Clock fonts (like Chronus) not right on LG based roms? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I haven't seen it mentioned but I've noticed on LG based roms when there is a clock like in Dashclock or Chronus where the hours are supposed to be bold and minutes not, on LG roms its more like thick and less thick. It should look like the first picture but it always looks like the second one on either the lock screen or home screen. Bothers the crap out of me, anyone find out why or find a work around?

I've wondered the same. Dashclock has the same issue. I guess it's part of the fonts installed in the system.
Written on Note 2 running BeanStalk *The Fine-Tuned AOSP*

Yeah, I changed my system font hoping it would help but didn't change. You would think the font would be specific to the widget and the system wouldn't have any effect on it, hopefully someone here has a fix.

Same for me too. Who knows

I'm surprised that this hasn't been made into a bigger deal. I have the same issue and have searched high and low, yet no solutions seem to be out there. It's quite frustrating.
Anyone have any ideas?

Here is how to fix it. This issue is due to the font in the system.

[REQ] Signal / Wi-fi / Operator on the left side of status bar

You know, like in MIUI v5? Is there any ziptheme mod, or does anyone know what do I have to edit to have those icons on the left side of the staus bar?
Thanks in advance.
I also REALLY want this. I'm surprised no one has already made this happen, it seems like a no brainer customisation feature.

Great find
I found something similiar, involved editing xml files after decompiling sytemUI, but for an older Android version, so it didn't work. I will decompile his file and check for differences.
I'm currently working on modifying the systemUI.xml of my PA rom which should work on most AOSP roms. I'm trying to adjust icon dimensions to allow for a larger signal strength icon to simulate the new ios7 dot style signal strength icon. Not that relevant... But while I'm there I'll see if I can't make a simple switch sides mod.
Make a paint image or something or find a screen shot of exactly what you want or what side and such. I don't want to forget icons.

Glaxy s4 lack of keyboard pop up animation

For some reason im obsessed with the lack of keyboard animation on galaxy s4. it just pops up out of nowhere. every other phone including galaxy s i9000 has an animation that comes from buttom smoothly. but in this device there is no animation. i've rooted my device and installed arrow rom 3.1 but its still the same. i've checked other threads but none of it helped me. i've tried anim mod and it just changed the overall animations but not the keyboard's. I dont know why but i just cant enjoy the phone without that animation. is there a way to add an animation that i can install for that?
Thanks in advance
I guess no animation is for quick response and less latency for using the keyboard. Any animation although visually appealing, but will be not practical as performance matters over quality for fast keyboard access.
| Mobile Message
Fair enough, but personaly i prefer an animation. they should have added an option for that. So is there a way for me to add an animation ?
from my searches through the internet it saddens me that i am far too obsessed with that keyboard animation, it looks like no one cares about it besides me

+1. It looks glitchy to me. Specially the messaging app thread with messages inside. Pop your keyboard and the messages kind of jump suddenly upward and the keyboard appears out of nowhere. Actually there are a lot of ugly UI and weird animations in touchwiz that I am not a fan of. The only reason I have this phone is functionality and features which no doubt is second to none.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
IIRC the ultra keyboard app has animations, you could try that.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I'm also concerned about that
You guys are not alone, actually, I've been searching for the reason of the lack of himation of the keyboard, it's not just my phone because I have tested it on 5 different phones running the Exynos and Snapdragon processors. Probably, they forgot to add it or didn't notice it lacked in the Touchwiz build.
I'm obsessed with animations and every minimal design of the phone, I have the Omega ROM and tweaked just about every part of the phone, it runs super smooth in comparison to the stock software, the JB stock animations are awesome but I CAN'T FIND AN APP OR MOD TO CHAMGE OR AT LEAST ADD AN ANIMATION TO THE KEYBOARD, IT IS SO ANNOYING! IS ANYBODY NOTICING THAT??
There are not reviews mentioning that problem, just some threads without answer on xda and AndroidCentral, DEVELOPERS, COULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO EDIT THE KEYBOARD ANIMATION? PLEASE HEAR US.
I KNOW ULTRA KEYBOARD HAS ANIMATIONS! But this is a system level problem which has to be solved. Thanks.
I've downloaded the ultra keyboard and it has animation which is awesome but it doesnt support the language that I need. Which is bad because i was using swift keyboard/swipe, because of that Im havimg hard time with ultra keyboard. So +1 to Andresgomezsar. Is there a way to fix it for all the keyboards?
I also want too much a mod or something to add effect on the keyboard, is so ugly the way it appears on the screen!!
It's a bug, hope they solve it in 4.3 update!

It's not a bug, it's intentional code added by Samsung that disables the animations.

Under all apps it is called clock widget. Not sure what the official apk name is. It's probably the lg one that you mentioned. If you dont mind,PM me a link on the files so I can grab them or share them with me through google if you would like.
The lg clock widget definitely has references in it to quick cover. I was only able to look at it for a bit, but it had all the colors and mentions of the fancy watch faces as well. I didn't see where that would get activated though. I was going to look at lglockscreen tonight to see if there was a way in there to add more widgets. Let me know if you find anything and if i can help. Good luck

So i haven't found anything in the framework. I'm gonna see if i can get ahold of systemui or the launcher app and look into both of those. I did however create a slightly modified clock widget app for quick window. If someone would like to test for me... The only differences should be that purple is changed to green and i took out the backdrop faded 8 behind each number. I would appreciate a tester to let me know if the mods worked or not.

I have had this happen as well. I don't know why it does it. It appears to happen randomly. I have been able to make it go away and show the whole word if you pinch zoom in and out until you find a zoom level that contains all the words. That is the only workaround I've found. If anyone has any better ways to make it stop, please say so.

Yeah I never had the issue on my S3 but I was running a custom CM based custom ROM. I'm surprised that there isn't more mention of it as I would think there are a lot of people changing their DPI once rooted.

Very true, I am on VZW so no custom ROM for me as of yet. I just got the S5 for a good deal. I am coming from a Moto X DE and LG G2. I miss both but I also like a few things with the S5. But the 480 DPI on this phone makes me feel like I'm running 640x480 on a 21" LCD.. Very sad that they cant allow different resolutions for large screen devices at the least.

Anyone found a quick fix to this issue at hand (misalignment on lockscreen)?
If so, which App Settings app would be used to control the lockscreen DPI? I'm pretty sure lockscreen was part of SystemUI but won't that change my system DPI as well?

Keyguard helped make the circles on the fingerprint lockscreen bigger - but it is leaning more to the left because the lockscreen is scaled.

Not sure if everyone already figured this out but setting the systemui to 480 in app settings does fix the lockscreen issue. You just have to make sure that you reboot the phone. Unfortunately systemui controls a lot of the things that I want to have the lower DPI such as status bar. I then had to set 480 for the camera and the incallui to fix them.

SystemUI is basically most of the phone and the reason why people adjust it below stock in the first reason.

There is no fix for the lock screen. Samsung compiles all the firmwares with only one dpi in mind. To fix it someone would have to decompile keyguard.apk and increase all the values to the specific dpi. Pretty big project.
I wish the status bar and quicksettings were separate from the systemui then we could probably take care of them with the app settings xposed mod too
