Roam issues - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! Has anyone ran into roaming issues on their G2? I have everything setup for roaming but I still often times get the grey triangle in the status bar saying I lost data because I left my home network.
I do remember back in my HTC days that even though you told the phone its Ok to roam, it still wouldn't enable it unless you added the data widget and enabled it through there.
Any help would be great, I've attached my settings for you guys to see.

I thought verizon was supposed to be allowing free tethering on 4G phones after the FCC came after them. One thing you can try is bluetooth tethering, not as good as wifi tethering and it may not work on all devices but at least verizon doesn't block it.
The first rooted tether app still works

Which app is that?
How does this belong in the hardware hacking forum in any way, shape, or form?
(I would have reported it but the 60 second report throttle got in the way... This forum is full of stuff that should not be here.)

Weird Operator - @@@@@@@@@@@@@

Just got my Nexus 4 and for some reason instead of saying Orange or EE where my network should be it just displays @@@@@@ @@@@@@@@.
Anyone ever heard of this before?
EDIT: XDA is trying to format what my operator shows, its basically a lot of @ signs
Anyone had this? Is there anyway I can just hack the string and display a custom operator?
Are you getting a signal?

The Modaco Toolkit can rename your operator name. I've never heard or seen this bug. It's used with the xposed framework. So you need to be rooted.

Yea I do, signal is fine. I'll try that app, thanks!
Didn't work for me! I am rooted, but entered a custom operator, rebooted and nothing changed.

Wifi turning itself on randomly

Anyone else has this problem?
Is there a way to see what process is responsible for these sporadic activations?

Under the Wi-Fi settings is an advanced section. If you have those sections checked to turn off Wi-Fi when unavailable or to disconnect when signal is weak (I have the former checked, the latter unchecked), you may want to uncheck both and see if that solves your issue.
VZW LG G2
I'm having the same problem, and I just checked my WiFi settings and everything is unchecked. TMobile d801version.

Same problem here on sprint version. Bugs the hell out of me. Connection optimizer is off and boxes unchecked. Has to be a way to disable this.

shaking pop up screens while typing.

hello all I have googled around a bit and haven't found this anywhere but if it is please point me in the right direction. I'm stock rooted lgg2 via and loving it. just using a few minor xposed tweaks. however I have noticed when I use a few random apps that involves some sort of pop up window. (liked renaming a file in root browser/ quick message reply) the pop up window itself violently shakes (left right) and the text will not populate while I type until I press the back button to lower the keyboard. which then populates normal. very odd. anyone else experience this?

Not sure what causes it, but i have had the same experience with root browser. No other apps though. Definitely think it is only certain apps vice an overall os issue. Kind of glad to hear its not just me.

what is the cause?
I'm not sure just when I rrename a folder in root browser is when I notice it most. but it's not consistent that's the thing. sometimes is happens sometimes it doesn't lol

don't know how I got this, but I have a spot on my screen which doesn't register touches. I have attached a quickmemo of what I'm talking about. can it be fixed, and how?

update touchscreen firmware, if not, it's a hardware defect.
there's plenty of these threads around
You can try update firmware but probably won't help. I have it too, for the second time. The fix is to replace the screen.
It often happens when charging the phone while doing something that makes it heat up. The cpu gets too hot and fries that part of the screen.
It can definitely happen without charging. I'm using a different phone now.
