Hey guys,
So today I installed Android kit-kat (the nexus 5 port Version) and after that I installed a mod in order to reduce the softkey heights on the bottom. But when i now press the power button for a longer time it doesn't show the menu but it directly restarts My phone. Could you pls help me. THX in advance

I wasn't sure how to search for this, but for certain games a new Nav Bar button pops up next to the back button (the one with the horizontal lines stacked together). Whenever I press it nothing happens. Anyone know what this button is for?
I'm also running AOKP on a Nexus 10.
On Samsung touchwiz tablets it's the menu button. Same thing as the three vertical dots on stock Android. It typically only shows up when there's a menu to use, so I'm not sure why it isn't doing anything.

It looks like the modify keyboard icon.
It's an AOKP thing

look in the settings of that app and see you can regain them or do a data factory reset. Look in Softkeys service and untick Run Service and Run service at Boot and reboot.
I had the same problem recently. If this method above won't work, just reflash your Rom and will appear normally. That's what I did.

Just a shot since I haven't ran any custom Roms yet but in the past long pressing the power button and in that menu expanded desktop used to add/remove the soft keys I think.

Hey just signed up with my new email and I am unable to post of the PAC forum yet. so i figured i would get some help here. Anybody have any idea how to disable the back and menu key backlight. I hate the lights coming on even for just a second, its a unnessecary (but small) battery drain, and i really like how flat and black my phone looks and would rather not have those buttons show.
You may disable key light as it. Setting/my device/display /touch key light duration /always off. If I helped. Press the thanks button.

Thank you but i think that is how to disable to lights on the stock rom. I am using the 9/4 nightly of the PAC rom. the setting is not under display and lights.
It used to be under advanced settings. that is no longer an option. any ideas?
Use a different launcher like nova, apex or adw, long press the home screen and add shortcut. Add advanced settings. There ya go

Move settings across to the left so you get the screen with PAC settings scroll to 'buttons' down the bottom and you can turn them off in there

Howdy,
This may be a dumb question but is there no contextual menu in stock Android? I know that many apps have the icon that is three vertical dots but on my Note 2 I can bring up a menu in any app by pressing the the menu nav button. I know that's a Samsung button, but is that entire pop up menu feature not in stock? I am sort of lost without it. For example, I can't find My Apps on the Play Store. On my Note 2 its listed in the pop up menu. On my Nexus 7.... I have no idea. I feel like I've looked everywhere. The three dot menu doesn't list it.
Thanks

OK I found my apps (tap little download icon) but still wondering in general. That pop up menu is really handy.

The three dots will come up in the bottom right corner when an older app still needs it. Overflow actions are being moved to the actionbar for devices without a hardware menu button. I recommend getting used to apps having the button on the action bar. It makes it much easier to know when there are available overflow options.

The problem with the menu button is that it was always there, whether it did anything or not. It was impossible to know if you could bring up a menu without trying it on each screen.
Exactly. That's why I am glad google is phasing it out.

Custom ROMs, you can make a permanent menu button. Mostly goes unused though.

OK, thanks guys. I will learn to live without it.

Um.. First off, on tablet sized devices the Play store has a dedicated Download/My Apps button at the top. Second, my Nexus 7 (OG) on 4.3 has the overflow button in the top-right corner.. Yours does not??
