My initial testing was just with the stock video player, I'm sure MX Player works great but haven't tried it yet since the update. It does play 1080P flawlessly. I dont use netflix so can't comment on that but, you tube also works perfect. The mk908II is in the top 3 at the moment imo, well worth the money.

XBMC has never been 100% stable on Android, so any issues it might have would attributed to XBMC and not the device.
I don't use XBMC so I can't really say more than that
Even with the newest update I can't watch 1080p movies without a slight choppyness. It doesn't seem much but it's very irritating when having to look at it.

Are you using the correct power source? I had intermittent problems when using 500mA supply. Everything gone with a 2A supply.

It's not the power adapter problem, rockchip rk3188 stock rom all have those problem, but developer on freaktab.com already released frame fix custom rom, you should check that.
how it works

Is there a good video player that everyone is using? I can't play .avi videos on this. I use mplayer on my HD2 but if I install it on here the ratio is soo small. Any advice?
I'm using qqplayer.
moboplayer si ont too bad also
They are on the Market
I forgot about Plex. If you're trying to play external media on some other device, Plex will work quite nicely.
Still trying out video players. Will update you soon.
i use vplayer
I've actually been using Rock player. You can get the optimized version for Tegra 2 here:
http://rockplayer.freecoder.org/index_en.html
anyone got the hardware decoder working on any player?
I'm using Mobo. I tried Rock player, but the software decoding made the video all jumpy. Not having that problem with mobo
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Try using mobo player if you want to play .avi files.

I too find this the most useful one out there. Plays almost everything.
I'm using Vitalplayer. Plays avi mpg and mp4. Thats what I have tried and I'm unsure whats in the containers but it plays it well I think. The avi-file is a 720p file and it looked good with no sync-problems. The mpg is a recording made with Mythtv with highest quality. Flawless playback.
I use Mobo by default but there are times Rock does a better job.

Just tried rockplayer. It made me happy in ways I did not believe were possible.
so after playing with a few of them I think I have settled on mobo player. Its free in the market and seems to work quiet well.
mobo rocks lol...pun intended. both update very often.
yea but is mobo or any other player playing without saving the video first? like you open a email and click preview....

it depends on browser...default browser let u view immediately asking u which video player to stream. opera will save auto. unless you press n hold the link to save it on the default browser.
As the title states, do we have a way to get hardware acceleration on adobe flash. I hate staring at terrible framerates on HD YouTube via their website and stuttering along on other video streaming sites. This is a dual core device, my phone shouldn't be outperforming it.
agreed, I thought 3.1 honeycomb was supposed to include support for hardware accelerated flash. Sadly any flash video 720p or higher runs real slow on 3.1. Including amazon video on demand and YouTube....

So 3.1 is not the holy grail of bug fixes everyone here is making it out to be... well who'd have thought?
Youtube works fine on my device. Tested with Dark Knight trailer on official youtube app.
Youtube performance
Works great on my a500 using honeycomb Youtube app - works just as well via stock browser on the web site.
What browser are you using to try to play video? Does HD video play in the native youtube app but not in your browser?
i think youtube app plays html5 ,not flash video
We are talking about flash 720p in browser not YouTube app....

So, I'm not the only stupid guy who's having that ridicolous streaming video quality!
I was asking in the primee rom thread but everybody had ignored me, same thing in the acertabletforum.com thread, and in the facebook page to support the unlocked bootloader (where I was teased as an idiot).
Youtube has some pixellated video, both in the dedicated app and in the website.
Same issue for all other kind of streamed video.
What we have to wait? Is that a Tegra2 issue? My Galaxy S and my Iphone 4 have not this ridicolous video quality...So, who's the guilty? -.-
Google promised hardware acceleration with the 3.1 update...but it seems something gone wrong.

Iphone doesn't support Flash so either you're talking about HTML5 or you've just figured it out how to watch flash movies on iGear.

Maybe you're forgotting this...I was talking about every kind of streamed video, not only a flashplayer based video.
And, you'll know for sure, some Cydia tweaks and Puffin browser, let see flash video in an iOS device.
i just figured out if you use a rom with an updated kernel to 2.6.36.4....the last 4 being the key flash hardware acceleration works great. At least on 720p.
Hey now this is GOOD NEWS!
Every since I have had this machine I haven't been able to play HD and I mean Hiiiiigh Definition 720 Mp4 files.
What always happens when I played them they fastforwarded by itself but with the MX player you have the option to play via H/S or S/H meaning play with software or playing with hardware software.
So you simple set to (surprisingly S/H) you can now play those HD files that are 720p and also hear the sound and in sync and everything, before I had to use handbrake and wait for 7 hours to decode a movie from 720 HD Mp4 TO 720 HD Mp4 (weird) using xoom setting wit Handbrake.
Now I can watch HD movies on my tab finally without conversion!
Next step MKV files! Can be seen excellent on Mobo player but without sound and with VLplayer you can hear sound and see the image but the video stutters all the time.
Give it up to our developers/modders! That managed to fix one CRUCIAL AND COMMERCIAL function!
Cheers!
07/08/2011 Edit: MX Video Player got an update and can now play MKV with new feature setting S/W Decoder (fast mode) and High Definition 720p mkv's can now be played with little or no lag! Awesome!
Really? Nobody happy?
High profile which level? Moboplayer always work fine for me even better on galaxy based rom
I'll test mxplayer when back to home

you can actually play 720p Hp with dice player. though u are restricted by the file size. andof course u have to pay for it though. it's lag free with sound sync.

Can anyone recommend a good video player that will play videos without jerking, without stopping and with the recorded sound. Doesn't have to be a freebie, main requirement is quality of playback on A500 v3.2.
Thanks
dice player + plugin for tegra2 and every movie works like a charm.

It really depends. There is NO video player that can play non-baseline 1080p video without stutter, so if you're hoping for such you're out of luck. But for almost all else Dice Player or MX Player should work just peachy.
I use rock player.

Dice player pro works excellently at playing HD movies. MX Player is also a great choice and free.
mx player is the business. Does the job very smoothly.
Have used everything out there except dice and the best one I have found was MX Player. Rock player, mobo player, built in one, and a couple other just couldn't cut it.
MX Player was the only one I could find that would play a 720p mkv without stuttering. I actually searched for a paid version of the app it was so good. They did recently add ads into the free version, but I was more than happy to pay for PRO.

I recommend MX Player. The latest version can do hardware video and software audio at the same time, so AC3 channels can have sound now.
I have tried everything and I think Dice is the best.
It has full Tegra 2 H/W support.
I use MoboPlayer, but I honestly haven't thrown any 1080p content at it yet, so I don't know how well it handles that.

Since your screen isn't capable of playing 1080p content natively, that's not an issue.
haven't tried dice but mx is the best free one by far, however I keep mobo on my tablet because you can completely dim the screen while using HDMI, thus saving some battery.

Hello. What is the best combination for playing hd videos wihtout lag? Which app works the best and which rom-kernel?
I have rooted nexus 10 and i have stock kernel-rom. However the hd videos lag a little.(refering to 720p)
I have tried mx player and bsplayer with our cpu addon.
I just use regular bsplayer. Never had an issue and I was just watching HD stuff this weekend. I am on RasSaber ROM, but I never had issue on AOKP PUB, AOKP, or CM10.1 stuff either.
I would bet it is more about how the player is set up, whether using CPU or GPU, and how easily the clock speed for whatever the player is using ramps up.
More or less. Most of these ROMs have the appropriate CPU/GPU drivers already, so your main concern should be making sure that your player is using H/W decoding...and that you've encoded your file properly too.

Where do you download RasSaber? I can only find rasbeanjelly, etc. Is there a thread?
I do not have a link, I am not sure if it is available anymore or not. I am running a build from may 12th, and the latest build I have is from may 28th. You could ask sparksco or Rascarlo if they can give you a link to one of the builds.
Using hardware the video lags more. I tried an mkv file. Can i change any other settings in the programs to make it smoother?
Maybe i will flash another kernel, but i want 1 week to try the stock kernel in order to be able to tell the differences..

Then your player is (probably) badly built. There are really no circumstances under which a S/W decoder should be able to beat a H/W one. I personally don't have issues using MPlayer or stock.
Dice and MX Player. Dice can pla some videos on H/W that MX can't.
I used a few kernels and roms and never had issues with mxplayer. The thing is you have to turn on in options h/w+ (so u have 3 ways to play your video h/w, h/w+ and s/w), then turn it once in top right corner while playing movie. I mostly run mkv 720p files.
Yes i am using hw+ in mx player.. I also use bs pleyer with the neon cpu plugin. I will try another movie and dice player and report.. Thanks.
Edit: i tried dice player and works flawlessly with hw! Also i tried again mx and seems to be working better...

I use MX Player without hw+ enabled on stock, unrooted Android 4.2.2, haven't noticed lag, and I play 1080p trailers all the time. If you really want to stress it, here's a 1440p trailer you can try out (third link, which they incorrectly label as 2560p). That video drops frames like crazy if I don't use hardware decoding, but plays fine with it. Better than my HOX+, which just plays the audio and drops the video altogether.
I wanted to find a video that would actually use the full resolution of my Nexus 10 and that's the only one I found that comes close.
