I have same problem with watch on apps
Hello...
What actually happen on my samsung mega i9205 is the "watch on " apps running but not have button to shut down the apps.. andthen when I check my battery uses history on >>>setting >> more >> battery >> and here is battery history area....
The 1st thing using higher power on my battery.. "THE SCREEN" - brighten or auto funtion or darker... for screen using power is 56%
But the real problem is the 2nd apps using higher power is WATCH ON .. the watch on running, even you un-tiked or un-checked the box on you said before and the apps still running and still using alot of battery power... 35 % ... but I never using it to any tv or any decoder... and I never set it to auto display on any where or auto update it.. just I want to learn .. how to really shut down the watch on apps... then my battery have alot of power not use... and I think... it can make the battery function more lasting...

Auto Rotation- Blurry Screen

Few questions which I couldn't find using the search option
1-When I turn the phone to landscape and vice versa, the screen blurs just before auto rotating, is this a feature?
2-How can I see the battery percentage e.g 90% on top bar rather then that tiny battery icon?
Thanks a bunch!

I know it's an animation, but the texts and the whole screen blurs out for a second before auto rotating. Can you check it on your phone?
Yes, my second option was downloading battery app, but seems like Android settings only show tiny battery icon.
Thanks for the reply, appreciate it

Yes, it's supposed to blur out before rotating. And the HTC Desire isn't like that.
Download BatteryTime Lite and configure the widget to notification bar. Then you'll have it.
Thanks for speedy replies. You guys rock! is their any option or code to check call life timer? every phone has it
not that I know of buddy
Call life timer? Is that another power option? If so then battery time lite will tell you that amongst other bits of other information.
Listed as:
Idle Time
Talk Time
Video Playback
Audio Playback

How is that done? The only option I can see in the settings is to pick your phone model....I'm new to android so I might be overlooking something obvious
Download it from the market mate, then long-press on a blank area of the homescreen > widgets > Batterytime Lite
Connect to the internet using WiFi or 3G. There's a gray bar with a small white triangle pointing upwards at the bottom of your screen, drag it up and you'll see a list of applications (apps for short). Now look for an app called "Market", tap that.
When it opens up, you'll see things to download, initially categorised by Paid Apps (which you have to pay of course) and Free Apps. If you look at the top-right corner of the screen, you should see a magnifying glass, tap that. Here you can search for BatteryTime Lite. You can just search for "Battery" and it'll give you loads more options.
Tap the ones you are interested in, you'll then see a button to install or buy at the bottom. Try the free ones first. To uninstall I usually go back to Market, select the "Downloads" button (same row as "Paid Apps" and "Free Apps" button when you have just loaded up Market), then tap your installed App, and you'll have the Uninstall button.
This is just one of the simpler way to uninstall, there are other ways though.
Hope that helps.
Tons of apps you can try for free, have fun.
Cheers - i'm fine with downloading, uninstalling & putting widgets on the home screen but is there a way of placing battery time lite onto the actual notification bar?
Not sure about BatteryTime Lite, but Battery Status has the option to place a battery indicator icon on the Notification Bar.
I've been thinking about this... and having had my handset for 2 weeks now.. and having had the same problems with the battery not last a full working day (if I leave for work at 6am and don't get back till 6..) I, like probably many of us.. became quite obsessed with it.. and wanted to know how many percent the battery had dropped during each half hour... we don't need to know this... we really don't.. all we really care about is.. will my phone still have juice in it when I get home at the end of the day.. and if you want to monitor the phones usage, install juice plotter.. then review it's data at the end of the day.. try it when your spending the day at home and don't need to worry about it running out.. I did that today..
Let the battery run flat over night and charged it this morning..
full charge at 1130 this morning.
9.5 hours later... 76% remaining... after some moderate use throughout the day..
I will become less obsessed when I don't have an issue any more.!!
ditto the recommendation for Battery Status Pro - it's free and works like a charm

[Q] Questions about stock gtalk app

Hi I had few questions about the stock google talk app (talk) running on my Nexus 4.
First, It seems that there is a bug where It always keeps me online, I have the setting "away when screen off" checked, but I never seem to be away and I am always available (green).
Second, Is there a way to show all online friends ? It seems that I can just see a few, and none of the settings under settings-> display options seems to do the trick
and finally, I have checked the settings -> mobile indicator (show mobile indicator to friends) but it does not show the little green robot as my avatar
Are these all 4.2.1 bugs , or am i missing some obvious settings. I am new to Android, just moved from the iPhone 4 so . .
Thanks guys,

Just realized that the above is only possible via a gmail lab feature. So scratch that, the other two questions still stand though
I have all my friend visible, but it does that by default. Possibly because I set gTalk in gmail to show all.
Mobile indicator is configurable under settings..
And I'm viewed as away when screen off.. Might be something you have installed preventing this.

Lol - the infamous mortification panel
You have to enable it in Settings>notification bar if you want it to remain visible as opposed to hidden under a swipe.

still don't have it. have this option checked but no slider, even reboot didn't help.
it seems like it's disappearing when my battery is low (had 3%)

Yes, when the battery hits 5% the screen dims by itself and the brightness slider disappears.

Power Controls Widget

Does anyone know of a power control widget (for toggling bluetooth, mobile data, gps etc) that actually switches them off and on without loading the settings screen meaning i still have to turn stuff off and on in there rather than on the home screens
Also, widget would be ideal if it has some transparency on

Does the nexus power control widget not do that? I wanted one on my status bar so I use Power Toggles. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Can add a widget to your status bar that turns things on/off without going to its settings page. You can also change colours and customize the tabs.

Nope, if you click Mobile Data or Bluetooth, it just loads that particular page in Settings so that you can switch it off and on but thats annoying, just want to toggle on the homescreen ...
Downloading Power Toggles now, thank you!
Power Toggles is the only one that works as it should for the GPS toggle.
There are many others as well such as Notification Toggles, Settings Extended, Exilir 2, Widgetsoid and so on.

New to android here. I have been trying power toggles and it works pretty well. One toggle that does not work as I'd like is the airplane mode toggle. This sends me to the settings page to manually check the "airplane mode" box. Is there a reason for that or am I doing something wrong?
I have Power Toggles and works great. Only went to menu screen before I rooted; now rooted wifi, airplane, gps, all switch it directly (I don't use bluetooth).
Widgetsoid is the app to go. For free and massive possibilities to make switches.

Yup, it's backwards and doesn't make any sense, BUT it works.

The reason why power toggles opens up the selection page instead of just activating airplane mode is because your phone is not rooted. With the phone being rooted, a widget cannot disable GPS.
So...the solution is to root the phone, (which is easy, but you will lose your data, so back everything up first) and then install power toggles as a system application.
Because power toggles directed me to it, I used this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
It worked like a charm, and it only took me a minute or two, including learning how to use it.
This is just one of the about 10 reasons I've found so far to root the phone, I'm sure you will run across others!
Thanks for the help! It seems like I will need to root to get true toggles without having to go through the settings screen.
Power Toggles ftw

Gravity box - ultimate notification control

I have discovered that while stamina mode is active that the ultimate notification control doesn't operate correctly. The led will flash once or twice, then stop.
Does anyone know what app I should be adding as an exception to stop this from happening?

try Light Manager - LED settings. i've changed colours. it works great even with Stamina.
There are more applications that won't work correctly when in stamina mode, eg the smart connect tool, flitsmeister,... background process are frozen when screen is off.
