No it is not Penta-band enabled...but that doesn't mean we can't tweak it. Missing bands are easily enabled on Samsung devices.

I did a few nights of googling (much more elusive than your typical google) and I felt confident enough to use qpst. Tomorrow I'm going to stop by a WIND booth and see if their SIM works in my phone.
My first attempt left me with no service at all, which was a bit alarming, but then my second attempt brought back my service. So apparently I did SOMETHING to the radio lol
I'll update tomorrow when I find out if it worked or not. If it worked, I'll post something telling you what I did.
Sorry for the late reply, I just followed a thread on using qpst to change the radio band values and it enabled support for wind
I'll grab the qcn file off the phone.

Yeah, whatever I did didn't work
I basically went into utms service in qpst and selected all the bands (any BC). The first time I unchecked exclusive access and I got no service, then I rechecked it and it worked again. However I got an error on the write each time....
Edit: and I brought it into Wind and it wasn't working.
The G2 is my sisters phone so as soon as I get a hold of it I'll upload the qcn file.

Hello,
I bought an unlocked I9505 version of the Galaxy S4 and live in the US and my carrier is AT&T.
I know I have LTE service in my area since I came from iPhone and other phones in my household has LTE service in their phone's but mine?
My I9505 only shows and toggles between H and H+ but not the 4G and LTE subscript text next to the signal bars.
I've checked to make sure that under Mobile Networks that LTE/GSM/WCDMA is chosen and APN* settings are correct.
Anyone else having the same experience? Is there something wrong with the phone?

Yes, I also called AT&T support to make sure I'm provisioned to have LTE and they said yes.
In germany we have a problem too.
interrupts the LTE network and you have no more contact?
It seems as if there were in all i9505's the problem. I turned it off, because LTE is too expensive here.

As far as I know of, the GT-I9505 does not support AT&T LTE bands. This would explain why you can't get any LTE signal with it.

Awww, that's a bummer.
I am having the exact same issue, I have an i9505 and do not get the option of LTE on the list only GSM/WCDMA, GSM Only or WCDMA Only.
I had an LTE S3 and obviously that had an option for it in the network settings.
If the 4G was not compatible in my area then i would assume it would not be able to find a signal and not just disallow the selection in the settings.
Im in Australia btw and bought it unlocked from a company that shipped from Hong Kong.

You need a LTE compatible USIM to be able to list the "4G" option otherwise it does not appear. It's kinda stupid but it's the way it works.

Ok. What would that mean? I was assured by the company I bought it from that it would work.
My csc is i9505zzhamde if that helps
I've contacted AT&T tech support and found out the reason why I can't get LTE. Different techs will give you different answers so I kept prying each
tech that I've encountered with to give me some sensible answer.
One tech said that the 9'th and 10th digit of the ATT sim should be 2 and 5. I checked my old iPhone's nano sim and it was 2 and 5. The replacement sim that I've received when I got my S4 was 2 and 9. So I went to an AT&T store to have my sim replaced, ofcourse they ignored what I told them that I'd like to have a sim with the 9th and 10th digit to be 2 and 5. ATT rep said that their new sim should work with LTE (which I thought should be) regardless of the 9th and 10th digit. Then, nothing still H+. Oh well...
So went home and tried chatting with the rep again and found out this:
LTE service is not provisioned in my plan since AT&T's system can't recognize my phone's IMEI hence they can't add it to their system.
So does that mean that GT-I9505 can have 4g LTE with AT&T's as long as they can register my IMEI on their network?
but w/e the sooner I can get over that I9505 isn't compatible with AT&T 's LTE the better.
Hm... When I was with Hybrid ROM MDN and modem MDN without ANY CSC, it shows me LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect). But now I flashed Modified MDM ROM with MDM modem with BTU CSC and the LTE disappeared..... I have only GSM/WCDMA option.... (just to remind that My GSM Operator does not provide LTE)
What do you think? maybe the LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect) in the menu depends on th chosen CSC...
I think they are telling you a bunch of lies. The I9505 does not have the LTE bands for AT&T and that's really all there is to it.

Hi everyone,
I recently got an amazon.COM gift card, but I live in Canada. I want to purchase a Galaxy S4 but I don't know which movel to get. From my understanding, the model Telus Canada offers is the i337m, so naturally I looked at the sgh-i337 offered by AT&T. Will I get LTE network using the AT&T S4 on Telus?
Some of my research:
The SGH-I337 works on the following bands:
LTE: Bands 1/4/7/17; HSPA+/UMTS: 850/1900/2100MHz; GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz
(source: Samsung website (can't post external links =[ ))
And according to this page: wikipedia/List_of_LTE_networks#Americas (again, no external links), it would seem that Telus uses band 4 for its LTE networks. Can anyone confirm if this will allow the SGH-I9337 to have LTE network on Telus?
Thanks!
It works if you have it unlocked.

But the I9505 won't have LTE network on Telus, right?
Update
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd write a follow-up on this thread for anyone that might stumble on it later on.
I did receive my unlocked SGH-I337 (not SGH-I337M) and it did not immediately work on Telus' LTE network (it didn't even work on 3G/EDGE either). But I did not stop there. I set the APN setting as mentionned on Telus' website and that didn't work either. At that point I was a bit desperate and I called Telus to make sure it wasn't something on their end, it wasn't. At this point I was a little panicking, I thought I would have to re-sell my phone.
So I rooted my phone using this technique: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387577 (I had the MF3 firmware version).
Then I did this "hack" to enable more LTE bands: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 (*#7284# didn't work for me, but I found the solution elsewhere, I had to use *#0808* instead).
Then using *#2263# I chose "[6] LTE/WCDMA Mode Only" and voilĂ , I was using Telus' LTE network!
Credit goes to authors in the posts mentioned above.
Hopefully this might help someone else at some point! Thanks everyone.
You need to unlock your phone to enable lte hack, while root is not necessary.
Congrats on its working now.

I might be getting the VZW version because I live outside of the US too and my carrier works on 3G 900Mhz and (correct me anyone if I'm mistaken) the AT&T version does not support that band.

Verizon works in the US and is SIM unlocked. Using metro and T-Mobile Sims now as I test out their networks......
Edit: let me also point out you have to add the apn if you want data. You don't have to call Verizon or anything. Just plug in the SIM card of your choice add the apn and you are good to go. This has been done on all verizon LTE phones with SIM cards as long as the phone supports the bands of the network you are trying to use.

Just check the sim card. A USIM means the Sim card does the LTE authentication while the device does the CDMA authentication. A CSIM means that both LTE and CDMA Authentication comes from the sim card and you can hot swap devices by using the sim card just like the Iphone 5s/5c which uses CSIM.

USIM .. like most current Sprint devices. So most of the provisioning is still done in the EFS.. unlike the 5s which relies entirely on the sim card.

Sounds like maybe LTE 2600 (B41) hand off issues between the different LTE bands that is causing the delay. What does this phone being an exclusive triband have to do with it? Obviously the demo units are already available so the phone must be done. I doubt it is due to production issues since LG shouldn't need to make as many phones at launch like Verizon or ATT do. Doesn't sound like it makes any sense to me. Oct 25th would have already been pushing it.

That seems to be my guess that Sprint is waiting on the LTE 2600 network to be built out a bit more before launch. But it also could be that Sprint can be having LTE 2600 TD-LTE to LTE 1900 FDD LTE hand off issues that is causing the delay.

OK, maybe not explained well and I had read this post that you "suggest" ... I'm from Colombia and I bought the phone on ebay, I contacted Sprint, and the answer was that they would not give me the lock code because the phone is not on an active account since the phone is new, then I kept looking on xda and found how to get the MSL.
Now, I got the MSL, but my question is how I program or configure the phone to open the bands ... or unlock it, I don't know how and Sprint don't answer me, and in the post that you "suggest" no information... by the way, thanks for the sarcasm ...

While I appreciate the effort, I don't think this unlocks the Sprint LS 980, but just opens up new LTE bands, what we were(or at least I was) is a way to use a local SIM card internationally without having to contact sprint, which I've tried and they won't comply. From what I understand, sprint sends an OTA update to the phone enabling the international local SIM usage, meaning that the phone does it naturally, just sprint blocks something on it.
But many thanks either way
Gotcha. Sorry about that. Good luck with it.

No problem buddy, I am wondering if making an official thread about unlocking the LS980, to gather all the info we can come up with, and maybe then we can find a solution.
This won't help anything... Just a placebo effect.. Spark LTE is not available so this atm is pointless.

The unlocking the band thing yes since it's got nothing to do with unlocking it, but the original thread is about unlocking the sprint variant LS980, so best if you specify what the placebo effect is about.

This won't help anything... Just a placebo effect.. Spark LTE is not available so this atm is pointless.

Just a question, were you reffering to the spark LTE or the unlocking this? Because I'm not sure how they relate.
Today sprint released a ZV8 firmware update for the ls980, but still is locked for other networks.
Dammit! I've ordered few LG G2 Sprint, for use with GSM services overseas, but now I see that I'm in trouble cause of that Sprint's lock!!
Is there any solution???

Why is this so hidden in the forums? It's an incredibly useful piece of information! I haven't got to test it yet but I'm going to indonesia in a few days and will have the opportunity to try out a gsm network there. Thanks much!

I'm pretty sure this isn't going to help you on GSM.
It's for Sprint's new CDMA LTE bands I do believe.
