I know there's apps like Blink, Missed Call or HandcentSMS that allows you to customize the LED light colour, depending on what message you recieve.
However, i cant seem to get any of them to work with Froyo. Missed Call even has a warning when you download the app that it does not work in Froyo.
Is there any reason for this? Any way around this?
Which froyo are you using, sense or vanilla?
Handcent works perfectly with the blue led, havent tried any other colours.

the few colors of handcent works for some reason... chompsms does not, Handcent must do it in some weird way
Hmm. Im pretty sure it didn't work for me. Ill try again though.
Also I'm surprised no developer has included led notifications within their roms. Can they?
Handcent blue/orange notifications work on AOSP and HTC 2.2 ROMs for me, including OD (last I tried was 4.0.4). Since SMS is by far my heaviest phone usage, I just set it to blink blue until I see the message.
Having Missed Call LED notifications working would be brilliant though.

Yea i dont know why there's no app that allows you to set an LED for all notificatons. Email, calls etc etc.
If handcent does it for sms, why the hell cant it do it for email? And why only blue?!

Handcent is an sms app, not an email app. Thats why it can't do it for email.
As for the colours; blue, green, amber, pink and light blue, are all available and work with handcent.
I am using Leedroid 2.1 rom for Froyo.
when I receive email, or missed calls my LED flashes green until I clear the notification of said email/missed call.
***edit****
Just tested again to confirm... if my phone is plugged in and charging the notifications will not flash to indicate missed call/email ..... however once I unplug it the green led begins to flash!

handscent just offers the multicolours for SMS...................
I think with default Froyo SMS, Missed Calls, and Email all flashes green. I can't say for sure though. I just know that with Leedroid thats the case, and When I installed Handcent I was able to change the colour of the SMS notification LED.

Oh ok, i just misread your post.
There has to be a way to have these custom led colors built into roms. or an stand alone app that allows you to change the colors for all notifications. It's possible, i just dont know how to do it.

It says my rom is not compatable? i got OpenDesire running..
also, all this seems to do is turn the led's on and off with a button. I want to tie those colours to a message/email etc so that when i get one of them, i see that colour
Come on guys!
have you guys tried "Easy Reminder" from the market?
with that app you can let yourself remind of missed calls/sms and you can edit the led-color..
hope this helps!

what are you bumping for?
you have to switch off stock sms app so that handcent one is in use, i.e stop notifications.
currently only sms colour can be changed using handcent
Has anyone else has experienced this? Seemingly out of nowhere my green notification LED will start blinking. Thinking I have an email/text/missed call I hit the power button only to find no notifications whatsoever. I check my inboxes to make sure nothing new was in there and find nothing. No alarms, no new texts, no emails, no missed calls, nada. It just continues to blink until I reboot the phone. Its not a huge issue but its happened about 5 times in the past week, just wondering if i'm the only one.
mine doesn't do it to that extent, but sometimes if I have just cleared a notification or something it will blink until I put it to sleep and wake it back up.
Huh. Haven't noticed that problem. For what it's worth I use Google Voice so don't use the MMS app and have removed the Voice Mail.
maybe its a hey play with me light? lol ive experienced it but in about 2hr increments of standby

It happens to me when I check a text through the app (handcent) but I don't go to the notification bar at all, it clears because I open it in handcent but it continues to blink until I pull the notification bar down.

Speaking of the Notification bar, does anyone else have an issue of selecting a notification and it takes you to the correct app, but it doesn't close the notification bar?
yeah, i've had that, where the notification bar will stay down after clicking an app. i just roll it back up and the app i selected is no open in the background, so its all good.
and as far as the notification light goes, i wish there was a way to also tap into that orange/red LED as a notification light. I downloaded an app that can control the blinking light and for various things, and if the phone supports it, multiple colors (dunno what phones have a multicolor LED there...) but seems it can only tap into the green LED. Which sucks, cause i'd love to have missed called and voice mails linked to the red light while everything else linked to the green light. maybe once its rooted and custom roms come out that'll be an option.
I've experienced this with Handcent SMS on the rare occasion. There's a certain combo of viewing messages that seem to cause this.
Since you can view messages 3 ways, reply 2 ways, not sure which combo causes it.
To clear it tho, I've always just opened handcent fully and opened up the last message received. That's worked every time for me.
I made the switch to GO SMS. It's a thing of beauty.

I am a bit of a text addict so I notice this happening frequently. Doesn't really bother me but I dont really understand why it happens some times but not others. It happens with GO SMS and stock messaging app for me.

don't get your hopes up. I upgraded from a Hero and it used what seems to be an identical light, it was hardwired to only use green and red, so no matter what software you use it wouldn't matter. Not to say something isn't different with this one, but just be prepared to have your bubble popped as I did the first time I saw those options in cyanogenmod...
This app allows to configure recurrent notifications for each app that is using the standard Android notifications subsystem.
For each app, you can configure the ringtone, vibration, led color, number of repeats and interval of each notification.
Notifications are automatically cancelled if the monitorized app removes the notification.
Also, for each monitorized app you can configure if you like to be notified when a ongoing or clearable notification was created or if the created notification contains a specific text.
This app requires a special permission that needs to be activated after the install (go app settings in order to activate it).
Please, contact if you have troubles or questions.
Market Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.notificationsmanager
Compatibility:
Android 4.3 and higher for the standard notifications controller
Android 4.0 to 4.2 for the legacy notifications controller (based on accessibility permissions)
Thank you, been looking for something like this that actually works for a long time, just downloaded it, and all is working flawlessly at the moment, using the custom notification on my Yahoo email app, I can use what sound I desire now.
Thanks very much, will be upgrading to the paid version very soon.
Just a quick question though, is there anyway to disable the app notification icon in the status bar.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your comments. Appreciate it!
You can disable the statusbar icon clicking settings and checking the "Statusbar icon" preference

Your welcome, I have tried what you suggested to turn off the notification icon, but for some reason it is still visible, not a problem though, it soon disappears after I have read my notification.

Thanks, updated app about an hour ago, still works great, but having selected no icon in the settings, when i get an email, i get no notification sound now, it still works so well i have updated to the paid version of the app.
Again not to worry, it works brilliantly if i have to put up with that icon i will as the icon only pops up when i receive an email, then disappears after i have read it.
Thanks again.

App is nice. Has a lot of potential.
Before bying the pro version:
I have set GMail as the app to work with recurrent notification.
When I set the "Recurrent notification" to silent sound I still hear the sound of the "original notification" as normal. Any workaround ?
Never gave it a chance due to app permissions
I'm worried about the permissions this app wants to be allowed. All text apart from passwords? Still enables it to collect credit card details etc.
Nah ah.
Sorry but I won't be buying this until i can test with more then 1 app (2 would be enough to test good). Also would be nice to be able to change the blinking speed of the led its too fast for my taste.

Sorry, this app uses the standard led API, that refers to the standard phone led. I think standard phone led is the front led. Sorry
This app has no effects in battery life. Service is sleeping all the time except when a notification is started.

You need to set silent also for notification in gmail.
This app develops notification and recurrent notification for any app, but you need to silent the stock notification in order to don't have double notifications.

Explain for permissions
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: In order to receive boot completed at startup and initiate the service
VIBRATE: To allow vibrate
INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required by Google Ads
BILLING: To manage PRO version
READ_PHONE_STATE: Get events when phone call started and ended and silent notifications when in phone call
BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE: (Jelly Bean and Kitkat) To receive notifications and interactuate
BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE: (Ice Cream Sandwich) To receive notifications and interactuate
You refer to a standard Android message that is showed when you enable accessibility permissions to any, but this app is not collecting none, and the Inet access is only used
by the Ads library (by Google). We are not collecting or sharing with none.

Sure. We can add vibration patterns in next release.
Sorry, more than one app is a PRO feature.
I wanted to disable vibration and sound for Viber and also set the LED to purple on my Oppo Find 5, but for some reason it did not do anything.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Have you entered "Notifications Manager" app settings and activated accessibility access or notifications access?
Is needed to activate the app.
Also, you need to disable notifications in Viber and enable notifications for Viber in the Notifications Manager app.
(I assume Viber is generating a statusbar notification when a call)
Thanks

I've tried to use it on galaxy s4 with 4.4.2 and it does work for notification but LED does not work. I've tried with different colors but only use default one.
Any advice?
I cant seem to get this to work with a Nexus 5
It's too bad you can only test it with one app. What if multiple apps cause a conflict somewhere, how would we be able to identify that without purchasing the app? The trial version should be the full product with a time limit of like a week or something. Don't be stingy. =/
I am the developer of Light Manager. It is an app to configure notification LED color and its flashing frequency for different notification types.
I noticed that there are quite a lot of Nexus 5 users are using Light Manager app. Almost comparable to Samsung devices which Light Manager is designed based on. So I would like to make it fully compatible with Nexus 5. One major bug that users reported is the WhatsApp notification LED does not turn off even after notification has been read or cleared. I think it happens to other notification as well.
I don't have a Nexus 5 to test. Could someone willing to help in doing some beta testing? You may PM me or send me an email. I will send you the install apk for beta testing.
Thanks in advanced.

This has to be done at the firmware side instead of application.
Light Manager can support it if manufacturer allows it.

Will custom notifications sounds be implemented in future releases or the donate version?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Sometimes whatsapp notifications keeps blinking even after clearing the notification. It's needed to restart the light manager app.
It would be nice to have a led notification when receiving a call like light flow does.
There is no charging indication too. But I think it's a problem of nexus and not the app.
I keep using this app anyway, I use since a had a galaxy s4.

There's no continuous led when charging.
The s4 behaviour is: when charging, red led continuously, when fully charged green led continuously.
In my recent experience with nexus 5, I can see that, with the stock kernel, it's impossible to have continuous led, only intermittent.
With custom kernels, like Franco or faux, we can see in changelog that there is continuous led implementation.

You can try go to Light Manager > Advanced Settings > Static LED and select option 2. That will give you somehow continuous red LED (In fact it is just 8s on 2s off as reported by other Nexus 5 user).
It's driving me insane that everytime I turn my screen on to lockscreen, my light flow notification titls, shows for half a second and then disappears. If I block the notifications from app settings, lightflow stops working.

The only time I have seen this is with a small number of apps that must have a different way they implement LED notifications. In those apps, I have to disable the LED notification from within that specific app. When I say a small number, for me it is like... 2 of 80 apps or something.
This is my lightflow notification problem..

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you're talking about the persistent notification. Yes, it is something he has had to do in order to support future development on Android 6.0. I believe he is working on a means to give people access to the prior version if they want it, but it would be feature frozen (i.e. no more new features).
Check out this on his site: http://www.reactle.com/2015/10/changes-for-android-6-marshmallow.html
