Hey guys Im coming from phiremod 6.3. Wanted to give my sister my nook and figured id load newest cm7 rom. Followed directions and went to reboot and i get stuck at the green cm screen with blue loading underneath. Tried over and over again and cant get past it. Figured it was the version of cwm i had. Not the case. Ive tried 2 dif versions. Any suggestions as what I should do.
Ive include a pic of what im talking about. Crappy quality but it was taken from my webcam. Please help me
Have you tried the latest version of CWM? Perhaps try redownloading your CM7 img.
Did you delete cache, dalvik cache? Failing that, data/factory restore and maybe fix permissions? Since you're giving it to sis, there's no reason not to do a factory reset.
Those, in that order, usually fix that problem when I've encountered it.
Hey guys,
this is my first post and my problem is as follows:
I had ICS 4.0.x on my galaxy tab 10,1 P7500, I then installed CWM 5.5.0.4. but had a rolling window. I then continued to install a bootloader (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27830023&postcount=41) with the appropriate bootloader for the p4. This fixed the rolling recovery and allowed me to install CM10 using CWM.
But my current problem is when the device goes on sleep mode and I wake the device up the screen is scrambled, can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Thank you in advance
The only fix i found is for HC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680738
Edit:
I fixed the rolling screen issue after screen unlock with pershoot's help, thanks again pershoot!
Maybe it will also work for you , here we go:
If you have installed the latest cm10 build, there is only one issue for the p4wifi , you must be on the US ICS Bootloader .
So download the recovery.tar.md5 from here:
http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10/p4wifi/recovery.tar.md5
Than go into download mode and flash this recovery using ODIN, (select pda and look for this file where you safed it, than click start)
Than, download the right US ICS Bootloader here:
http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10/p4wifi/US_LPL_4.0.4_bootloader.zip
Flash this also via ODIN in the PDA section, this may take a little longer, don't panic...
After that, the tablet will reboot and it should work... don't blame me if it didn't, but i had this rolling screen on almost every rom, and everything is fixed now...
I wish you good luck because i know it IS very annoying..
Thanks for the reply DefQon, I agree I think this is most annoying errors I have ever gotten.
I also searched high and low and could only find the fix for HC.

Please help - When turning off the Screen Android 4.1.1 will not come back on
I have the following problem.
When I install one of the latest rom e.g.
[ROM] [JB] [P4--P4WIFI--P4VZW]
4.1.2 AOKP for the Galaxy Tab 10.1
or
[ROM][JB][CM10] Android 4.1.1 - CyanogenMod 10 Preview
then I have this problem:
When I turn off with the "Power"-Hardbutton, then it turns off, but it does not turn back on. The screen stays black.
With the Rom ...
[ROM][JB][CM10] Android 4.1.1 - CyanogenMod 10 Preview "cm-10-20120814-EXPERIMENTAL-p4.zip" from August everything works fine.
Since I had this flickering problem I flashed the bootloader before I installed all these Roms.
But one works and all new ones don't.
Anyone has a idea what to do?
thx

Problems solved
I solved my problems. I installed the "custom" bootloader for each Rom and the "black screen" problem is now gone.
Thanx anyway.

I have tested the fix for weeks now and it worked great.
Except, this afternoon my tablet randomly restarted and now won't go past CM 10 boot screen.
Any idea whether reflashing the ROM without wyping, purely just installing (as is) CM10 M2 from CWM? Or any other ideas?
I have tried clearing the cache and the dalvik cache. I then tried doing a factory reset but it doesn't seem to proress. I thought if I can do a factory reset then reinstall the ROM I might get it to work but I can't install the ROM as it says "Error (Status 7)?
I have tried formatting the /data in attempt to get the factory reset to work but this also freezes.
Currently, my tablet is in an infinite loop cycle and I cannot change the ROM or do a factory reset.
Thanks, you guys have really been helpful!

After hours of trying I have found a solution.
I previously had done backups. I tried each one until one started restoring. It completed quite a lot till it froze and I restarted into recovery.
I did a cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe and could then complete a factory reset.
It has now booted completely into ICS where I can now flash CM10 again.
The tablet works normally as you would expect on ICS. I booted into recovery and tried to flash CM10 M2 for the GT-P7500 but I still get a error, status 7.
Anyone experienced this?

Status 7 usually indicates the wrong update file, are you sure you are flashing the right ROM for the 7500?
Perhaps try to flash the recovery and bootloader first and then the right ROM and see what happens?

The thing is it is the exact same file I used to flash the previous time.. I first updated my recovery and bootloader before flashing and still get the error. Thanx for the thought though.
First, let me get the formalities out of the way... long time lurker, first time poster. I hope you guys can help me out!
My GS4 semi-bricked while trying to restore my phone from LiquidSmooth ROM . My phone had no MAC address nor IP address after I flashed to LiquidSmooth, so I figured I needed to restore files I may have accidentally deleted.. The phone became stuck on the splash screen so I tried pulling the battery, going into recovery, and clearing cache/dalvik. No luck.
So then I tried to restore using a backup that I had made before flashing, but then it got stuck on the AT&T screen. Tried to clear cache/dalvik, but it didn't work. I thought maybe the back up didn't work because I was flashed into a different ROM, so I downloaded this stock rom by scrosier, and tried again... but to no avail.
Now I want to try flashing the phone back to stock, but I have a early 2008 MacBook running 10.7.5 (Lion). Odin is windows only, and Heimdall doesn't work on my version of OS X (keeps crashing the moment I open it). I thought maybe updating my MacBook to Mountain Lion (10.8) might work, but Mountain Lion is not supported on my Macbook, thus cannot update OS X... and I don't have access to a PC at this moment either.
Is my only option to go out and buy windows and install on bootcamp? Does anyone know if I could flash my phone back to stock using the computer I have now?
Sorry if my post didn't make any sense. I'm in a hurry and I want to fix my phone already! Thanks in advance
EDIT:
I have TWRP 2.5.0.3 on my phone

If you are able to access recovery then do this:
Put Liquid Smooth and its gapps on the external card using a card reader
Go into recovery, factory reset, wipe both caches, format /system, flash the rom and gapps, reboot

I actually tried to reflash Liquid Smooth and wiped cache / factory reset, but once it reboots, a screen pops up that says "Android is updating" and updates 120 files. However, when it finishes, it gives me an error along the lines of "Unfortunately... something something," and instantly reboots. Then it hangs on the Liquid Smooth splash screen. Couldn't get a good look at what the message said because it happens so quickly.

Then I suggest you flash a different ROM. Try out Slim. Liquid Smooth is just a Slim ripoff.
Put Slim and the Addons on the SD, and flash it like you would when changing ROMs. A clean wipe.

That's not Slim, he just put Slim because it's slimmed down. I haven't personally tried it. I'm a tester for SlimRoms, so thats all I ever run. Test builds. It does look nice though, but it won't have near the customization of Slim.

Yes, slimroms.net
It just depends on whether or not you want all of the Google apps typically in a regular gapps pkg, or a stripped down version. I use the AIO_Addons, or you could get the Aroma, so you can pick and choose. The Slim_gapps is a stripped down version.

Last time I flashed a weekly, it wasn't loki'd, but that was a while back. I'm running test builds from black_jck, and build my own sometimes. I mentioned it to him that the weekly wasn't loki'd but that was a while back, so I can't speak for them now. The official builds are. If you're going to flash the weekly, flash loki_doki just to be safe.

Alright, so I flashed Slim and the AIO_addons, and rebooted the phone.
Once it was rebooting, the screen i mentioned earlier popped up, that said "Android is updating" and went through 109 files. When it was done, an error popped up quickly, saying that "Unfortunately..." and I couldn't read the rest before the phone rebooted. I let the screen hang for about 10 minutes, pulled the battery, cleared cache and dalvik, and rebooted again. No luck.
I think my best option now would be to return to stock, but I can't using my macbook. So my original question still stands.. How can I return to stock without using Odin and Heimdall?

I would say so myself, Odin back to stock, but since you have a mac and I'm not sure if Heimdall support the S4 try this:
Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Format /system
Format /data
Format /internal (If CWM-based recovery)
Flash ROM, addons, reboot

Well thanks for all your help! Happy that my phone is working again without having to flash to stock.
Phone booted normally once I switched to SlimBean. Much snappier and responsive than LiquidSmooth. Fixed the problems I was having with WiFi also.
Still haven't figured out a way to flash to stock using OS X Lion since Heimdall doesn't work and Odin is Windows only... Mods please lock or close thread because I don't need help anymore

Glad you got it going man, and enjoy Slim, it's hands down the best ROM there is if you prefer minimal with tons of customization options.
So i have the I337m, canadian model S4 on Bell Mobility network, and I"m running SlimRoms with 2.5.0.2 twrp recovery.
Every other reboot, the phone gets stuck on the splash screen, I have no problem to go into recovery mode or anything, this is simply a problem when rebooting and gets stuck on the "Galaxy S4" screen. Here's what I've tried, tried both with TWRP and CWM and TWRP seems better, I don't get stuck on the splash screen as often as CWM. I've reverted back to the "stock ROM" and rerooted and loaded the TWRP recovery, and while it seems better at first, it slowly gets stuck more and more at the splash screen.
I'm running out of ideas, no knowing what do to to improve this problem...
Anyone else having this problem? I'm positive this is not a "ROM" related problem but a recovery problem, yet maybe it's just my phone that's being the problem.
JP
I'll also add that I've never formated data on TWRP... since I've read it gives that problem.

You have to do a factory reset, wipe data, or you will get a boot loop. Do that and I'm sure you'll get past the boot loop. If you're concerned about the version of twrp you're on, update it.

I'm not getting boot loops actually, I get stuck on the "splash screen" and when I hold the "power" button for +/-10sec it reboots and most of the time it's fine.
When I install any roms, I always do a factory reset... So I doubt it's that
i had the same issue. im running the same s4 on koodo/telus. how i got it to work took a while but it fixed the problem. full back up through recovery but i wasnt gona use it..i only had it for safety. used titanium to back up all the apks. then grabbed a stock rom from the Canadian stock roms page and used odin to flash it. rooted and added recovery (twrp). downloaded my rom to the sd, wiped everything and installed the rom. once done then used titanium to restore the apks. im still learning the basics to all this so in no way am i an expert and theres probably a better way around all this but this is what worked for me. maybe it helps who who knows

I was having a similar problem to your's. I found the cause of my issue. It was TWRP 2.6.0.0. More specifically, it was using TWRP 2.6 to format my /data partition. After doing some trouble shooting, I found that my /data partition was the cause of my S4 hanging at the S4 splash screen. Like you, I was able to get into Android on the first boot, but if I tried to reboot, I was get stuck at the splash screen. So, long story short (solution), I restored one of my nandroid backups, got into Google Play, downloaded ROM Manager and installed CWM. I used CWM to format my /data partition and ONLY my /data partition. Once I did this, I rebooted my phone. Android loaded, I had to go through the initial setup process since I formatted the /data partition, but after this, I was able to reboot my phone 5 times in a row without issue and shut down twice with no problems booting back up.

So it seems like this wasn't exactly my problem... I've reverted back to stock and I'm doing a couple shutdowns and reboot and see if I still get stuck at the splash screen.
I've been doing reboots and shutdowns on the "stock" rom and "stock" recovery, and all is good, so I can rule out the fact that it's the phone and it's hardware issues...
Now, just need to figure out the actual problem

So far so good. I rebooted many times since I made the post in this thread. Haven't got stuck on the splash screen yet.
I'm still having the problem, being on either the TWRP, CWM or Philz recovery, so I'm really not sure what it could be. I'm on the latest modem and still have the problem, is none else having these issues?
I'm getting annoyed and really want to get this fixed.
I think any ROM built on AOSP or CyanogenMod have this issue. It's already a known issue to CM.
Use CWM and you'll have to deal with it less.

Yeah, but I don't think its a big deal anyway. How many times do you turn off your phone and turn it back on in a day?
Hello, i hope you guy could help with a problem that i bumped into. Today i wanted to install the chronic kernel to fiddle around with some overclocking, so i had to root the device as the chronic kernel post suggested and i did. The rooting was successful at first so i tried installing the chronic kernel i got some errors while installing it and the phone rebooted but got stuck on the samsung logo. So i read the post once more and i had forgotten to clear the dalvik cache and cache. so i reflashed my rom again to restore the kernel. The phone did boot like normal again. But now everytime i try to root the phone it gets stuck on the samsung logo. What can i do to properly root the phone again? i used the TWRP-2.8.1.0-G900F to root the phone.
Thanks!
