Hi , I wanted to see if the Root de la Vega method was still compatible with the OTA update Verizon pushed out this morning, or if a new updated version would be coming.
If you have su pro you should be able to preserve root. I was able to.
DO NOT USE DE LA VEGA IF YOU ARE ALREADY ON THE MJ7 UPDATE. ODIN WILL FAIL, AND CHANCES ARE, YOU WILL SOFTBRICK THE DEVICE.

Hi,
I originally had 3.1 on my device with the A500 OTA firmware, it was rooted originally. I then updated to the 7.something 3.2 OTA for the A500. I wanted to downgrade so I tried installing a lower one using the sd card method. Well needless to say it didn't take and the tablet wouldn't boot. So I tried basically all of the roms on the ROM list page. None of them worked except the A501 3.2 version 4.something. This one I can't root either. I'm guessing it isn't possible get root at this point until a root hack becomes available to install clockworkmod?
Also will running a lower version number system for the A501 cause problems on the A500?
Thanks in advance!
If you look at the ROM list page there's now a couple of 3.2 updates for the A500, if you flash one of those you'll at least be back on the correct firmware for your device. Unfortunately I have yet to find any way to either downgrade to 3.1 or to get root on 3.2 ... so for now I think you're stuck on 3.2 without root.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone with better knowledge of such things than I do will have a solution for 3.2 root sometime soon!

Those instructions do not work for downgrading from 3.2 to 3.1 the tablet will be left un-bootable.
You can however use those instructions to upgrade to 3.2 from 3.1
solution
vas sur ce lien, c'est la seule solution pour le moment je crois! :

Merci beaucoup. j'espere que ca functionne avec mon a500.
The 3.2 OTA update uses a different boot loader. If you perform the Acer update, you are stuck and loose root until someone cracks the new boot loader. Who knows how long that will be, but hopefully soon. Once you get root access back, install clockworks and do a full backup before you ever do another update so you can always restore your old ROM if something like that happens again.
It happened to dozens of people on this Forum. I am Glad I read about it before it happened to me. I upgraded to 3.2 by flashing Taboonay 2.1 which used a different boot loader.
Good luck. I hope they crack it soon.
Edit: Actually, someone started a post with instructions on downgrading and getting root back if you already did the OTA update to 3.2. Look at the thread "Root your A500 after 3.2 OTA update and losing root.."
The link provided ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227 ) is successful in downgrading. Thanks once again.
You might want to check this method first. It uses an official Acer 3.0.1 update with an earlier bootloader (compatible with CWM/itsmagic), that you can root.
This is likely less destructive than rebuilding the ROM from scratch using nvflash.
Earlier I received a notification of having a update for my 10.1v
sadly it installed and I got:
3.0.1
base band: P7100BUKE2
Kernel: 2.6.36.3 - [email protected] #1
Compilation: HRI83.BUKE2

Hi David, one quick question, after this update when you turn on the tab do you see a lock under the samsung.
Hola David, una pregunta, después de actualizar te aparece un candado debajo de Samsung al reiniciar.
Thanks!
Another stupid question Is this firmware locked or unlocked?
I have to send the tab for a RMA and I don't have the original firmware, so I installed the P7100BUKC8 one and it prompted me to update to P7100BUKE2, now I only need to know if it is locked or not.
Thanks!
Recently update with a ROM from BRASIL i'm from El Salvador, when a try update with Motorola Software update , my phone appear how VIVO from Brasil, is posilbe get the rom for El Salvador o change in build.prop this information?
there are apps to unlock all market stuff (with changing country i think)
maybe it works...
If you received the brazil update Over The Air, even though you're in El Salvador its likely that the update you received is the official update from Motorola and there isnt a specific ES update. the other option you have is to Root, Unlock and then load a different ROM manually. There are plenty of guides on here that will help you with each step.
I get the rom from other Site, the official 2.3.6 with weptop and root ok, but i have the dude about where i get one rom for my country,

Hey guys! Just bought a Galaxy Note 3 two days ago (formerly used a GS3 that I ran CM on). I don't want to lose the S-Pen functionality so I'm just looking to root. I (unfortunately) have all the latest OTA updates. I'd assume this impacts my ability to root currently (from what I understand I can't flash to an earlier build via Odin?). From what I understand de la Vega doesn't support my current config. A few members mentioned to try VRoot and KingoRoot. I tried both and neither worked (really wished I hadn't, just hearing about the security questions).
So. Is there anyway to currently root with the latest updates (since to my knowledge de la vega, vroot, and kingo all need updates).
Thanks!
UPDATE: I disabled my PC's security suite and ran Kingo as an administrator but still no dice. I tried VRoot again and it worked.

I saw that this afternoon, too. August updates in October.
I got it today too. Lenovo is a bit behind on the times. I guess it's better late than never.
My son got super excited that he was getting 8.1 and I had to let him down easy explaining it was just a security update.

Where do you find the OTA zipfiles?
Will this OTA security update remove root and cause issues with ElementalX kernel?

Definitely yes. It will fail if you're rooted, changed anything in system or have flashed a custom kernel. You have to be totally stock, firmware version NPNS25. 137-93-14.

Mine was rooted and last update -14 was with TWRP flashable. I had to fastboot reflash NPNS25.137-93-10 last full ROM, OTA update to -14 and then to -18. Now have to re-root the phone again.
While rooted I was able to download the blur-version in the cache but could not get the file to move anywhere from there. What's the trick to it?
Would appreciate if someone can make the NPNS25. 137-93-18 zip available somewhere.

You'll have better luck with responses if you post in English (per the forum rules).
What error are you getting when installing the security patch? Can you post a screen shot?
Is this patch getting pushed to your phone OTA, or are you manually installing it?
