I'm not sure if this is a common problem or not. There seem to be a lot of SD card issues, but the descriptions don't seem to apply to me.
I'm installing WP7 on the HD2, and everything works except that when I look in the available memory, it says there is 170MB (thereabouts) of storage space available when there is an SD card inserted. This card was present on the initial boot, and is the one that originally came with the HD2 - a SanDisk 2GB.
I don't have the restarting issues that others have seen, so I'm not sure if this is a symptom of the mysterious unsupported SD card issue?
hi,
Did you read this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912904
Partially, but I find most people there are having problems with constantly rebooting, or similar problems. I don't have these problems, just that the SD card isn't being used. I also have a wifi problem (always Searching) which I've read is SD card-related but I don't know if that because the SD card isn't being found and utilised, or that the card itself isn't supported.
Never mind. I tried another card (8GB SDHC, as opposed to the 2GB SD) and that picked it up straight away so it looks like it was just a case of the SD card being unsupported.
Hope this proves useful to others also.
What steps did u take when "trying another sd card" I have the 16 gig which i did NOT 1rst time boot with but did have interesting glitches i.e. wifi and reboots..
I tried Hard resetting with it in but to no avail. Hopefully there is still hope for my existing card as I am going to attempt a full 1rst install with it in but maybe you could post the steps you took when getting the new card to work
I powered off, inserted the new SD card, booted into MAGLDR and reinstalled Windows Phone 7. I believe the SD card has to be present on the first boot, so I reset may work, but I reinstalled just to be sure!
After installation and the first boot, the new SD card was recognised and used (as confirmed by checking 'About' in 'Settings'). Hope that helps.
I woke up this morning to find my default ring tone had changed. Upon investigating, I found a message saying my SD card was unmounted. Under settings, all items related to the SD card were greyed out.
I rebooted but that did not fix the issue. So I removed the card and put it in my computers card reader. It offered to scan and repair so I selected that, however, it just sat there doing nothing, so I cancelled.
I put it back in my EVO and booted, but still the card remained unmounted. I returned it to my computer, rinse, repeat, only this time, after like five or ten minutes, the files showed up. The first thing I did after that was try to copy everything to a folder on my HDD. Some items copied, but then the copy process froze.
I have been backing up with titainium and another app for texts, but these BU to my SD card! So unless I get this card going again, my back-ups are gone.
So question #1: Is this a known issue?
#2: Is there any process I can try to get my files back?
#3: Do I need to throw my 16 GB card away?
i had the same issue
you're gonna have to do a complete reformat from the android settings
fixed it for me...gonna have to start from scratch
unknown cause...
Hello
About 12hrs ago, everything on my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone was working perfectly fine.
I was using my camera to record a video when the playblack crashed and the phone suddenly did a restart. When the phone booted back up again, the phone could no longer read the SD Card. I did several restarts and took out the SD Card and put it back in again and still the phone refuses to see the SD Card.
I know the problem ISN'T the SD Card because when I put the SD card into an adapter and plug it into my computer, the computer can read and see everything on the card.
Any one else have this problem and know how to solve it?
My phone isn't rooted or hacked
Thanks!

-Go to setting/storage and check what is the status for the external SD. May be it is not mounted.
- second check if you get any other SD card to test the phone behavior with it.

I tried a 16G SD card and it connected perfectly.
is there an App which forces the phone to mount the SD Card?

Save your SD card content to your computer and reformat it direct from the phone. If it is successful revert back the data et voilĂ !
if not Ok it is something wrong with the memory card itself...
I have similar problem. Two days ago suddenly I got message SD card unexpected removed. That puzzled me because I didn't touch SD card at all. Turned phone off and on and seemed to be ok since yesterday. I had SD card removed message again and phone doesn't see any card anymore. I tried bunch of SD cards and no luck. Reset my phone, reinstalled firmware and still nothing. Opened even my phone check sim and SD card board connector.
All my SD card tested, formatted on PC. Any ideas?

Still on first day of ownership with device here. Android currently reports a corrupt SD, and I recall reading that there's two options for storage under Android 7. The traditional, of keeping the SD card as a separate file system, and I think the updated handling has to do with encryption.
Will revisit post if I encounter similar issue, regarding low battery.

It's natural for the first time, but in my case it shows corrupt SD even after I ve already formatted it with my phone (Only if phone switches off due to low battery).
Well It gave me corrupt card error on the 3rd day of use, all I did was just restarted my phone and when it turned on It show Sd card corrupted. Although my PC was able to read it. Then i took a backuo, formatted card with phone and restored data. Hope I don't see the error again.
My card got corrupt yet again after a normal switch off and on process.
It's a 64Gb card. Don't know what to do.

Here the problem comes..., it's a software issue I guess, BTW there is a workaround. Connect ur SD card to a computer and scan it for errors(apply fix if needed), after that test u can use it as before. I hope it helps :good:

Tried everything but not this, yes I also believe it's a software iasue coz data stays intact after it says corrupt. My 1st workaround is not switching off the phone.
Thanks
Same issue here. I bought my Moto G 5 Plus 3 or 4 days ago. Have a Sandisk 32GB (Class 10) MicroSD formatted as Internal Memory. I restarted the phone several times and everything was fine. Till one moment I wanted to take a picture, but the motorola photo app was crashing every time I wanted to take a picture. I restarted the phone and the MicroSD card was corrupt. The MicroSD was basically new, never used, only inserted once in an other phone, but not even used once to store anything. I really hope this is a software problem and not a hardware problem, and that they will fix it..

Was this ever fixed?? Im buying the phone and getting on Friday
Well, no OTA updates so far, so I guess no fix. I'm using my SD card as external storage (Not formatted as internal) and I had no issues so far. The only downside is that you can barely move any apps to the SD formatted like this. But with the internal storage space of the Moto G it should be enough for now. I hope tough they fix it in the future. I'm wondering tough if it's not an Android issue. I wasn't lucky so far with internally formatted SD cards, on my previous phone if the phone crashed for whatever reason, anything that has changed on the SD since the last reboot would disappear. So I wonder if it's an global android issue.
I'm getting corruption errors with two brand new 32GB and 16GB Toshiba Exceria M302/EA microSD cards (http://www.toshiba-memory.com/cms/en/products/microsd-cards/exceria/exceria-pro-m302-ea.html).
Now I'm testing an old 16GB SanDisk Ultra and it seems to be working but I fear it won't last.
I have a G5 XT1676 with stock NPP25.137-15 and no updates available.
No corruption issues here. I bought a Sansdisk 128GB Ultra card. Ive been using the phone for a couple of months now. I have 80GB worth of music on it and I have photos saved to the card. I think the quality of your SD card will have a lot to do on seeing this issue. Good luck
Similar issue with 32 GiB Lexar SDHC, brazilian G(5)+
Greetings,
The same thing just happened to me: after a manual shutdown {1}: SD reported as corrupted, but reads fine on a Mac. The SDHC card is a 32 GiB Lexar and my G(5)+ is a stock factory unlocked brasilian version.
This did not happen in the prior manual reboots, since I got it in March.
{1} Launcher3 was throwing "not responding" warnings and Google Cards was very laggy, so I manually rebooted the phone after clearing Launcher3 cache and storage.
Cordially,
GemSev.

Update:
So far, all attempts at formatting in-phone stall, in both internal and external modes, at 20% and 30%, respectively.
Waiting for another SD card to arrive for further tests.

My Lexar card just died after a reboot it was working fine in my m8 before I got the moto g. When I plug in the card to my pc I can see all the files but they are write locked so the card is effectively dead.
Subscribed. I am also seeing the SD Card Corrupt on bootup. Wonder if it's bootup or restart/shutdown that messes it up? Tryinig to eject media, turning phone off and booting to see if it's happening on boot time or on restart/shutdown.
EDIT: Didn't have to go that far.... I press EJECT, then took out, inserted back in, CORRUPTED. Must be the EJECT or SD Prepare sequence? Or maybe an encryption issue (when re-inserted it has new keys/whatever encryption it uses?)
EDIT 2: I rebooted phone (power button until it rebooted) and SD Card shows CORRUPTED. It's either not updating the FAT table or must be the SD Prepare sequence corrupting it. I inserted the corrupted SD card on Windows and it showed "You need to format the disk in drive before you can use it." and no matter what format I use it gives me the message format not recognized on the phone.
I ejected the card via OS and checked on PC, CORRUPTED.
I HARD ejected the card and checked on PC, CORRUPTED.
I rebooted phone (power button until it rebooted) and ejected the card before boot and SD CARD is
CONFUSED!!!
It's like the card is good until it powers off, then it's no good.
CONFUSED!!!
Regret not getting the 64GB version now...if that's all I am going to have.. Moto needs to address this issue...
Fixed my SD card
This same thing happened to me.
I repaired my SD card by taking my SD card out of my phone and connecting it to my computer using a micro SD adapter.
When you click on the card's drive letter in Windows Explorer it will probably say 'This drive is corrupt and inaccessible'.
So I opened up the run box by pressing 'Windows Key + R', typed in 'cmd' then 'enter' to open the command prompt.
Then I typed the command 'chkdsk (drive letter of your card) /f'
for example: 'chkdsk D: /f'
Press enter and then chkdsk will run and should repair your card.
You should now make a backup of the files on your card just in case this happens again.
sd card is not even showing so how to format it
guys i have a samsung 16gb sd card it was lost and i found it after 2 days and now it is not even showing in any phone any pc.... i think its pin has tempered but if there is a way to fix it then tell me
The same happens to me, Moto G5 (NOT Plus). All cutom and stock ROMs have had this SD card being corrupted after a boot, came here for help but as I see, there's still no solution to this problem. Gosh, I'm starting to hate this device, buttons are not clicky anymore!
Last time i tried to make my SD card work, after watching a coupple of videos from my SD card, it couldn't read it anymore, I had to format it again, practicaly I can't use my device with SD cards. (Sandisk 16GiB Class 10)
I saw a post that describes my issue perfectly but it was in the wrong forum and it seems like OP never moved it to the right section. LINK to that post ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...zon-note-3-t3531532/post70382794#post70382794 )
So whenever I boot up my phone with a blank sd card it says blank sd card or unsupported file types AND the wifi stops working. If I try formatting the sd card it just shows the message again (sometimes it shows sd card is safe to remove but not often). The wifi does not work if I click the wifi button it turns light green for a few seconds and then turns gray. Wifi can't be turned on in settings either. If I turn off my phone, take out the SD card, and reboot then the wifi works perfectly fine.
Things I have tried: Flashing different STOCK firmware currently running N900VVZWEOF1 (5.0) but have tried N900VVZWEPL1 (5.0) and N900VVRUDNK1 (4.4.4)
kitkat on up or higher than kitkat (i don't remember which) the phone doesn't recognize sdcards (since newer phones weren't made with them) maybe its all interconnected.
sdfix will allow use of sdcard
You may have a bad SD card or slot, it should only tell you card is safe to eject when it unmounts the card.
If you have a PC available with an SD adapter that matches your microSDHC card to whatever SD slot your PC can see, try to do a FULL format of the card as a FAT32 filesystem.
Then try putting it in your Note 3
