CM or Malladus - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which would you recommend and why? I am currently running the latest build of CM with Verizon and am thinking about switching to Malladus.
Thanks,

Make a backup and try Malladus. Nobody can tell you what you will like. Its all personal preference.
Personally I like trying all roms out for a few days then settle on the one our two that I enjoyed the most.

If you try Malladus check out Xposed Framework apps. There is one module specific to the G2 and another module called Gravity Box that will add just about every CM feature there is to Malladus. I'm on Verizon as well.

GPE Roms not receiving enough support?

I find it odd that there is not a single GPE Rom with added features or toolkits (like Sense 5 Toolkit for ARHD 22.0 Sense ROM).
Als, none of the GPE ROMs have OTA capabilities. If someone is able to walk me through, I would love to use one of the system dumps or Bigxies stock roms to create an OTA capable GPE ROm. If this is against forum rules, let me know Mods.
Did you look very hard?

One of the best roms in my opinion. There is no ota, but the customazation settings are there with the included gravity box toolkit and the xtheme engine. Check it out.

or you could get the stock gpe rom and get ota....
Probably because we have CM/PA if you want a custom stock Android experience

That would make sense, except that both those roms are having their fair share of camera based issues. I love CM, but cannot stand the mediocre camera performance. I love PA even more, but the camera issues remain.

True, but those AOSP based ones aren't as optimized as the GPe. I would rather take a stable and fast experience over a laggy and customizable experience any day. I love the AOSP ROMs, but the GPe is for those who don't want to be on the bleeding edge.
On a side note, the AOSP support for this device isn't that good either. Compared to my old GS2, there was tons of development going on as far as AOSP goes. That might be due to the fact that TouchWiz was terrible (still is). I am 100% satisfied with my One converted to GPe. Plus, when 4.4 comes out we will get a stable OTA in around 2 weeks (based on previous updates) whereas CM will still be in its unofficial stages by then.
Install the Xposed framework and then gravity box. It brings a lot of customization to GPE.

KitKat rom recommendations

I'm currently running the latest version of Paranoid SaberDroid and I'm loving how stable it is. Also love the way kitkat looks and runs. I just enjoy flashing roms and and testing them out. See what's different and what not ya know?
PSD seems to have the best features from a ton of different roms, but my question is are there any other kitkat roms that I should try out? Any and all suggestions are welcomed, but they must be able to run on the ls980 or spring variant as that is what I have.
While I'm here, the stock camera on this rom SUCKS. Do you guys have any suggestions on a good camera app that I can flash or get from the play store? Camera Awesome looks like a very good app, buy it costs $4.

Try Smasher X Rom....

Hey bro! I have the n900t but use hlte roms as well. I have not found a PA build. I think hlte was originally going to be a legacy device for pa, back in like march or April, but hlte was removed from that legacy list for an unknown reason.
You can, however, use carbon rom which is an aosp ROM with a lot of features. It has many of the pa features, like hover, peek, pie etc. I don't think I've seen a tablet ui setting for it, but I think you should be able to use xposed for that, do you know what that is?

hum, wierd that they removed hlte :s, Yes, I do know what exposed is, and I saw there was some kind of module that were supposed to force tablet ui but since google remover tablet ui from the framework I'm not able to get it, I'm only getting phablet ui which isn't even close to tablet ui hopefully some devs manage to merge the tablet part from earlier versions of android so that all users with at least larger screens could use it xD
Paranoid Android arrived!
Thanks to @encho we now can run Paranoid Android on our Note 3.
It is an alpha version, lacking most if not all PA features. But it is fast and it is Paranoid.

Have fun!!

[Q] I want to go custom, should I go xposed or cm12?

As the question says, I want one or the other, on lollipop. I want it to be stable. Most of the features in gravity box are also in cm12 so it has peaked my interest. What do yall think?

go with stock xposed if you want stable. i am using it and for the few days i have gravity box/xposed everything works like a charm. cm has a higher chance of random reboots, without saying it is not stable (i didn't try it)
Why not just grab a well-crafted ROM instead of those half-assed attempts such as gravitybox and CM?
I'm running Euphoria and it's been pretty much flawless, with a couple xposed modules running as well. A custom ROM installation doesn't necessarily preclude a bit of xposed micromanagement.
Im a quite few day on CM its stable for me atm

there's no such thing as a "well-crafted ROM",it's still AOSP when you rid of all the facelifting and the fancy features. i've no special education for android devices, but i've used well over 20 different ROMs with the same kernel for different devices and all of them looked and felt the same. i never understood why people empathize that only ROMs make the difference.
I see your point and I agree, in fact I was just suggesting to stay away from CM and GravityBox. I wasn't looking for differences between AOSP ROMs as I've tried my fair share as well and even if they're not that different they're always more reliable than a CM eternal-nightly or an ugly xposed patchwork.
I recommend CyanogenMod - more features .
You have custom recovery, no? Make a nandroid, then try both and decide for yourself.

PureNexus vs Android N 7.1 DP

Hi guys,
I'm currently torn between PureNexus and Nougat 7.1. Currently I'm stock, unrooted with bootloader locked. Basically as good as factory piece.
I had made my mind up to flash PureNexus, then I read about Google releasing DP of 7.1 to N6P.
I'm not able to decide on either of these now.
Would there be any noticeable changes from 7.0 to 7.1 or would you go on and flash PureNexus!!!???

I'll tell you the truth,, there is nothing special about PureNexus nougat rom...i Flashed PN, used it for 1 day and went back to stock nougat + franco's kernel.
I found the google apps works better on stock than the AOSP apps on PureNexus.
The "life" of one battery cycle isn't too much different between those two...
About dp 7.1 , I ain't sure that there is some one who can answer your question about it, there is no any specific info about that... all you can do is flash the DP when it'll roll out and than decide - keep it or not.
Best regards,

He means the Google apps run better on stock. In other words the "Gapps" and I noticed it too. Apps don't install as fast from the play store. Don't get me wrong pn is a great rom. I'll probably use it instead of stock some day. But rn. There is too many new updates coming to the Nexus device. One of the main reasons to have a nexus is to have all the latest versions and features earlier. That's wasted with pn. Maybe after 7.1 is on stable and Pn is on a stable version of 7.1 I'll switch. But right now . I'm on 7.1

The AOSP based phone app for example is old compared to google markets one, keeping both make no sense , freeze the AOSP phone app will broke the whole calling "system".
The overall experience on stock apps vs AOSP version is much better, nothing missing, fully functional, if u don't like something you can just disable it with no issues (of freeze with TB)
I never liked the AOSP based Roms, there is always something old and undone... You can bring the same results of battery life of stock , just change kernel, freeze some apps and disable some services and you're ready to go.
The best way to choose is to try them both, than decide what's better for you.

Ahh I see what you mean. Yeah aosp apps tend to be outdated. On PN I flash OpenGapps and get rid of everything AOSP app wise.
