I transferred all of my songs which are categorized in folders and for some reason, Poweramp is thinking that there's two of each folders, thus causing duplicates of each song. Anyone know how to fix this? I have made sure that only 1 folder of each exists and if I use Poweramp to delete 1 song, it deletes both copies off my internal storage.

It's actually just an duplicate folder. Something to do with how JellyBean files things I think.
Check the following in PowerAmp
Go to Menu/Settings/Folders and Library/Music Folders
Once you get through all of that, you'll see all the folders expanded. You'll notice 2 Music folders. Uncheck one of them. I don't pretend to know what's going on under the hood with the Android OS but there seems like there is only one file there, the OS just points to it in two places. One is the actual folder, the other is emulated.
Hope this helps

Almost forgot.
After all that navigating and after you uncheck one of the Music folders, don't forget to press the select folders button at the bottom. This will do a quick rescan and drop out the duplicates.

Wow you're right. I had to scroll down further and to my surprise there was a legacy directory. Unchecked Music from that and boom all my songs are now singles. Thanks!

I've placed pictures on an SD card in media/pictures. Most are in sub-folders with only a handful with no designation just floating around in media/pictures. When I went into pictures to choose a wallpaper EVERYTHING is there. All out in the open. No groups. Even album pictures from my media/music folder.
What's going on? I'd just like to, from the home screen, hit menu > wallpaper > pictures and have them show up in groups so I can just go to my media/pictures/wallpaper folder.
How can I just add walls to the Wallpaper Gallery? What file explorer is good to get from the Market Place?
I've looked around but the answers are scattered and file explorers are mentioned but no one's said outright "yeah, use this one..."
rly? i mean rly!? come on now...
So much activity around the forums and no one knows what to do for sorting pics on an SD card or accessing the default location for wallpapers...

Hi, how is you VB. Coding?
I had the same issue and I just wrote a simple program to rename the .jpg’s in the date order I wanted.
I can post the code if you want? I think its possible to do it in VBA as well, but I found there was a lot more information relating to the .NET stuff
Thanks but I was really just looking for a recommended directory structure for the SD card and a way to get the gallery to NOT show album art for my music. I tried naming the folder .music but then the phone could not find the music!
Also, I have custom ringtones/mp3's used as ringtones on my SD which the phone loses after having mounted it to the pc?! I set a ringtone for a contact then at some point I mount the phone to USB and then I find on my contact that the ringtone is now "unknown." I tried copying the mp3's I most use as ringtones to the phone but I was told that it could not be done by AndExplorer...
Kinda sad at this point. :\
I recently got cyanogen mod 6 on my htc legend, and was just exploring the apps. One app, is Gallery (which came stock with cyanogen and possibly with android in general).
I see 3 albums, called Desktop, Desktop and Test. I guess these are just folders i created at some point prior to trying cyanogen.
But I dont want those albums there, and when i click the album, there is no delete option. Other albums I have the option to delete, but just not these 3.
I tried mounting my sd card, and searching for the file names for those pics, and the album names, but i cant find it. Which then makes me think, that its not on the sd, but stored internally instead ?
How can I find and delete these pictures ?
Just some more information, i cleared the gallery cache through the applications setting, and loaded gallery again, and those albums with the pictures are gone...
I waited sometime, because ive done this before, but after some time they came back...but currently, its been a few mins since I cleared the cache and everything seems to be in order...
ill post back in a few hours, if they come back. Otherwise, this thread can be deleted.
Ok, the pictures are back. It took sometime after clearing the cache, but somehow, those albums and pictures are back.
One thing I did see, is that all the albums I CAN delete, have a folder icon on the bottom left. The ones that i CANNOT delete, have a camera (or aperature) icon on the bottom left.
Help ?
i downloaded QuickPic, a photo viewer app, and it does not list the albums/pics in question that Gallery seems to show.
QuickPic is set up to search for pics on /mnt/sdcard
which then just furthur makes me think that the folder Desktop and test are someone on the internal memory.
I tried to use astro, and dual file browser to search, for those folders but couldnt find it.
I tried to use terminal and use "find . -type d Desktop" (which i believe searches the root directory for a folder called Desktop) but that returned with nothing.
Im at a loss. Its not the end of the world if these pics are here, but really, i dont want them there and I should be able to remove them.
bump...any ideas or things to try ?
Hey, there is an edit button you know. You don't need to post new reply again and again. Btw if the pictures keeps coming back. That means there is an app that is doing that. Look around for any apps that might be doing that.
There is no edit for these pictures( the ones i want gone), the rest of the pictures (i want to keep), have the edit button which includes delete.
When i click the pictures i dont want and press the menu button to show me more options, I only have Share and More. In 'More' I have Details and Set as Wallpaper
I have 2 photo viewers (Gallery and QuickPic) and QuickPic does not show those pictures(the ones i want gone)...only in Gallery.

In the 'Details' option, there should be a path entry.

Swyped from my legend using XDA app.
i think rajasyaitan is referring this thread so that you can just edit the first post and update it. no need for you to make new post every time you come back.
hmm i had the same problem tho i'll avoid to use the load all photos. but in my sd card i have copy of live usb in it. i just don't know how to tell gallery to exclude it...

There isnt.
Solved.
Ok I figured it out.
If anyone is wondering. The gallery app is somehow tied into your google account, and if you have a picasa web album set up, it automatically pulls. Which is why I couldn't delete it or even find it because it was never on the phone.
Just randomly decided to log into picassa web album and saw the stupid album names I gave it and it clicked.
Ok..mystery solved.
Dunno when the new version came out but clearly Power Amp is already on a roll with ICS...its looking sweet!
I love it. So clean.

Try uninstalling, rebooting and installing again. It lost all my tags, but I did that and it fixed everything up.
V2 - Change to way music Folders are displayed.
Distressed by the change to the way folders are displayed in V2. I have always used FOLDERS to select and play my music, rather than the LIBRARY option. I just prefer to navigate my files this way.
Upon pressing FOLDERS, PowerAmp used to display my music folders like this:
/NEW MUSIC
/FULL ALBUMS
/VARIOUS TRACKS
/MIXES
...which made selecting music very quick and easy.
But now with V2, when I hit FOLDERS, I now have all the contents (hundreds of sub folders and loose mp3s) of these 4 folders on the primary screen, making navigation a chore...
It's a mess. can anyone help me get things back to the excellent way they were?
Big PowerAmp fan! Keep up the good work.
Thanks
I got my answer from another post. Thought I should share:
Options->List Options->View As: Hierarchy
I tried the new Poweramp and could not get the widget to work as it used to. I had to reinstall the old Poweramp.
It didn't work with the long press of volume buttons on cm7. Back to build 387
-Dual core? I don't need no stinking dual core!-
Im prolly alone on this one but I'm not really a big fan of volume buttons changing tracks..but I'm weird like that
After moving all my pictures from my One X to the Nexus 4 they wont order correctly when sorting by date. This is a problem in the stock gallery as well as in Quick Pic. I've always ordered my photos by date in descend order but the phone doesnt seem to be reading the dates on the photos correctly. Even tried the "Fix Date" option in quickpic but it makes no difference. Anyone else experiencing this or know of any way to fix it so it ready the EXIF data correctly? Its annoying having to hunt through my pictures for one that was taken days ago. :/
I think when you copied them onto the new device it refreshed the dates.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I suspected the same except when I view the details of the pictures in quick pic the correct dates are there
Apparently the problem is that neither Gallery nor QuickPic sorts the pictures by EXIF date but by "file modified date". According to the author of QuickPic the "fix date" feature does not work on Nexus 4 because of the EXT4 file system.
If you still have your old phone then the easiest way to fix this problem is the following:
1. Copy all your new pictures made by the Nexus 4 to your PC.
2. Delete all the pictures on your Nexus 4
3. Copy the pictures from your old phone one by one in the desired order to your Nexus 4
4. Copy your new pictures from your PC in the desired order too
That should make them appear correctly in the Gallery.
Thanks for the info. I ended up downloading an app that lets you edit the date modified and have been slowly changing the dates. Its a big job though with hundreds of pictures. Honestly I've just learned to live with it, all new photos are in order anyway.
Which app is it? I'm interested too

Or you could edit the dates on a computer and then adb push them back to your phone.

Had the same issue
How can you change the date modified with Photo Editor? The only way I found in it was too totally change all the attributes including the file name to NOW but not to some time in the past.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
You can type in the DateTime field and manually input the date you want. No need to edit any other field.
Hmm... I'm probably missing something here, maybe you can point me in the right direction?
Here is what I'm doing:
1. I open photo editor
2. I click on file browser or on gallery (tried both of them) and select the picture to modify
3. I click the save button (the floppy disk icon in the top right corner)
4. I chose MODIFY
5. The EXIF editor opens showing me 3 DateTime fields which all contain already the correct date and time the picture has been taken
6. I click OK and Overwrite
The result is that this picture jumps to the top of my list in gallery or QuickPic as it is the newest file modified. Checking the folder with a file manager the date of the picture is actually NOW and not the taken date from the past.
As you need root access to modify the "date modified" and this app does not request root access, this does not even come as a surprise to me.
I'm just really wondering how you manage to accomplish our goal.

anyway, there's a lot easy way to fix it than renaming hundreds of photos one by one.
Hi,
I've tried following online instructions for adding custom notification sounds, which say to copy the sound file to storage>emulated>notifications, and then selecting the sound via settings>[app of interest]. But when trying to use the custom sound for the messages app, the new sound doesn't appear in the list, and I can't find a way to select any other custom sound.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks...
restart the phone or use some app for media data base refresh
of the top of my head SD scanner or something like this is the name of the app
just search play store for Media data base scanner or rescan
Thanks for the tip. I've rebooted, and downloaded/run SD Scanner, with no joy. The file I'm trying to use is in mp3 format; is that a problem?
FWIW, the problem S10 is my wife's phone. I used the recommended process last night to add the same mp3 file to my ancient Nexus 6P, and in a strange sequence of events, it didn't 'take' last night when we checked, but when I got my 1st text this morning, the notification sound had changed to the new sound.
The S10's available sounds under 'general notifications'>'sound' include a category of 'custom', which has 'Facebook Pop' as its only entry, but I can't find any way to access the 'custom' category to add a file to it.
Again, thanks for any assistance.

hmmm just to be clear you added mp3 to Notification folder (the default one) and i wont show up in app when trying to change the sound or it wont show up in samsung's notification sound selection? (also try adding the sound to ringtones folder)
also you could try converting the sound to *.OGG see if that does the trick?
Correct. Added to Notification folder, but file name doesn't show up it the selection list for messages app sounds, nor any of the general 'sounds and vibration' subcategories. I'll try to convert the file to .ogg format and retry.
Thanks; will post my results.

Converted to .ogg, added to notifications, ringtones, and the just-noticed 'sounds' folder. I can now see the file under 'settings'> 'sounds and vibration'>'ringtone' in the 'custom' category. I can change the ringtone to the new file. But it does *not* appear anywhere in the settings>notification sound section, nor as an option when going down the menu tree for the messages app notifications. The ringtone category also includes multiple other custom audio files, but the notification sound category has only that 'facebook pop' file under the custom category.
OK, I tried multiple other things, and in the process, discovered (via a file explorer app that I'm comfortable with) that there's a folder under storage>emulated> called 'mobile content'. In *that* folder are folders with the same names as under the 'emulated' parent folder: data, dcim, download, notifications, ringtones, sounds, etc.
So.... I copied the files to notifications, ringtones, and sounds, and now the desired file shows up in the messages list. And, we now get the desired sound as a messages notification.
Thanks for the help, and a heads-up to the next person that has to deal with this. The phone had a hard reset before being gifted to my wife from her son. We used Samsung's transfer app to move her data/apps from her Samsung S8+ to this phone, and we haven't created any new folders beyond those created by Samsung.
Again, thanks for the help; without the new ideas I'd never have dug that deep into the directory tree on the phone.
Charlie
Followup:
Apparently you can get a messages 'notification' (for what?) that's different from a 'new messages' 'notification'.
Duh. Nothing I've found online about the Samsung s10 mentions this.
