Kies not recognizing tab

Ok, first off, yes, ive searched through general and development, but havent found anything that helped me to get it working. Ive downloaded the latest version of kies, set my tab to the original launcher, made sure debugging is off, and connected tab to computer, win7 64 bit. It scans for a few seconds then tells me my device is not supported? What do i need to do?

to connect to kies you must be using the stock launcher so
1. install homeswitcher
2. use it every time you want to connect to kies

Did that, several times. No go. Still tells me device is unsupported? I also just installed kies on my laptop to see if maybe it was windows 7, but still wont work. Are there possibly some drivers im missing for it that need to be installed on computer?

hmmm... try reinstalling drivers through kies (its in the dropdown menu), restarting and repeating as in my original post

With or without tab connected? Guessing without since it doesnt recognize my tab.

Same issue here to, after update of kies to 1.5.3.10103.100 lost connection to tab all together...
edit.. its working again..had to set it to mass storage then change again to kies??

Well, after flashing the euro firmware last night, kies recognizes my tab now.

My bad, not asking anyone. Just updating my thread. I know there were a bunch of people having issues with kies. Just posting that kies sees my tab now that ive flashed a different firmware.

I guess that the current version of Kies does not support the north american firmware version yet...
Oh well... hopefully they'll release an update soon.

Kies didn't recognize you T-mobile Tab and you then flashed with a Euro firmware and now it works + that Kies now thinks you have a GTP-1000 instead of a SGH-TXXX.
Do you know if Kies will work to do future updates?
Reason for asking is that I have a T-mobile model and I want to make it a GTP-1000.

Yes, that is exactly right. Before i flashed the euro rom, i would constantly get the device not recognized or whatever. As soon as i flashed i decided to check again, and it found it immediately. Im unsure about future updates though.

i took the liberty of replacing the images in the script in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669093 with the ones in the JB factory image . the script works with JB . i will upload a link for stock JB . if that is an inconvenience for one of the two mentioned bellow... please tell me and i'll remove it . enjoy .
the method is simple :
1. enable usb debugging
2. run the script and follow instructions
3.now you run jb stock factory image .

Error 404 on the google doc link

I posted a question a few days ago asking how to unroot and revert back to stock. I have a physical phone problem with my device and need warranty repairs.
If I follow your post instr then I will end up with the JB OTA stock image, unrooted with a locked bootloader? If so it's the answer I've been looking for!

Does this work on all versions of nexus s?

No it does not work on all versions of ns... as it has the factory image for soju ( i9023 and i9020 international versions. Does the link work ? Where else could i upload a folder ?

It would get your phone to stock 4.1,1 official google image not rooted... as for the bootloader it locks it. But if not you could just use the "fastboot oem lock" comand

A script can accomplish anything that a user can accomplish on their own by doing the same commands. If there is a hardware or software error on the device that is preventing it from working the manual way then the script won't work either.

but im too lazy to upload for all variants because the upload takes like an hour and here in romania it is 7 am

Hi ... yes I understand what you're saying. My phone's problem is possibly the micro USB port, seems to be working poorly. Phone charges but my PC and laptop suddenly don't recognise the device when connected by cable. Bear in mind I did drop my phone in muddy grass (ports got mud-filled) three days earlier, causing latent damage only now seen.
SO b4 I take it for warranty repair need to unroot etc but all methods required a working USB cable ... this method seems to be the answer I need. You agree?

You still need usb for this... you have to have usb debugging on....copy the folder to your computer and click run. It will do the rest with a few keys

So...I have not fully understood the OP's method. I foolishly assumed this procedure didn't require USB connection to my PC (which does not work anymore because PC no longer recognises my device via cable after some likely water damage).
Any idea how I can revert back to stock JB or ICS with a locked bootloader unrooted etc WITHOUT connecting to my PC via cable?? I really need to get this fixed under warranty.

Not directed at you or anybody but if you're not capable of installing drivers and unlocking with fastboot etc you have no business to actually have root access/unlocked bootloader etc.

I hate to post this, but cannot research an answer: I have rooted my last 2 Galaxy devices, but am FRUSTRATED my new s4 running UCUAMDL out of the box. I am unable to access developer options or usb debugging. I have gone to "about phone," tapped on the build (more than 7 times), and get nothing. Surely there is a way to do this? Am wanting to use an Odin one click for root, and need usb debugging. Thanks for any help.

I guess I will have to figure out a way to return the phone and try another one, because no matter how many times I tap, or how rapidly/slowly I tap, I cannot access dev options on this device. Very, very unhappy. I searched for a ucuamdl device, found one, and now this relatively simple, stupid roadblock. Thanks for your help.
EDIT: Is it this simple - do I need to have the sim in the device to access dev options? I am afraid that the device will auto-update.

Just go to settings, about phone, tap build number 10 times, you should get a small message that Dev options are enabled. Go back to settings and scroll down. It appears next to about phome .

That's how it should work, all right. Does not work on my phone. Yet. I am taking a break & using my s2 while out for a bit. When I try it again, Iwill wipe/factory reset. & will go ahead & insert a sim, log in to Google, tell the phone who I am, etc. I had not done these things, to avoid the mf3 update possibly auto-starting. Maybe this will make a difference. I will post the results. Thanks for your response.

You don't need the SIM in the phone. I rooted and put a custom ROM on my device the day before I even activated.

Sounds like you are doing it right. Just go to SETTINGS, MORE, ABOUT DEVICE, click on BUILD NUMBER, (I always started off fast clicking until I would see a little popup that says something like your are 7 away from being a developer), then click it until it says developer mode or you are now a developer or something like this. Now EXIT back out of the setting tabs until your at the MORE tab again and NIW there should be a DEVELOPER OPTIONS, click on it to open and choose USB DEBUGGING.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Is this the dumbest thing you have seen w/an android device? It is simple - tap the build in "about phone" - there's even a video on xda on how to tap on the phone . . . No matter how fast/slow or many/few times I do this, I get nothing. Zip. I wish we had one of the old Odin root methods, where I could just boot into download mode and plug it into Odin. I guess I have no choice but to take it to an ATT Device Support Center and tell them that I need USB debugging to be able to transfer files other than media, and see if they can get it working. The phone is still stock, for sure, so that should not be a problem. The USB toggle apps on the market require root or installation as a system app, which I can't do on stock.
EDIT: I downloaded & Odin'd a fresh install of UCUAMDL. All is well now. Dev options enabled; ready to root and flash.

I wish I could.
The phone does not turn on.
Its like .. dead!
BUT as I said the computer does recognize it. When I plug the phone into the PC , the PC makes sound.
BUT Odin does NOT recognize it because the phone does not turn on thus, I can't boot into download mode. .

try that....take the battery out and press the power button for one minute and then let the phone without battery for 10 minutes and then try to boot and if its not working repeat and try to go to recovert or downloas mode

I've sent it to a local repair shop nearby. . Not samsung..
He took the phone for a week and a half. He could not fix it.
He told me he even tried J tag..
His conclusion was that the motherboard is broken.
But I don't believe him because I think if the motherboard is truly broken the PC would not recognize the phone..
What do you guys think?

I bought a jig from China, it worked on my other phones but did not work on this one. I believe a jig is only used for soft bricks and I believe mine is hard bricked. I'm not sure though. That's why I'm asking for the help of the developers.

If it's that broken I suggest to take it to Samsung. They won't see any modifications anymore and won't take the time to dig deeper. Just tell em it did shutdown somewhere in standby overdays and never woke up anymore.

I understand you're having trouble getting your N9005 to download mode. I was having the same problem.

See the threads I've mentioned on it. Maybe you can get ODIN to recognize your phone. But probably that won't be enough, at least it wasn't for me. You can give it a try though...

I tried some files before but did not work

PIT file is a saving grace if it works. I've tried 6 different ones so far and none of them worked. Any other suggestion?

Need a little help...

I accidentally messed around with my build.prop and mistyped something causing my phone to brick. So the problem atm is I can't even use my phone with messages popping up such as "Unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped working" and "Unfortunately the process Home has stopped working." I tried to factory resetting which didn't work at all. Right now I am trying to fix it through flash but I can't since when I plug my USB into my computer, I can't changed my USB settings to MTP and since the messages shown above keeps popping up preventing me from clicking anything on my screen. Any help would be appreciated!

It is a modernised recovery menu,with easier,touch controls.
Basically a MUST when flashing roms.
I guess you dont have that...
Now the only thing you can do is flash the stock rom again with the kdz or tot method.
DO NOT TRY RESTORING IT WITH LG PC SUITE!
It will brick your device,because it had been rooted(LG made that on purpose-"kill dem rooted phones")

I stated above in the post that I had already tried flashing but it says my phone was not plugged into the pc. I can't change to option of the USB to MTP which then my computer can't recognize.

With the LG PC Suite,LG Flash Tool or the TOT method?
They react differently.
And if your phone won't ,you either have no drivers,or have bad ones.
Try on another PC also,but be sure to have drivers installed.
Connect the device inDOWNLOAD MODE

I used the LG Flash Tool. I downloaded the driver I believe called the LG United something, don't exactly remember the name.
I tried on 2 PCs already with the same result unable to recognize my phone even though I hear the sound when I plug it in.
And how do I connect it through download mode? Jk I found out how. I'll see what happens next.

is also broken.
Does anything happen when you turn your g2 completely off and connect it to the PC?

Well I got the Download mode to work, but I'm not exactly sure if it's working since its stuck on 0%.
And no nothing happens.

If you aren't flashing anything,it will show 0%. xD

This is the guide for both KDZ and TOT methods.
I also had a simmilar issue,but my flashes with KDZ would always stop at 2%.
So I went with the TOT method and it worked.

I'll try the TOT one out. But quick question I have a sprint LG G2 and there are like 3 different zip files and idk which one my exact model is...
And thanks a lot for helping me through this, this is the first time this happened to me and i'm just in a mess right now...

The box your phone came in has the model number(if you cant recognise the model number,take pictures of all sides of the box,and I will tell you(do hide/cover the IMEI number))

I currently don't have a device for taking a photo but I found the box and I believe this is the model #: LGLS980WTK
But comparing it to the 4 downloads, I can't seem to find it... any help?
The 4 Downloads are: LS980ZV8_13.zip, LS980ZVA_01.zip, LS980ZVC_12.zip, LS980ZVE_03.zip

Ok I have a problem atm of getting an error when flashing:
Error:CrossDL [SM-G920F] to [LS980]
That was the model I was trying to change to during build.prop, and I'm assuming the flash is assuming my model is the samsung one.

Do you have teamveiwer I might be able to help you out. Otherwise you can get your phone fixed on eBay like I did when I super bricked my phone.

I found out which model I had but I have a new problem now in a newer reply I posted.

I suggest you ask in that thread.
I probably could help you if you had an international d802 variant.
Other variants(especially operator-modified ones) are not familiar to me.
