After digging through several hundred page rooting thread I'd like to clarify a few things before I buy one.
The H918 IS indeed rootable
Does the FM radio still not work when rooted?
Any other know issues when rooting this phone?
Thanks!

Yeah it's rootable, about the FM idk since I don't use and no there's no issue whatsoever rooting this phone (H918). Throw in Weta or MEGAROM with magisk and you'll be good to go ?

Last I heard firmware 10k and newer are not rootable. Supposedly it is fairly easy to downgrade back to 10j or 10i though so just keep that in mind. I had no problems rooting mine on 10j.
As far as I know the FM radio will still work however I do believe it is a system app and some ROMS are debloated which may mean the radio will not work
No other issues that I've ran across unique to rooting other than prepare for tug of war if you plan on using magisk. I don't use any safety net apps so I'm running SuperSU instead and it works flawlessly so far.
Also keep in mind development for stock firmware ROMS have kind of dropped off for the T-Mobile variant. WETA and 2 others (that I can't think of right now) are the only stock ROMS that are still active as far as I know. MEGArom got a different phone but I'm running his V4 rom and it's quick. I've heard of people getting AOSP ROMs to work on V20 however you lose access to 2nd screen as of right now.
