I've searched and strangely not found a thorough thread about the LG Quickview cover. It seems very well made, and I really liked the design on the OEM Samsung S3 covers, which seems comparable.
My question to you guys who have it is, does it feel bigger, is it annoying to have on, and does it make the phone less slippery and easier to hold?
Thank you for your replies
I have the case. It does feel pretty well made.
as for you questions: It doesn't feel bigger. It is nearly the exact same size as the phone without the case. It's not annoying to me to have the case on, but your preference may be different. If you think the back of the phone is slippery already then the case won't really help. The back of the quickview case feels pretty much exactly the same as the back of the phone normally. Although, It doesn't show fingerprints as bad.
The only issue I have with the case is that: sometimes when I have the screen cover flipped back while using my phone for a long period of time, the cover doesn't want to stay on the screen. It will slightly raise up and cause the screen to come on.
Also, I've only had the case for about a month, so I can't really say how the flip screen cover holds up long term, even though it seems solid as of right now.
oh yeah, Also this case does not provide great protection from drops, it will slip right out of the case. It's not the tightest fit. Overall, it's a pretty good case for minimal protection and a slim look.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me! I'm still on the fence about it, since it's pretty expensive. but it sounds good.

Bought it same time as the phone. Amazingly thin and doesn't impede touch at the margins of screen like most snap on cases. Best case I ever owned, hands down. Spendy, yes, but I don't regret paying. It's only basic drop protection but excellent against scrapes and scratches.
The hard plastic back is basically identical in finish to the international phone but the flipper front is grippy textured vinyl on the outside and microfiber on the inside. Flipped over 180 degrees, the microfiber is against your hand and is really easy to hold. Closed and face down, it becomes slip resistant on smooth surfaces.

I ditched mine after the first drop. I couldn't believe the phone just popped out. Only protected it for the first hit.
Hi. I have the quickview case which comes with the phone, bought it during promotion period. I love this casing, especially with the auto screen on/off function. It does not feel annoying at all. It offers screen protection when the phone is in the pocket since I don't like screen protection film. The way I hold the phone with this casing is by grabbing it at the window opening with my left index and thumb while the other three fingers hold the back of the phone so this way I don't have to fold the flip all the way back. I know it takes a little getting used to, but I find it very stable holding the phone this way.
btw, I'm from Singapore and this is my first post!
I bought one when I got the phone and returned it a day later. I thought it looked nice, but I hated the way it felt when you held it open. I felt like it was harder to hold. Also, I was very disappointed in how little function it has. Only a handful of apps will show notifications through it and they hardly do anything. Also, dust would form around the border of the window. I was very disappointed in it. I would not recommend it.

Just received mine yesterday from Sprint, guess they sent them to those that ordered by phone also. Almost didn't even put it on though. Had been using a Diztronic case for the first week and do like it. The fit and finish of the Quickview case seems good, but not sure of protection from a fall. It is more comfortable than I thought it would be. I like the auto on and off, but you give up the long press volume button shortcuts. I did notice that now only the window part of the screen gets dirty which can be distracting. All in all I am liking it more than I thought I would but not sure which case I will use long term.

I was so anxious about dropping\scratching my phone that I bought this huge case from amazon and now I've realized....Using a case just ****ing ruins this phone, it literally becomes a working brick (literally) also its well known that its probably the thinnest phone around, i mean forget the case yo. Anyone else agree?

I agree.
I have had an Evo, and an Evo 3D previously. Both of which I never used a cover/case on.
Then I got a small clip on case for my GSIII, but really dislike the bulkiness that it adds to the phone. I keep toying around with it, taking the case off, then putting it back on. I really am thinking of going caseless. But I do need to find a good screen protector. If I decided to do that.
I'm still debating, every time I buy cases I end up taking it off with in a few days...I already got a screen protector and I think that's all I need.

I need a kickstand, need it. So I have a Case-Mate Pop!. It does make it brick-like when I have the phone in it.
I really really want a case cuz I'm scared to drop it. And my hands get oily and it starts slipping lmao. But then again, a case will cover up its sexiness

You don't have to get a giant otterbox, I have a tpu case and I think the little extra size to the phone is perfect and you get a little more protection from dropping.

Yeah TPU cases are good. Not really big but do give some protection. I'm looking at one of these: www.cruzerlite.com
Should be some Youtube reviews also.
Don't buy the white d30 open button case, gets dirty crazy fast, and cleaning it removes the white finish

I ended up buying one even though I don't like em because the phone seems a bit slippery to me and want to avoid dropping it.
Either way, the tpu case I bought isn't that bulky so I'm ok with it.

I didn't want a case
But then I got the phone and now i'm afraid i'm going to drop it so I bought a slim TPU case and a slim TPU bumper. I may rock it without a case every now and then because this phone feels and looks great.
no case brah.
i got a free one to protect it until i get one of these

This is my solution to the whole thing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645709 It focuses more on the screen protection than the case itself, so I'll sum it up here too.
I have found XO skin to be the best pick of wet install protection. Their skins cover any device so perfectly edge to edge that they virtually disappear. Other companies like ZAGG say they have "features" like the "orange peel effect", and that due to the fact that the Galaxy Nexus has a curved screen the shield needs to be smaller to accommodate this and there's nothing they can do. It's bull. They look like crap and it's their way of trying to hide that. XO has a full body protection option that when installed properly offers complete protection from every day nicks dings and short distance fumbles (all you can ask for from a case) that you almost forget is there. And when you do remember you show it off to people, instead of shoving your ZAGG covered phone back in your pocket in embarrassment. It still has a slight rubbery feel under hot heavy use (no innuendo intended), so I put a brand new new cheepo throw away plastic screen protector over it every couple of weeks to solve all my issues. (trust me when I say the XO Skin is completely unnoticeable underneath it. It does NOT look like you have two screen protectors on. Many people didn't believe me) I have been case free for 2 months without a care in the world about it, and my phone still looks wonderful.

I need a case. My hands are small so when I try to reach with my thumb across the screen, the base of my thumb will usually barely touch the screen causing chaos with the touchscreen. Case with raised sides that protect the screen some when dropped keep my thumb from hitting the touchscreen on the sides.
I picked up a otterbox commuter a few days ago it's was a pain to get the phone in and is a bit big but I am happy with the case and screen protector as accidents happen and it's better to protect the phone then pay $600 to replace it.

Thats the point. It replaces the battery cover and adds protection to the screen. Sure it prolly wouldn't be that great for the back but you would have an extra back cover.

Does anyone use their Nexus 4 without any kind of protection?
How well does the glass hold up on it's own.
I've used a clear plastic and the Ringke Fusion before, but I would like to use it without a case.
Not quite the same but I use a pouch case which means I can use my phone without a case most of the time but it's protected from damage should it fall out of my pocket or slip out of my hand. It might be a good alternative for you if you want both the protection and the ability to use the phone 'naked'. It also protects the screen so there's no need for a screen protector. The only issue is that it can be impractical since you have to take it out of and put it into the case a lot and you can't control the volume very easily unless you have controls on your earphones. This has worked fine for me for two years with my HD2 (not a single scratch on it) and hopefully it does so with the N4 too.

I left the HD2, after three years, for the Nexus 4. I had the extended battery on my HD2 so a case was necessary.
I am not currently using any sort of protection. It holds up pretty well, not a single scratch on it so far. I take excellent care of it, though. If it's not in my hand, it's in my pocket. I dropped it once, from my lap to the ground, which was carpeted. It had the stock screen protector it comes with on it though. I've been using it for about a month and a half without anything and it's still in mint condition.
I figure I'll enjoy the beauty of this device, unhindered by a case or screen protector. If I should get a scratch, then I'll live with it. Basically, what's worse? A screen protector that robs you of the great feel of the sloped glass in front, or a scratch? I think they're equally annoying, so I'm using it naked.
If you use it without a case you better be careful it doesn't slip out of your hands.

I have the poetic bumper case on my phone and dropped it numerous times and it held pretty well
My primary N4 (which is completely naked) has dropped onto tile floor at least four times now thanks to the house cat, and there isn't so much as a scratch or scuff anywhere. Works beautifully as well, but I'd still recommend keeping that phone close to the vest
Personally do not use it without a case.
The glass does not hold up well when dropped, Shatters easily. Have seen it happen
The phone is very slippery due to the glass back, so be careful. My friend has a N4 and he dropped it from his pocket and got a tiny crack in the top right corner, but the whole top half of the screen didn't work.

It holds up well, but, eh, its no tank. Scratch resistance is awesome. Not a single one. First time I ever dropped my phone though, I got a gnarly gash right on my proximity sensor. Not the worst that could have happened, but I had to buy an app like sanity so I can make phone calls without having to wait for the other party to hang up.
Overall great durability, just don't drop the bugger too much, which is slightly difficult considering this phone is like a wet bar of soap in prison or butter sitting out of the fridge while your making your favorite fatty meal, or ice cream on a hot spoon, or even.....you get the point. Haha
I didn't post this in the Q/A as I think it's rather more of a general discussion topic than a pure question but if it's still believed to belong there please do move it
With that said I've read through multiple threads in regards to how great the phone is and the general feel of it being great but it makes me wonder, those who say it feels great ergonomically and all, do you run a case or naked?
I do have the Griffin case on mine and let's face it. It does feel a bit different but I'm a bit worried about running it pure naked. Seems like it would get damaged way too easily.
I have the dev version, and even though it has the woven design back, I still find it a bit slippery in my hand. I have the Incipio Feather case on mine and absolutely love it. I do miss the dimple on the back with the case on, but it feels much more comfortable in my hand with the case, I don't feel like I'm gonna drop it.

Always naked. What's the purpose of a case?
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
I too have the woven black back and found it more slick than expected, but i wouldnt want it too grippy that it would grab in my pocket. This phone is slim and sexy. No reason for a case other than maybe drop protection. Don't drop your phone and keep it naked.
I was running naked but the woven threads of the back started to sneak out of the plastic right along the camera lens. Got a Sup case to fix that.

Well, first because this phone feels really unergonomic for me. It's really slippery and I feel like I'm holding a Dove soap bar. Second because I absolutely loathe scratches. If I see a scratch, I have to go get a new phone, even if it's a cheaper one.

If you get a thin-enough case, it will not add bulk.
I run a case on mine, because I keep the phone near the shower to listen to podcasts / youtube videos when I shower. The case seals up some of the "seams" around the phone (e.g. power button, volume rocker, SIM card slot). Reduces the potential entry-points for water to get into the device.
I'll get my dev edition tomorrow as well as a diztronic matte case. The back of the Moto X will be lucky to ever see daylight.
GNex was in the same type of case 99% and I don't mind the extra thickness. The guy I sold it to today probably didn't mind that it was flawless :good:
i went with a case because of drops and the size of the phone. I like the dove bar soap metaphor because thats exactly what its like for me. The phone was always falling out of my hand so i went with a little bit bulkier of a case. I also can't run naked (without beer obviously). I don't drop my phone often, but it is inevitable. When people say just don't drop it, run it naked, for me its like, who intentionally drops their phone. I am not careless but with how often i handle the phone in a day, its going to get dropped at some point over a week. And what happens when that drunk girl gets mad at me late at night because im not paying attention to her, she grabs that phone im playing with and chucks that thing. Don't no body can protect against that. I guess I could get rid of drunk girls, but weighing my options, I'll just strap a case on my phone...
I absolutely love the feel of this phone naked and I really don't like the extra bulk of a case. But despite that the only reason I have this phone is because I cracked my Nexus 4 without a case on and rendered it unusable. So yeah I use a case and just try my best to ignore how much worse it feels.

im using the incipio ngp case (i also have the griffin reveal, but i dont like it as much... the plastic feels weird on back).
i am somewhat of a klutz and i noticed i've knocked my phone off things a lot (like elliptical machines, desk at work, nightstand etc) so want to protect this guy this time haha.

depends...if I work from home, then bumper only; if outside, snap case from m site. i took some shots, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507719
I never use a case.
Just order a Dbrand skin and a simple bumper so it doesn't slip away from my hands.

Anybody have a customized X from Moto-maker? Would seem like a shame to cover up. I usually apply a clear skin (like a full body screen protector), but I have a feeling it won't look so good w/ the soft touch back. Wonder what others are doing to protect the custom versions.
hate to ask about bad experiences...but I'm considering this phone and wondering if any of you have dropped yours on a hard surface "naked" and been OK. I hate cases and I have dropped my current phone a few times on tile, even concrete, and survived alright. wondering if the X would last as well.
I run neked... I love the shape of the phone and it would be a shame to hide my custom moto x. I do have an extreme guard body wrap, just to add a little protection.
This is the first phone I ever felt comfortable running naked... The few times I ran my sgs3 alabuff, it would slip out of my hands. I don't think this phone has even come close to falling, it just sits so nicely in my hands.
AT&T Moto X rocking 4.4
In truth I only bought it on Amazon because of a special that ivoler was running.... buy on get one, or something like that. It is a thing of beauty, really. But a naked turbo is a vulnerable turbo so there are situations where a case is pretty much of a necessity. I had a thin clear plastic shell on the back of it prior to this which was okay but again, I prefer naked.
It really is a nice case. The synthetic leather looks a bit like real leather and even feels a bit like real leather. I bought mine in the brown color which is very natural looking. I am usually very sensitive to smells and this didn't have much of that synthetic leather aroma when I took it out of the box. When I purchased this you couldn't tell from the photos just how the phone is held in place so in case they still haven't updated the photos by the time you are looking at this I will tell you..... the phone snaps into one of these regular plastic shell backs and that back is bonded onto the synthetic leather. It certainly seems to be durable this way. I don't think the phone is going to slip loose from the case under any circumstances.
Function.... Like ipad, kindle or other covers, this cover has a bit of a sleep wake function.... close the cover and the phone goes to sleep. Open the cover and it wakes up. You will still need to do whatever it is you do (swipe, enter a password, put in a pattern, etc) to open the phone but you wont have to press the on button. There is a magnet that holds the cover closed when you want it closed. Not bad but not perfect. And, of course, if a call comes in you can see who it is through that window they have on front. This was a smart idea and functions well. You do not have to open the cover in order to answer the phone. This is a rather nice feature
The built in kickstand function well. More often than not my phone slides down close to flat. This feature isn't important to me because I don't watch video that way very often.
What I would like in a future incarnation of this case is a little pocket inside the cover that might hold a credit card or license or a drop of cash for those times when I don't feel like carrying more than my phone with me.
I still really really like my turbo to be naked but for those occasions when I want a case I am going to go out on a limb and say this might be close to a perfect case. It doesn't add much bulk which is an issue I have with most other cases.
Here's the link of the video of the original Motorola Droid Trbo Flip Case showing the features.

It is funny if you read this post while picturing someone trying to sell the case on an infomercial starting at the second par.
IMO the Nexus 6 was easier to use one handed. I can't believe how slippery this phone is, whenever I use it one handed I feel like I'm going to drop it (and I've actually done it several times already). This is surprising because the few reviews I saw said "the aluminum backing has a nice texture making the phone easier to grip." It's slightly easier to grip because it's thinner, but when I try to balance it on my fingers like I did the 6 so that I can reach entire screen with my thumb, it slips out of my hand very easily.
On my 6 I used a full body protector (no case) and didn't find the phone slippery at all. I'm not sure what I want to do with the 6P, a case (hopefully not), a "plastic film" full body protector on the back (again, hopefully not, I think it'll ruin the aluminum look), or nothing and risk dropping/breaking it every time I take it out of my pocket.
Maybe I just need to learn to hold it differently than I did the 6.
Any thoughts? What are others doing?
Thanks
Oh for me this phone is way eaiser to hold , the more narrow body really helps
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Nope, the 6p is definitely easier to hold. The fingerprint sensor acts as a dimple and it's narrower than the nexus 6.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I agree its narrower so it's easier to grip. But, when I'm trying to reach the far left of the screen or the top half of it, and I have to unwrap my fingers from left edge and slide to them to the back for that extra reach with my thumb, the phone feels much more precarious because of how slippery the back is. I've dropped it a couple times already and I never dropped the 6.
Don't have my 6p. But didn't have much problem with my N6 because the curved back and the case I had. My n6p case seems hard to hold, but might be easier with some weight. Lol
Sent from my Nexus 7
Yeah, I don't think you'll have a problem. I'm probably going to get a case because I think the plastic or rubber will be grippier than the aluminum is.
Well, not for me. But I can see how it could be a more slippery. But personally, I'll take it being slightly more slippery and remove the plastic back. This phone itself feels top quality in its build.
It's slippery. I ordered a brushed silver dbrand skin just to increase the grip when using one handed.

Yup. Definitely more difficult to hold than the 6 even though it's bigger. In fact, the only phone that got it right was the OnePlus One with the sandstone back. The biggest problem for me is that I normally hold the phone with the thumb closer to the upper left edge and the index, middle and fourth finger on the other side. With this phone, that's smack in the territory of the power and volume buttons. Worse, because of the fingerprint sensor, I want to keep my index finger near or abouts the sensor, which makes holding the phone safely even more difficult.
I still haven't figured out the right grip on this. I'm coming from the LG G3, which I thought was incredibly well designed for the screen to device ratio. To fit the front facing speakers, this phone is longer with huger top and bottom bezels. It's also got slightly more bevel on the sides. LG totally nailed it on the G3. It had a plastic back, but was never slippery like the Galaxy G3. The one terrific thing about the 6P is that there isn't any smudges whatsoever on the aluminium back. But it's too smooth. I hate putting any kind of a cover or film on the phone. But I think I'll have to. I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop it.

You really don't need your finger to move to the sensor unless you're going to use it? That can't be very often (unlock, purchase).

That's right. The fingerprint sensor is the feature about this phone that got me most excited. It's not the unlocking of the phone, but the unlocking of apps. Right now I'm using it for unlocking Nine for work email and Safe In Cloud. I'm hoping that I can use it on other apps soon like KeePass, Alarm.com, Cerberus, Dropbox, Solid Explorer (after I get root) etc. So I expect to be using it often. Ideally, my index finger would have been right next to the sensor. Not possible with this phone. So I need to find the correct grip.
Right now, as I'm typing on the phone, I'm using both thumbs and supporting it with my right pinky, holding it at an angle. Not a very good grip. If I'm in a place where someone could walk past and accidentally hit my arm, this phone would be lying on the floor. But you have to get used to we get every new phone. This one is no different. But it's not easy. And as the drop tests and repairability has shown, it would be an expensive proposition. I really baby my phone and have never had a case or screen protector on mine. This one looks to be an exception. So a tempered glass screen protector and hopefully a not too big case that will protect it in a fall.
