Root MJ7 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I've been trying to read up on different rootmethods and I was wondering if the "Root de la Vega" method works with android Stock android 4.3 and MJ7? I know that CF-auto root works with this version but that would trip my KNOX void. I've also been reading that some people got diffrent KNOX alerts after rooting their phone, does anybody know anything about this?

[Q] Does Universal Root De La Vega work for Sprint S4 after MJA/Knox bootloader?

I can't find any reference to "root vega" by searching this subforum, so I'm asking.. please be gentle if this is covered elsewhere. I know URDLV is available for the Note 3 on sprint and can be used to gain root on a stock rom without tripping the Knox warranty bit, and am wondering if it's possible to use it to flash a rooted, stock MJA or MK2 ROM onto the Galaxy S4?
I have a completely stock phone, just bought it last week and foolishly applied the OTA update without checking the forums first so I now have the Knox bootloader and have a knox counter in download mode. I've read that you can flash a rooted stock firmware on a Sprint Note 3 without tripping the knox bit and want to know if anyone out there has successfully flashed a stock MJA or MK2 firmware using the URDLV method on a Sprint Samsung S4.
I know I have a snapdragon processor, and that URDLV doesn't work with the Exynos chip, so I'm hoping that it since it sounds like it'll work in theory, that a brave soul has attempted this and can share any info. I only want root, I'm fine manually uninstalling the crap I don't need and I'm okay with using the stock rom, I just want root and know that if i use CF-auto-root that i'll trip the counter, or if i use Vroot I'm potentially using a piece of software that might have malware or spyware in it (the cons to using VRoot are all over the forums).
Anyone out there who can share their insights or experience? Thanks!

Any attempt to modify/temper the phone should render the Knox invalid thus Knox 0x1 as a flag that no Knox security warranty can be established on such devices.
Rooting is considered an attempt to modify the system.
So simple answer is No....
You root you can't use Knox app...

[Q] Rooting Note 3 from Telcel (Mexico)

Since I'm a new user, I can't post my question in the Universal Root de la Vega thread. I have the firmware shown on the images attached to this message... Can I root my note 3 without tripping knox using URDLV?

There is another solution than root de la vega. Follow this guide and you won't trip knox even if you root or install custom recovery/rom. You can also go back to 4.3 from 4.4.2 if kitkat is not your type.

But that guide requires to install a custom rom/recovery, and I want to stay with my current firmware/recovery, I just want to gain root access without tripping knox

Well... mi compilation number isN900W8UBUBMJ4 (as shown in the attached images a couple post ago). The firmware I used to patch with URDLV has the following details:
PDA: N900W8UBUBMJ4
CSC: N900W8TCEBMJ3
MODEM: N900W8UBUBMJ3
So, I asume that will trigger knox right? I ask a lot because here in Mexico, the note 3 has a price of $1,073 USD. As you can see, Telcel really overprice the phones, and I don't wanna lose warranty, but I wanna delete all the useless bloatware from Telcel.

The attached images on the first post says MHG which is why I said you can safely use urdlv. If it's MJ4, then using urdlv will trip knox. There is an app called Kingo that can root it but based on what I've read so far, it's hit or miss. Some had success rooting MJ4 without tripping Knox and then again some actually softbricked their phones and trip Knox. The guide that I linked you to will not trip Knox even if you install custom recovery and root your phone. The only caveat is you will have to update to 4.4.2. But should you need the warranty, you can always flash back to 4.3. Having said that, it's all up to you.

Well... I think then I will give it the big step... I considered the Klingo way, but as you said, is a coin toss, so I will take my chances and go with URDLV :good:

[Q] root galaxy s4 i9505 android 4.4.2 Knox 0x0

Hi guys,
I got my s4 i9505 2 weeks ago.
After booting I updated to Android 4.4.2. After I did that I did some research on how to root my device and was shocked about what I found out. I understand that there no chance of rooting the phone without flipping Knox tag (thus void warranty). I understand that there is a way (saferoot) if you have a pre 4.4.2 rom which I don't have any more. I read in the Knox Q&A that there is a method called root de la vega which does not flip the Knox tag. But if I understand the thread right you have to flash a rom and that will flip the Knox tag. I am lost here.
Further more I read that Samsung sometimes refuses to repair even hardware damages if the tag is flipped to void warranty.* I paid so much money that I really do not want to take that risk.
I could not find answers to the following questions. Maybe u guys can help me:
Is it true there is no known way to root a s4 with android 4.4.2 without flipping knox voiding warranty?
Is there no way to go back to a previous rom and use saferoot without voiding warranty?
Are developers working on a solution or will I have to decide to void warranty if I want to have root?
What does the Knox 0x0.sh in root de la vega method do ?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks guys !
There is no way the S4 to rooting without the Knox Counter to increase.
There is also no way to get back on Android 4.3 back.
To my knowledge there has not yet made no developer Knox to crack.
But your device i9505 support triangleaway so you can clear your flash counter but for i9500 it doesn't support yet.

Towelroot seems to be an option.
I managed to root my device Knox 0x0 !! Can you guys comment on that ?

yeah, I used towelroot and no knox was triggered !! amazing!
rooting 4.4.2
If you are on stock rom you can downgrade your kernel via odin and use towelroot to root without tripping knox. Then flash back the correct kernel for your room. Knox 0x0 but device status will be custom.

Definitive answer for rooting & tripping knox needed - 910C

A few methods out there for rooting,I've read they do trip knox and that they don't trip knox.
Most methods state android LP used but MM is out for a while now.
So I'm a bit confused :silly:
I thought custom recovery tripped knox not rooting?
Specifically I'm after rooting my 910C on 6.0.1 (seems to be European Hungarian version)
N910CXXS2DPK1
N910COXX2DPI2
N910CXXU1DPC1
I do not want to install custom recovery as yet, just want to root.
3 methods I know of are
CF's auto root
towel root
king root
Read about systemless root but not read up on that as yet.
So which one DOES NOT trip knox?
Thanks

Towel root only doesn't trip knox but sadly it does not work on note 4.it works with older devices like s3 s4 note 3 running jellybean kitkat.
Preety much All other methods will trip knox even kingroot.
best .and safe way is flash twrp and flash supersu.zip systemless. And this will trip knox for sure.
If you want knox then forget root you have to choose 1 of them.
