Attention friends!
My friend @paulove have just flashed the new XXUEMK4 from here:
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/11/17...-3-test-firmware-for-galaxy-note-ii-gt-n7100/
His bootloader was updated to MK4 but with a little "gift" from samsung:
Knox Void Warranty 0
When he tried to flash recovery and it changed to Knox Void Warranty 1

Please everyone, read this to understand everything you need about Knox Void Warranty 1/0:
http://omegadroid.co/wanted-knox-void-warranty-0x1/
DO NOT FLASH THE NEW BOOTLOADER - Unless you know what you are doing!
MJ5 Bootloader is safe to downgrade and the wifi works on this bootloader.
XXUEMK4 Bootloader is not safe!!
My friend says that he can not downgrade, because after he tried he got "Kies Emergency Mode" and his odin failed.
After he installed MK4 back everything worked again.
DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE IF YOU HAVE THE NEW BOOTLOADER!
Tamir.
knew it samsung will take his time to integrate new knox s*** not new features.. lol

Yeah I have seen that too so tried with wifi patched and worked fine.. So still wifi patch will wifi patch should work but I will try to look to this bootloader when time permits. But still I doubt this new bootloader may have blacklisted old bootloader and it may make irreversible changes. Also if downgrade remain successful, further upgrade may cause issue.

to fix odin fail, we have to back to 4.1.2.
first, good thing that there is 2 stable leaks without this flag.I guess we should all stick to MJ5 for a while.
But now i'm thinking what should my nest device be? I loved Samsung devices, because they are so easy to root, flash roms and still you can save the warranty. Now my blacklist contains, HTC, Sony, Motorola and Samsung.Do Asus and LG lock their bootloader too?
And there is some bad news from Google itself. seems they came up with methods to help OEM for preventing unlocking bootloader in 4.4 KitKat.

Is there a way I can downgrade this bootloader?
the way they took time to slowly yet steadily introduce the Note 2 forums to the full force of the Knox poison you would believe how much control they already have over these forums.
it can only be LOVE, true love ;p
May their conscience trouble them over this; if they have one, that is.
My note ii is owned by me, bought it and not on contract. Flag is now 1. Still runs fine, and I don't need knox stuff on the phone.

Hi, the problem is that I can not use the camera of S4. The first day was fine but suddenly stopped working. When I open the app the screen stays black with buttons and options of the camera and when I press responds to 10 sec.
Occasionally the camera is perfect, so it must be a problem with Software ... I have restored the Stock Roms from Kies, Odin, etc.. donot what else to do ...
Any suggestions? regards

The bootloader thing sucks... Don't think I will be updating. They shouldn't force Knox on all consumers. Previously, I've seen it marketed towards corporate users for tighter security, but on ordinary consumers? It just doesn't make sense.

Guys i am new to samsung and buying a refurbished S4 9500 india version with 6 months warranty from samsung with 4.2.2 firmware on it for Rs 20,000 actual price is now for new device is Rs 28,000
so i wanted to know that is it safe to upgrade and root it to 4.3 without having knox bootloader ?? ( dont want 4.4.2 because some people said it cant write to memory card + we cant downgrade then)
i dont want to get into knox thing and dont want to void the warranty also. so to avoid knox should i do this ?
1. Root 4.2.2 + install custom recovery ( dont know how to do that because its old firmware and all i can find info is about new firmwares)
2. flash 4.3 knox free stock rom ( i want only stock rom no custom rom because stock rom offers better camera features and shutter speed etc. etc.)
3. if i dont root or install custom recovery in 4.2.2 and simply flash via odin 4.3 stock firmware 2013 December 4.3 I9500XXUEMK9 will it contain knox ???
the main thing i want is to have 4.3 stock firmware with Root + custom recovery But no knox
is this the only things i need to do ?
do i need to keep in mind something else also ?
i am from nexus 4 so u guys must be knowing how we are addicted to flashing roms and kernels everyday but its not at all complicated like this

its surprising that the device is still on 4.2.2
I will prefer checking binary counter and knox status first,it may happen that its already tripped..
if its normal, then check for a Knox free rom then flash it,u can root it later.
also,it will be better if u go to Samsung and get it checked, whether its still in warranty or not(just ask.them for a software upgrade, and when they say all okay, give any excuse and leave..)

Is there an OTA that we can use to update to 4.4.2?

You could flash any of the 4.4.2 firmwares available via Odin. Depends how you feel about tripping the Knox counter.
I'm in Australia as well and after my s3 I knew we would be one of the last to get any updates so I just went straight to 4.4.2 via odin.

If he allways install a new oficial version from odin it will never trip Knox counter, i´ve done it myself, i´m using a version from the Netherlands. it will change your csc though...
Also from Aus here. Gave up waiting officially as of yesterday and installed the UK (BTU CSC) firmware via ODIN with no issues at all. I didn't need to wipe my data, it all just worked as though it was a standard upgrade.
Next time I will just import one. Especially with trigger-happy KNOX I couldn't be bothered worrying about whether my Aus warranty is intact (I pad $300 "Aus tax" to buy it local vs import - not worth it). I doubt I tripped my Knox flag as it's an official unmodified first party firmware from Samsung that I installed..

When flashing other regions firmware, sometimes it comes with the additional bloatware from the region. It's normal.
You can just disable the bloatware from apps manager.
If u tired waiting and wanna try kk, just give it a shot.
Once ur region comes with kk, u can always flash back from odin.

From what I remember I don't really notice a difference in boot logo. But then again, I've always had the unbranded XSA version. If you have a branded version, it will likely revert your boot logo to an unbranded version which may/may not be desirable to you.

It depends on local laws. In the US, if you trip Knox Samsung can void the warranty at their discretion. I've heard that in some European nations, Samsung is required by law to honor the warranty for physical defects even if Knox is tripped.

i have the tmonile version which apparently cannot be rooted right now because of a locked bootloader. but in the developer options there is an option that says "OEM unlock" which is turned off by default. i assumed turning it on would solve the locked bootloader issue. can someone explain to me what that option is for?? what am i missing??
also, the only phone i've ever rooted is my htc one m8...and it was well after its release so there was no issue. what is the likeliness that that the S7 US version will be rootable?? is this a normal thing...if i cant root this i will return it promptly

Despite the presence of that switch (which is there merely as a standard part of Android's developer options), your bootloader cannot be unlocked and your device cannot be rooted.

Going back through TEKHD's deceased T-Mobile S7 rooting thread, I think this is one of the truly saddest things I've seen on XDA:
TEKHD said:
Well... it all comes down to this...Locked Bootloader = total system/all partitions lockdown... (apparently our device is 100% locked) and that means our only hope is something like this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016 (as an example)basically, we need to find a vulnerability "Bug" so we can at least get a chance to attempt an exploit... (and ultimately gain root)... assuming there is such "bug" / vulnerability... , that will most likely allow us full access to the system partition only... meaning, no kernels, no custom recovery (no TWRP)...also... IF... we can find that bug... and IF we can actually root thru it... that "bug" will be corrected via OTA/Update....and that means...for example... with Firmware G935TXXXXXX0001 we can all have root... but maybe with the next Firmware G935TXXXXXX0002 ... we are all back to square 1... with no root... so... we have to be reaaaaaaally careful when updating/OTA's, etc... basically... this is really really sad/bad news for us... the device has NO DEVELOPMENT FUTURE guys...

I feel terrible for all the guys who trusted T-Mobile and bought the S7/E from them thinking that the bootloader would be unlocked.
For now, the only hope for the Snapdragon version is:
1. Spam John Leger's Twitter account demanding that T-Mobile walk the talk of being the un-carrier.
2. Look for an exploit like PingPong root on the S6. However, that will be short-lived since Samsung will patch the exploit on the next security update.

I wouldn't recommend flashing the full TAR. If you'd like a guarantee to get back, I'll be making separate flashables.
for example i'll just rip apart the tar and make an odin flashable of everything except the bootloader.

You should still be able to revert to 5.1.1 as the bootloader fuse is still 4 ...just like all the other sprint MM roms i posted you can downgrade without issues

Like many rooted users that are contemplating returning the S7 due to locked bootloader, they, like you, retain a flashable rooted device.
I think Samsung just ruined a good thing for this community. I had hoped for a rooted Note 6 one day soon, but losing all hope. Samsung says the carriers wanted locked bootloaders. Sprint and T-Mobile deny that claim. They should get a room and work that out!

Anyone try it yet? ?
Sprint just announced it, OTA starts 3/24. Hurray!

I'm sure that won't last. If it does someone will find a way to root it still. They always do!

What Samsung has done in the past with kernels and recovery is child's play compared to the locked bootloader. It would take a vulnerability exploit or a signed key unlocked bootloader to root that unless Samsung reverses its position. They just don't own mistakes that way. Even if it's a path to destruction, Samsung will march on like a soldier.
I personally think they've come to a place where they can willingly accept the loss of a few that can't do without root. Sad; Sprint and T-Mobile claim Samsung did this. Samsung claims all carriers in US wanted locked bootloaders.

going to back up my phone and give this a flash, i was going to anyway mine as well update a day early i guess
Just for what it's worth, my moto DX2 was rootable via an exploit of charging mode however to this day the bootloader remains locked down. A locked bootloader is no joke.
Also flashed the PC1 baseband via odin have to say it looks like my connectivity had improved markedly.

I could careless about the bootloader if they get root though. Which they have done before. Root but locked bootloader...I don't really modify much other then remove some stupid bloat and add in xposed for Amplify+Greenify. I can live without those things. I'd just like to be able to ditch the bloatware.
