Hi guys. I recently flashed stock jellybean 4.3 on my S4 and am now hoping to re-root and install a new custom rom but would like a little help before I proceed.
I was using omega rom previously on 4.2 and enjoyed it so was hoping to install version 14 on my updated phone.
My problem is that I need to choose between one of the two tar files available dependant on whether I have the old bootloader XXUB or the new bootloader XXUD. Where do I find out which bootloader I have? My baseband version is i9505xxuemj7.
My second question is (sorry noobish!) can I install clockworkmod and then flash this pre-rooted rom or must I root before flashing clockworkmod and then install the rom?
If Im asking in the wrong section or am being a total noob I do apologise. I have only rooted once previously and came from years of 'ahem' apple iphone use
Any help greatly appreciated guys.

Months ago I flashed my phone (AT&T S4 I337 running MLD baseband) to stock 4.3 ROM (JWR66V). I have TWRP installed as a custom recovery and the phone is working fine. However, I don't have root access when the OS is running. No sure why.
Anyway, I'm bored and there are a few nagging bugs, so want to give Cyanogenmod a shot. My questions for you are.
1) can I just download the appropriate CM release and flash it?
2) Do I need to reroot? If so, whats the best method for me?
If its really risky, I'm not interested. But if it's a matter of just flashing the rom, I'd like to give it a try. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Hello all,
I recently upgraded my phone to 4.4 kitkat through CM insatller. It current runs CM 11 with CWM 6.34.
As per ROM manager my phone is not rooted.
I just found out that Samsung has released the 4.4 updated and the firmware is available only for manual upgrade.
I want to know if I can copy the zip file on the SD card and flash it like I normally do or do I need to do it through Odin?
Please advice
Thanks
*Sorry if this questions was posted in the wrong thread.
Since that is official ROM, you need to flash it from Odin. It will also flash (new) bootloader.
Hey guys,
Can you help out with a newbie question.
Im running android 4.4.2 on a rooted I9505 flashed with GPE edition rom. Im currently running I9505XXUEMKF baseband on a I9505 recognised as I9505G. On meteor network in Ireland.
My problem is Id like to get OTA updates, but these fail as I have TWRP installed. As I understand it this can be overcome by reflashing the stock recovery. Is this correct?
So my question then is how to know which stock recovery to flash? & can I do a backup of the current one I have installed in case something goes wrong?
Looking at this thread in development subform. & several are listed.

Hi all, I want to install a 4.4.4 ROM. I haven't been around the forums for a while (I've been satisfied with my rooted stock 4.2.2 MDL), but now I feel it is time to upgrade.
First off, the recovery I have right now is CWM 6.0.3.2 touch recovery. Is that OK? Or is it outdated? Does it have auto-loki?
Secondly, will I still be rooted after upgrading to 4.4.4? If not, is there a known root process?
Thanks to all! I really want to get back into the stock Android scene.
Hello, I apologize if this has been covered before (I've been only able to find information regarding 4.4.2 to 5.0) but I am wondering if I would have any issues with updating to Jasmine ROM from 4.3 for my Verizon Note 3 that is being used on T-Mobile's network. My phone is already rooted so I would just need to install Safestrap and flash the new ROM correct? Sorry again for the very basic question; I am very new to flashing. Thanks in advance for any help!
