Since installing latest Google search app, my gs4 clears the launcher defaults every like 10mins. When I press the home button it asked me if I want to choose the easy mod launcher or regular launcher. Despite I always choose to have the regular launcher as always, ten minutes later it ask me again which I wanna choose.
Is anyone having the same kind of issue?

Hi guys,
i have been using default tab home and i want to try other wonderful homes like go launcher and launcher pro.
Could you tell me what do i need to do in order to replace home and once i install new home does it mean it would overwrite my existing home and i would not be able to revert it back to tab default home. Do i need to root my device?

download launcher pro from market
also try ADW launcher
No, you don't need root.
When you dowload it from the Marketplace, the next time you hit your home key your phone will throw up a list of all the installed Launcher/Home applications asking you to choose which one you want to use. At the bottom will be a checkbox asking if you want to "always" use the application you choose.
If you check the always box and later become unsatisfied with that launcher and want to go back to the old one, you can either download something like "Home Switcher" from the Marketplace, or go into Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications and find your current launcher (the one you last chose to "always" use). Click on the clear defaults button on its page and next time you hit home you'll be presented with the choices again.
Thanks a lot for such a nice reply. I am starting with launcher pro now. Do you have any preferred list of homes?

Panda home is an interesting one to try.
I use ADW Ex myself. I have not used Launcher Pro in months, and never on the tab so I can't speak to its stability or usefulness, but both ADW and Ex have been very good to me on the tab (I like the added features and snappiness of the paid version).
trying out Zeam right now, seems simple and clean. like the swipe to launch feature
For anybody looking for function rather than form, try *Spark. Its in the market

You didn't mention what launcher you are using. If you are using an alternative launcher, you could try un/reinstalling it before you do this. But ultimately you might have to go this route.
Thanks for all your help. It was the launcher that locked my homescsreen adw. Unlocked in adw settings and all is ok.
Thanks again

Asking on behalf of some friends from work after they got their updates tonight. They are running unrooted only thing not stock is they were both using go launcher or launcher pro. After the update they cant see the new blur launcher. I went through and cleared there defaults and after pressing home it is not even shown in the list to select it. Any ideas? Was thinking factory reset but if it isnt showing in the list I would think it isnt there.
What list are you talking about? Go to settings > privacy > factory reset

When no default is set and pressing home. Didnt even see it in the manage application list. One of them was wanting to do a reset anyways so Im sure she has done so already.
I recall seeing somewhere that GB automatically makes 3rd party launchers default. If they really want to see the new GB launcher they will have to uninstall LP or golauncher. Not sure about golauncher but launcher pro has a backup feature in the settings of LP.

so I installed the latest update for TiBu, and I performed a system backup. after completion, my wallpaper reverted back to stock, and when I try to change it by long pressing on the home screen and selecting wallpapers, I get an error message saying that the "app is not installed".
I also tried going into the gallery app, selecting a picture, and choosing "set picture as", the app force closes.
I tried using the stock launcher and the holo launcher, but to no avail. I was on the modded framework.apk, but even after reverting back to the original framework (and disabling LMT), I still cannot change my wallpaper. I'm wondering if TiBu had anything to do with it?
Is there an app that actually applies a wallpaper?
thanks!
Zedge allows you to apply then from within the app

Good idea. I was able to get it to work via picasa tool app.
Still odd that I could no longer do it from the home screen.

weird, so this happened again! I performed a system data backup via TiBu, and the phone's wallpaper went back to stock - still cannot long press to change the wallpaper (or change it via gallery).
my only work around is to upload a pic to my picasa album, and then set it from there.
has anyone had this issue? I'm guessing I'm missing some app?

This sounds like one heck of an obnoxious hassle. Are you using a stock launcher? If not, each launcher has their gestures and such for what long pressing the screen would do. I'm assuming you're using the stock launcher but if not, check the gestures on the custom launcher.

I'm going to be using a launcher instead of touchwiz. Is there anything that can go wrong by freezing touchwiz?

No need to freeze or uninstall touchwiz launcher.
Just find a launcher you like (or more than one launcher)
and each time the phone goes to home screen it will
ask which launcher to use.
Once you find your favorite launcher and the phone asks
you which to open, checkmark the little square where it
says "use as default".
After doing that the phone will launch what every laucher
you selected to be default each and every time unless you
change the default in settings (Application manager)
Good luck!

Wouldn't touchwiz waste more battery coupled with another launcher
No. It does not become active while another launcher is being used.
