I have this same problem and can't for the life of me get it to boot, it just spins for hours. How did you solve the issue?
EDIT: Sorted, factory reset before flashing ROM.

Everything was working great. I think kept reading and saw that I needed to install kernel.
Downloaded, transferred d800-stock-kernel-aosp
Rebotted to install this zip.
NOW, I am stuck in the android 4.4 boot loop. I have tried to power down and hold down volume up and down, but with no success.
Is my phone bricked? What happened? Could someone please help me??? Thank you so much in advance!:crying:

you have to time it correctly. Turn on the phone holding power and volume down. Then when the logo shows. Quickly (not too quickly) release two buttons and press them again and hold them until recovery factory reset screen appears then press two times power button to get into recovery.

Your bootloope, can you get into download mode? Try vol up and power. Then vol down to recovery....
Got a reply from the other thread:
Use this method (scroll down to where it says Master Reset with Hardware Keys). I ran into this issue a few times, and this is how I can get back into TWRP (when you follow the instructions, instead of wiping everything it boots into TWRP)
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-7590 [start from "when LG Logo is displayed", since you can't power off]
(NB: It says T-mobile, but it works for all variants)
THIS WORKED!!!!!!!
Thanks again guys!
Hello, I have seem to soft-bricked my device. I was installing a ROM using TWRP (I forgot the version) and it was taking a very long time, then I stupidly shut-off my phone, and when I turned it on, it was stuck on the LG logo. I cannot boot into recovery using Power + Volume Up button, and I have no idea how to fix this!
Thank you.
EDIT: Got into recovery. The whole /system was wiped, I re-flashed CM10.2, now stuck in boot loop of the Cyanogen Mod boot logo,

It would appear that I did something very similar and is stuck at the logo boot loop. How were you able to get back into recovery?

Do you have the LG bootlogo coming up, if so try this:
Turn off phone, then when off, hold down power and volume down button until it reaches the LG logo and then release and hold it down again, if that doesn't work, when just hold it down until you see a screen that says something like: Hard reset/ factory reset. For me it took me to my recovery screen, where I just flashed a older ROM onto it. I then later flashed a recovery file. I hope this helps, and if you need it any clearer, just reply

Thanks for the reply! I was able to get into the factory reset but had to follow slightly different instructions. The way I've seen it on most wiki sites is that you hold Volume Down and Power button at the same time until the LG logo shows up, then release them and press them down again. This never worked for me.
What I had to do was hold Volume Down and Power button until the LG logo shows up, then release ONLY the Power button while still holding the Volume Down button, then press the Power button again. This method got me into the factory reset consistently and was able to get back into recovery.
Best,
Colin

LG G2 VS980 not booting, system folder permission is changed accidentally
My LG G2 VS980 phone was rooted by myself. It was a factory unlocked phone. Then using Root Browser by JRummy apps i have removed some system apps and just for a try i have changed the permission settings of system app folder to ro. Then on reboot my phone was stuck, it turns ON and after LG and Verizon logo, says "unfortunately, phone has stopped" and i could see some basic apps such as file manager, calculator etc. but i cannot use the phone at all. It is stuck. How to get back to the original factory unlocked condition? Any ideas plz!
I am rooted and had PhilZ recovery installed on the vs980. I wiped data, cache, and davlik to install a new rom, but the install failed. After the install failed I realized I had deleted my backups I had. When I went to reboot the phone said it could not find root and would attempt to root on its own or something of that matter. I am now stuck on the lg spash screen with the led blinking green/blue. I cannot boot into recovery or download mode by holding the volume+power buttons the phone just vibrates and turns off for a sec then right back to the lg screen. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance
Yeah try booting into recovery but a little differently this time.. Turn the phone off, hold power and volume down to turn it on but keep holding it until it shuts off again. Then press power and volume down again until the LG logo appears. Release and press them again quickly like normal. This has worked for me in the past when I couldn't boot into recovery. Idk why but it did.. Give it a try

Hello fellow G2 owners! First post here and sad enough its a question/problem, just moved from an LG Optimus G so Im sad I had to leave the other forum ): Anyhoo, my G2 since before I rooted it and installed a custom recovery would never jump into its own stock recovery. I turned the power off, held both the power button and the volume down button, waited for the LG logo, unheld the buttons then reheld them to only see the logo go away and come back. Now that I am rooted with TWRP, the only way to boot in is through a an app while in the phone. Can anyone let me know how to fix this?

Its tricky, when the LG logo pops up let go and hold down down+power again. You'll get a "factory reset?" screen. Push the power button 3 times (to confirm data wipe) and it'll boot into TWRP.
Yeah I figured out I had to let go and rehold once the LG logo went away and rehold on the black screen. Somehow I dont have to press power 3 times it just loads into recovery!
I tried to update my LG G2 D802 from CM12.1 to 13 using the following steps:
1. reboot into twrp (2.8.7.3)
2. full wipe (all but internal storage)
3. installed bootstack-d802-CAF-signed.zip
4. installed CM13
5. reboot system
so far it worked fine, so I went back into recovery mode, installed the open_gapps-arm-6.0-stock-20151203.zip. After reboot, the phone keep throwing error messages "google service is closed" and keep repeating. I thought it may be an error in the gapps so I went into recovery again and tried to install another gapp version. I did a full-wipe again, but then I accidently did a system reboot. Now the phone is stuck after showing the LG logo and won't start properly. I try to go back into recovery mode:
1. turn off the phone
2. press power + volume down until the logo shows
3. release and repress the both button, which should bring me into recovery mode, but it didnt work. tried it numerous times, but always the same, if I release and press the both button after LG logo, the phone would just restart after few seconds...
can someone help me? Since the phone doesn't start, I can't install anything. Is there another way to get into recovery mode? Or can someone explain to me what I broke?
Don't press and release the volume down and power button at the lg logo. Just hold it until it goes into recovery.
If you can't get in, try to TOT back to stock. I would recommend you stick with rooted stock before you hard brick it(if you haven't done so already). Not only is cm buggy ass hell on the g2 but MM will be even more so since it's so new. Good luck.

what is "TOT"? How do I do that when I can't start the phone and can't get into recovery mode?

+1 to this method, i have been using this when I was not able to get into recovery easily. My issue is unrealted to yours though.
I had a similar issue trying to enter Recovery on my phone. I've tried a lot both methods, so I turned off the device, waited something like 5 minutes, then tried the vol up + vol down method and it worked. I don't know why, but that's not the first time I have to wait a bit longer to try the key combination in order to enter Recovery. Just in case you can't turn off you phone completly, hold power button till phone turns off, keep holding it, wait for the LG logo to show up, when the screen goes off, release the button. Good luck

It's not working for me. I got excited for a minute since others had luck with it, but it was a no-go for me. I know this is an older thread but....
It seems like being rooted, having TWRP and CM13 and Flashify, between all those, something should freakin' work, besides goofy hardware button combos. :crying:
