Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good LTE signal booster that is compatible with Verizon? I've been doing research but I'm coming up with a lot of mixed results, e.g. one person says Product A will work with Verizon but another person says it will only work on their 3G network. In addition, I've discovered that VZW itself does not know whether its own signal boosters are LTE compatible
Thanks all!
Mike
Wilson Sleek 4G-V (the "V" is Verizon model)
I got this baby and it takes my LTE signal from -115dBm to a solid -80dBm (lower number is stronger signal) at work with the booster antenna stuck to the window frame... The cradle doesn't line up with the Note3 LTE antennas too well so I did a little modifying to mine so the Note sits down low enough in the cradle to line up with the booster pad.

Wilson Electronics products are absolutely the way to go. I got the Tri-Band 4G-V booster and the directional antenna for my house. It works absolutely amazing. I had 1x or 1-2 bars of 3G service at best. I now have full bars of 4G throughout my entire house and 3 bars of 4G in my basement and never have a single issue. It was pretty expensive (~$900) for the whole system, but well worth it for me. I have no Cable or DSL internet so 4G is what i rely on.
Thank you both. How difficult was it to install? It looks like both of them require some heavy duty installation.

The Wilson Sleek just clips on or suction cup to the dash... then tuck some wires under carpet and behind rubber seals and magnet mount the antenna to something metal.

It wasn't terrible. You need to make sure you buy the proper cables from Wilson which will need to be run outside to the antenna which you should put up on your roof. I used a 10 foot metal pole that was 1 and a half inches thick to mount the antenna on. It worked perfectly. Then the cable runs from the antenna to the signal booster which lives in my attic. I didn't have power in my attic so i had to splice the one light i had up there and use it as an outlet instead of a light. My wife's father is an electrician so I got lucky. He helped with that part. Then there is another antenna which gives out the signal to the phone which is also in my attic pointing down in the middle of my house.
Antenna on roof --> cable to signal booster (which requires power) in attic --> cable to antenna that provides signal to house in attic pointing down towards the middle of the house

I have had my Cingular 8525 since November and I love it. I live in Baltimore, MD and it has been cold and extremely windy here lately. Well I got out of my car and went to get something out of the passenger side door. When closing the door I had the phone in my hand. Suddenly a huge gust of wind comes and the phone goes flying out of my hand, slides 8 feet down the curb and into the sewer!!!! I can't believe it!! I was shocked. It was almost like somebody had it hooked on a fishing line and reeled it in.
Luckily it hadn't rained in a few days and the gutter was like 5 feet deep. I tried so many ways of getting it out, including using two mop handles like chopsticks, trying to catch it with tape, and trying to get it into a plastic bag. Eventually I taped a small gift bag to the end of one of the mopsticks and knocked it into the giftbag then pulled it up. After an hour and a half of blistering cold work i have my scratched up 8525 back. Only problem is that my micro SD card came out!!!!!
A lot of people have had success avoiding these issues by removing the sail that comes standard on some of the hermes.
Seriously though, the wind blew it out of your hand, 8 feet away?!
Yes. I hate parking near it so I thought I was okay since it was so far away. It was almost like a practical joke.

ROFLMAO!
Funniest thing ever. Very unfortunate for you tho. You should get a strap that hooks into the port opposite of the stylus and strap it to your belt or on your wrist whenever you have it. I always do and its prevented many accidents! They are cheap to.
I find it's best to keep my 8525 securely chained to the side of my head. In my car, I use a big magnet to affix it to the side of the car. Hasn't gone anywhere yet.
lol I know this might sound so stupid but I wont walk over sewers without holding my pockets inconspicuously...never mind me walking over them when Im on my phone.
I also wont talk on the phone next to the window of a car...Im afriad it will slip out or Ill have the inclination to throw it
haha
I'm not sure if this was covered already but if it was, disregard my post.
There is another tab for the WiFi antenna on the back of the Galaxy S' casing. I took a Floss-Toothpick, cut off the end.. smashed it down a little and shimmed it inbetween and now my WiFi signal strength is much MUCH better. This replacement phone has been cutting out constantly in my room and now it's working great.
Wow cool~I personally was not aware that people really had widespread wifi problems though.
between my 2 vibrants we have and the 2 original before they replaced them due to GPS issues which the replacements also have none of them have had wifi problems. I guess we are half lucky. I have seen a number of people complain about Wi-Fi problems, good to know it's a hardware problem. Hopefully I'll get my GPS problems fixed with the next replacement phones and also have working GPS.
Well since i was going to open the phone i did both of them the GPS and the WIFI, Both have been working great ever since..............
Do you have any idea what your wifi speeds were like before? I'm curious what most people get on their wireless n networks.

It was more of an on or off thing. If it dropped down to 1 dot (not the bars) my WiFi would basically cut out on the Vibrant. If I had one bar it would be exactly what I have this router capped at which is 2500Kbps
Can you give more details on this fix?
Thanks!

I saw the fix for the GPS and I am now able to get locks and use navigation. I can even now use my Cardio Trainer program that tracks your running. Where is the wifi at? Mine is not great. I have the phone sitting 3 feet from the wifi router and it is down a bar. My laptop can hit it at full strength 2 rooms away.

this is a picture I took from the GPS thread. It's to the far left of the GPS antenna and looks exactly the same. I probably should have took pics myself but I didn't think of it while I had my phone open.
Jk... Sorry
can you post a pic on what you did like with the toothpick?im not really satisfied with my wifi signal and id be really glad if this method could help.thanks
Just a heads up. I've been connecting to the 4G network in a few places around town. So far I was able to connect in West End but it is very spotty.
Then I got a connection at the comedy club Stardome in Hoover.
I got the best connection while sitting at the Purple Onion in Homewood.
According to Clear's app a lot of Birmingham should be covered. It also said Bessemer to but I can't connect at all there

Should be! But the recent tornadoes probably just took em out.

You would think that but I'm down in Birmingham because of the power outages in Huntsville.
I got the best speeds while riding down I-65 through downtown.

The top one was the only test I took while on 4G.
I was getting 4g a couple of weeks before the tornadoes came through. I had some service in Linn Park downtown but was very spotty, and disappeared as soon as i got inside (even next to a window, the glass would stop all my 4g service). I stayed connected most of the way down 31 on my way home (doing speed tests the whole way) then lost 4g somewhere in Homewood. My speeds never got above 3 megs down, and up was pretty bad. The part that troubled me was that ping was always HORRIBLE - like 300 or more. I hope this is not the final result because its worse than 3g.
I've been getting really good 4G in both Enterprise, AL and Dothan, AL recently. Usually around 2mbps to 4.5mbps surprisingly enough. Just wish the Enterprise tower was strong enough to get a signal to my house on Fort Rucker.
Amazed that Clear has towers up in such a small place as Enterprise. Feel like I might be the only one using this tower a lot.
Well crap. I just left Helena. I was down there all weekend cause Albertville was out of power.
There are no expansion plans for "4G" in Birmingham. Clearwire is so pathetic they cant expand and actually are putting 1-3 sites in each market to avoid the FCC revoking their spectrum licensing. 5 Mbps on 4G is pretty bad anyways considering I get 14Mbps on AT&T and 35-40 on Verizon LTE.
I love outside of B-ham in West Jefferson, about 30 minutes away from Homewood. 10 mins away from Forestdale. I hate not having 4g. I wish they would put up a tower for us in birmingham. I have had my phone for almost a year and it has never connected to a 4g tower. Ever. It pisses me off that I have to pay the 10 dollar charge and cant get it. I for some reason dont get it in Homewood, at Virginia College.
Hello!
I was randomly browsing the Play Store and noticed something odd. According to Google, the travel cover for the Nexus 7 is WiFi only. I've been using mine on my tilapia tablet without any issues at all - I swap the cover between my grouper and this one all the time. Does anyone know what exactly about the this tablet this case is supposed to hinder?
I went back to grab a screenshot for this post and notice that in the bottom left corner of the page my tablet is listed under "Works With" -- so maybe this is all just a whoopsie on the website.

It is usual problem with 3G Nexus 7s. Many covers cover its microphone (it's at the different place than in wi-fi model). And those made of alu and similar materials might maybe block wi-fi signal if wi-fi antenna is also displaced on 3G model.

Mystery solved, thanks!
If you compare the specs you will se that the 3G model is slightly larger than the wifi model which could cause some cases to not fit properly.
I have not had any trouble using N7 cases on N73G. Even when the mic is covered it seems to pick up audio just fine.

I'm sorry sir, but allow my monocle to drop in my tea so I can tell you this is bull****. You've just made me compare my 3g model with wife's Wi-Fi only 32gig model (yes, we have both in the house). They are absolutely identical in size, 3G model has slightly more agressive bevel around the screen, maybe hair-thin taller than wi-fi version (but also note that our 2 devices were bought one month apart, could be the newest wi-fi has identical bevel).
Do you need me to make photos to prove this?
SO I have AT&T And I keep having this network show up on Mutipul phones when doing a Network Scan sadly I can not connect to it it always fails but what is it?

Maritime GSM appears to be a service to provide cell service for people on boats. Is it possible you are close enough to a port or the ocean and are picking up this network from a ship. Although I'd think these networks would be really short range.

Nope.... 5 hours away. And ONLY my AT&T sim will pick it up
Could be something the boat uses partnered with AT&T, just for them. Or the signal is just that strong over water that it can broadcast but not transmit back from your phone to the tower?

I meant that the signal is strong and water amplifies the signal. But then again I'm not a RF engineer, just grasping at straws.
