Nexus 7 bricked itself? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I picked up my nexus 7 after a week of not using it and connected it to a charger. Nothing happened, not even the battery icon to show its charging. Left it on for 6 hours, still nothing, doesn't even power on. Never been rooted but I have bricked my old phone before and I can say my nexus is behaving the same way. Could it of possibly bricked itself or is this a hardware defect? I have no warranty anymore so dont suggest sending it back either. Thanks!

Inspect the USB connector for bent or damaged pins, it is likely that battery ran dry and USB is borked where it won't charge.

Any luck yet? I had the same problem once when I left mine for a few weeks.
Holding both volume and power buttons seemed to work for me.
Hope you get it sorted

There r only 3 solutions
1) Charge your nexus 7 for at least an hour
2) take out the battery and push it back in
3) hard reset your nexus 7 or keep holding the power button for 60 seconds

Did I brick my device?

Here is the story, I was copying a video to my nexus 7 and the device froze so I held the power button until it turned off. I tried to turn on the device and nothing happened. The whole time plugged in to my computer. Any ideas?
I was running sabermod.

Have you tried holding the power button down for a long time? Unplug it from the computer first.

No signs of life when plugged in? Some users report that it may work if you unplug and replug the battery.

Battery and software issue?

Today I discovered the code *#0228# on my gt-i9500. And seems to display battery for info. If I click the "quick start button" battery readings drop about 40%. If I do it twice or three times it goes to connect your charger.
Is this an issue?

Same here, battery drops after pressing Quick Start. Don't know why, though and if it's supposed to be like that ^^
Try to pull your battery out for 1 minute then putt it back in.it should go back to normal level again.

Galaxy s4 turn off and restart time?

Hey guys, I was just wondering exactly how long it takes to turn off or restart galaxy s4 i337. After the mf3 update (unrooted) it takes me a good 45seconds to a minute just to turn off. (hold down power button and select 'restart' or 'power off'). How long does yours take? When I power off, the blue led light shows, and there's a blue circle on the bottom of the screen which always spins for a bit and then stops spinning exactly when it reaches a vertical direction of 6 o'clock . (directly up and down) then right before the screen turns off, which is usually 45 seconds later after the spinning stops, the phone gives a short vibrate and the phone turns of completely. Thanks guys.

That sounds about normal. I think mine takes about 30 or longer. I just set it down haven't ever timed it
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk 4
Yeah but for me it's a slight bother. My camera app starts glitching and just doesn't respond... Shows black screen instead and crashes. Only resolves after a restart. And I take tons of shots... Guess I'll just deal with it. I love this phone too much haha. Thanks btw!

When I got my s4 before 4.3 booting was about 15-20 seconds, same for shutdown. Hated it! Too much background processes and bloat. 45 seems a bit long though.. I just flashed a better rom and kernel than Samsung's touchwiz. Takes about 5-10 for startup and shutdown.

If I have mf3, unrooted, is there anyway to minimize my power off time? I asked my cousin and my friend and theirs took 10 seconds to shut off approximately. Same phone

if you don't want to root to remove bloatware you can just disable them

br4nd3n mentioned too much bloat and background processes, and you didn't say anything about already disabling them so that's why I said that

Try this, but beware, don't do it in bulk! My phone got stuck on the att screen after I tried reboot and ultimately had to factory restore. Just move apps from SD card back to device storage. Now it just takes 8 seconds to shut off for me.

Glad to hear.that's probably my first time helping someone in here.if only I waited 5 minutes so everything could have moved back to my device storage I wouldn't have had to factory restore. Good luck!

Gs4 haptic feedback turns off automatically

When the battery goes down to 15%, haptic feedback turns off by itself and I have to manually put it back on even after charging it again. This gets annoying after a while. What should I do? (i337)

Charge your phone before it gets to 15%.
Battery life is optimized when the charge is kept between 20-80%.

Battery suddenly drops to 0%

Hi,
Since about a week ago my nexus suddenly started to die at about 30-40%, it depends. I don't really care about the fact that my battery is empty, but the fact that it happens on 30% and I don't receive a notification at 14% is really annoying. Is there a fix for this?
I'm running Aicp with stock Aicp kernel.
EDIT: Since I stopped charging my battery percentage hasn't changed for about half an hour.
Edit 2: I rebooted and now it's 41%.. Really strange

It's getting worser now, it usually turns off when it's around 40% and around 50% I lose connection with mobile network and can't connect any more. I've tried different radio's but had no effect. I'd really like to know how to fix this. Or is the only solution to buy a new battery?

Take the back off the phone and see if your battery is bulging. This sounds like a battery issue. I had similar symptoms on my last phone. I took the battery out and spun it like a top.

Yeah I had it with my old galaxy Y too, my battery became so fat the battery cover didn't fit any more. But that happened slightly, this came out of nothing.

Haha, I was with friends and suddenly I noticed that I was able to spin my phone, and together with the fact that the battery was acting strange I thought it must have been swollen. And yesterday I saw a little lump.
