I'd like to put some PDFs on one of the homescreens on my Xoom. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot but it doesn't seem to have the capability built in. Could someone explain to me how to do this? I downloaded ES File Explorer and found the pdf in the download directory. I assume I can just cut and paste it to a directory and it will show up on a homescreen?

I do the same thing. We recently bought a house and everyone always as me for pictures and the floor plan. I created a pdf that I sent around, but it's useful to have it on the xoom to show people.
I have two suggestions, both of which I use:
1. Download Astro. You can then create a direct shortcut to any file including a pdf. Go to "+" --> More --> Astro. Browse to the file you want. The location depends on how you got the pdf onto the device. Since that file doesn't change, that works.
2. Use dropbox. This is good option for pdf's that change a lot. I often read weekly publications that I get in pdf. I created a direct shortcut to a dropbox folder. When I'm using my computer, I get and store pdf's there and use it as a "read later" option. Creating the dropbox folder is also in the "more" tab.
Both work for me pretty well. hope this helps.
to answer the OP android doesn't support files on the home screen like a desktop on windows or Mac
A stupid bug in S Memo deleted all my existing memos!!
To replicate this:
1. create two folders, say "folder1" and "folder2", and create a couple memo pages in each of these folders.
2. in root directory (i.e. "S Memo"), create a pile, say "pile1"
3. use Move function to move all pages in "pile1" into the folder "folder1". now only folders and an empty pile in root directory (but no memo in root directory).
4. at root directory long-press "pile1" to delete this empty pile
5. confirm at the message "The pile will be deleted"
6. all my existing memos, including those moved pages inside "folder1" and any other folders (including those protected with PIN) are now gone!!!
this bug (#6 above) happens when there are only folders but no memo directly in the root directory.

ok, thanks for the feedback, now i know what i shouldn't do.
Thanks for pointing this bug out.
How on earth did you find this? Is this something most S Memo users will encounter, or do we really have to look for it, like you did? Does this only affect rooted users?
I really don't want to find this bug. I noticed this bug because I lost all my memos while I was taking notes in a meeting!
ps. My device is not rooted, and I regret this. With root + titanium backup, I may have had my own backup.

I found TitaniumBackup to restore white sheets instead of notes filled with contents.

If so, maybe I should try sync with Google Doc, even though the content will be converted to an image.

Has anybody replicated this error?

Google note sync works great. Have been using it well .
Titanium works with S-Memo - somewhat

Just found out that if you open and edit a note the content re-appears - so it is saved and restored with Titanium, but has to be recreated from the dataset. I have so many memos that I wish there was a quicker way to restore them than to open each one.
Anyone tried saving them to a Dropbox folder?

Sorry.. wrong thread.. delete
@cyman777 Excellent find!
With the more recent software revisions S-Note can sync to Evernote by the way. Since I don't have an Evernote account, I cannot say if notes get converted to an image as (reportedly) the case when syncing to Google or if they get synced in their native format.

Though I have surprisingly lost all my notes TWICE as well, i tried to replicate the process as you described but all the folders & the files inside are still existing this time! Nothing has been deleted after deleting the last empty pile & while making sure there are no individual notes on the root! So i think this bug does exist, but may have nothing to do with single notes on root or not! Please advice if you have found an explanation or a solution to this serious problem!
Life changing!
This happened to me twice, resulting in me not wanting to use the S Memo app anymore.
Lost a good ~30 sketches the first time and a lot of notes the second time.
I cant trust this app anymore, and it was so close to being that one thing i always needed.....
What were you doing messing about with the root directory in the first place. Surely it's not a bug but more a user created error!
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note using XDA Premium app.
root directory of S-Memo, not / (=root) in the filesystem structure. Hence an application bug, not a user created error.
Did any of you already report it to Samsung? Otherwise it wont get fixed anyway...

It just happened to me. 100 sketches and notes, neatly organised in piles, all gone. I am an architect so I sketch not just for fun. I have filled many physical sketchbooks over many years until last fall when my dream gadget was introduced by samsung, with S-Memo being the one killer application that tells the whole story of the device.
So the Note is a device that you can draw on with a pen and every now and then it deletes everything you drew.
I am running out of words for this.
- sync methods -
I just posted a similar sync alternative in one of my threads a few days ago, which can be used for S-MEMO as well:
This is my workaround for *in this case* S-Memo:
You need:
- A Dropbox account
- A Dropbox sync app like Dropsync (link)

Sadly S-Memo seems not to store the drawings in an easy to find folder (please tell me if i´m wrong!), Note Everthing makes it easier here...it places a folder on your SD Card, which contains every single note you take (JPEGs, textfiles, Soundfiles etc.).
What I´m doing is the following: Every here and then, I´m exporting my sketches in PDF converted files (just hit the menu button in the "root directory" of s-memo and you´ll see what I mean). Now all your sketches will be saved automatically to your s-memo folder on the internal SD card. And here the content of my thread again:
I´m autosyncing this folder to my Dropbox via Dropsync...and voila, here we are, I´m happy!

Of course, there is GDocs as well (and it works well)...but I like it more to have my sketches on my desktop when I´m at home without having to visit the browser and download my stuff again.
I got the note 3 and gave my wife my beloved note 2. Before doing so, I saved a bunch of stuff from the note 2 to my computer (including a bunch of S notes). Does anyone know if i can transfer the s notes via computer to the note 3 and where to put them on the note 3 so that they show up in s note. Any information is much appreciated.
You can put them in your s-notes folder. When you go to open them, it will tell you it needs to convert them for you.
Perfect. Thank you. Had to make a note for the folder to appear.
I have saved a few images from pdf files on the note 3 scrap book but it saves them as scs file, do how do i copy paste them images into slides on a powerpoint presentation please
just answering my own query in case it helps someone else in the same situation. Couldnt find the scrap book folder where the scraps are saved. i tried using file explorers. then realised using scrapbook app i have to manually click on each scrap and then save as image and then it saves it in the sub folder called scrapbook under the pictures folder and from there you can copy paste on to power point slides using office apps. round about way and i hope in future samsung gives an easy way to access the images via the clip board instead.
Does anyone know how or where "notes" from IOS are transferred to the S8? I did the file transfer wizard on the s8 and it showed notes were transferred however when I look in Samsung notes there is nothing? Anywhere else I should be looking?
