[Q] New Zealand Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 4.2.2

Hi there!
I just bought my new phone recently. Went from iphone 4 to S4. Big improvement. I really love my new S4. One minor annoyance, though.
it is the bloatwares that are on my S4.
I want to root it and ONLY want to remove the bloatwares. I don't want to do anything else. I just want to be able to remove the bloatware as i don't find them useful and i could use extra space and make my phone snappy.
I am still learning my way around the website. I am sorry if this has been asked before.
Mind you, my baseband is i9505XXUBMG4 and android version is 4.2.2. I bought it unlocked.
I am bought it here in New Zealand. Most of the guides refer to phones being used in USA.
I would love a proper simple layman explanation. I would love to do a simple root just to REMOVE the bloatwares.
I am on a MAC btw. So i'd appreciate any root explanation using a MAC.
Hope this made sense. I appreciate any help! Thanks for bearing with me. cheers!
I too have a NZ S4, keep reading my friend. Probably the easiest way to debloat is to cf-root (search for it) and either uninstall apps with titanium backup (from the app store) or use the debloat aroma in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827817 if you need anymore help pm me

[Q] One question about galaxy s4 GT 9506

Hi everybody! I want to change my phone but my operator propose just the galaxy GT 9506. I read on the galaxy s4 thread that it's difficulte to root this and they are no many rom for this version. My question: can i root the galaxy s4 gt 9506 and put a firmwear from galaxy s4 gt 9505. Thank's for read my thread and to give me an answer.:silly:
Yes you can root.
No, you can't put 9505 ROM into it.
But I suspect, some mod from 9505 or 9500 may work on 9506 (same Android version should have greater chance, as we occasionally using note3 mod on our s4, it probably works as long as don't go too deep into system, like kernel things, what I am talking about is more like theme or something ) and the xposed module may work as well.
If you don't wanna AOSP ROM.
Xposed module should fit you.
I've had 9506 and return back to exchange 9505 and now I found I could get what I want on stock firmware with xposed so I'm little bit of regret actually

Most xposed mods work with S4 I9506.

Thank you for the accuracy of your answer. I hesitated between LG g2 and galaxy S4. My preference goes to the S4 because I already had a S2, S3 therefore the logical consequence was the S4. But the proposed operator by my 9506 model slows a little. Your answer made me decide to order S4 and hopefully not regret my choice. thank you

But beside the lack of AOSP ROM (someone is working on porting CM11) and 3rd part kernel, i9506 really outrun the i9505, specially the GPU part...
But anyway, it's kinda over-performance... as we usually don't need that kinda performance, even for Snapdragon 600.
I think, most ROM part of customization can be achieved by Xposed modules, good luck!
I did not need a lot of customization but I just wish rooter my phone and put a samsung official firmwear to delete all apps from my operator. The choice of S4 is really out of loyalty and passion for samsung. I do not really need the full power of the snapdragon 800, 4G as starts in France and yet I did not receive. So your information is extremely useful to me because I know I just choose the S4 9506, the rooter and remove apps operators. thank you

suggestion - reverse bloatware on an S4 google edition?

hi everybody -
i am new to the forum and i would like to know if it is possible to actually put bloatware on a google edition phone. i know this sounds weird but here's the story. i thought i was being a cool boyfriend by buying a google edition s4 for my wife instead of the regular at&t samsung s4 from their site because there would be no bloatware on the google edition. After my wife (who has been used to using the bloatware off s3 and loving some of those things) played with the google edition and absolutely hated that it didn't have any of the samsung features from an actual samsung phone bought from at&t. What i'm wondering is, is there a way to actually put all that bloatware onto a google edition s4 somehow? so that way, the phone will perform and have all the apps and features of an original samsung s4? does it need to be rooted, etc.? any tips and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Joe
The short answer is no, it's not possible. But you could always sell it on ebay and buy a GT-i9500 or GT-i9505 instead to stay off contract, or buy the AT&T phone.
Theoretically, it's possible. Not by direct flashing I9505 firmware. But some cleaned one should be fine because I9505G has less space in system partition.
I'm not sure if partition layouts between I9505G and I9505 are the same (except sizes). If yes, then you can flash CWM/TWRP and then install any custom I9505 TW ROM. If partition layouts are different, then some work will be required.
You need to monitor threads about flashing GE ROMs to normal I9505 device and see what's the difference.
Or find playstore alternatives for the bloat she liked and install those.

[Q] Galaxy S4 bloatware issue

Hi All
Kinda new here, did ask a few questions when i had an xperia miro. So i am not sure if i am asking the question in the right place. Moderator please feel free to relocate this question elsehwere, if i am posting in the wrong section of the forum
Ok so got a new (old stock) Galaxy s4 i9500, which updated itself to the latest lollipop firmware. But i see a ton of bloatware on it, which i believe is eating the ram or causing terrible Ram mismanagement.
I kinda like the touchwiz ui with lolipop.....so i dont want to loose the stock feel.......but is there anyway to remove all the bloatware...unwanted apps from the GS4 ...is there a list.....I saw a thread for the i9505 to remove bloatware but none for the i9500.
so the question - is there a way, without rooting or unlocking..to remove all bloatware / unwanted apps from the os to have a seamless experience?
Love the phone / hardware...just wish it performs as per the hardware specs......
cheers
The bloatware list for both devices is the same. However, I don't believe you can use automated tools in your case to trim the fat from the ROM. Unless mistaken, and I well could be, the I9500 partition structure is different from the I9505, thanks to the Exynos processor.
i9500 Galaxy S4 Bloatware issues
hmmm...i saw a video on youtube for an automated tool to remove even the uninstallable apps.....but i forget which version of the galaxy s4 it was...
Ok so worst case scenario...manual method.....but this means.....unlock and root right?
Cheers
All you have to do is root as the bootloader on the I9500 isn't locked. Then install a file manager with root support, hunt for the files and blow them away. Do check out the automated tools however. If one works, it will save you a ton of headache.

Galaxy note 3, sd card probs

Hi all, I've recently bought a used note 3 as my s3 has finally given up, but I download a lot of torrent files and need to be able to download straight to the sd card however as I'm sure you probably know is that's no longer possible, now I've heard that rooting and adding a custom rom can sort this out for me so is there a rom anyone can recommend to me that will let me download straight to the sd card, I've not much experience with rooting as I've only ever rooted one phone which was a Galaxy s3 and that was a few years ago, I would like a rom that looks newish if that's possible, any help/advise would greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.
