Thank you.
Do NOT do this. This method/app has been deemed malicious because it's sending your IMEI to some server over the net.

Hi all... well I just take the risk of a brick and tested using VROOT chinesse version 1.7.1. It worked! my device C5306 Americas LTE rooted successfully. Here the Screenshots:
if you try this method... I'm not responsable of damages to your devices because of triying this, you'ven warned!
Think this will work in any version of 245/254 firmwares. You tell me!
Not to sound like a ****,
but why would you do this if all it takes is 5 extra minutes to flash the other kernel first, and take no risks?
This was posted before and got thread closed and links removed.
Due to issues from some users saying that it compromised the phone security.
Check here and see what a mod said about it....You have been warned

I know that there were some suspicions about sending personal information because of rooting phone via kingo app and theads were closed until all was clear . But I can't find if it was solved and if it is save now to use kingoapp. That's why I ask if anyone knows something more on this. Thanks !

Same here. What is the conclusion? Somebody should inform people.

People are using it. There is no correspondance from them to XDA regarding any changes afaik, so until then, I doubt that it'll be back til XDA have Okayed it.
There has been discussion on the verizon Note 3 forum and a reply from the Kingo guys.
After reading it I took the plunge and now have a rooted mj7 international note 3. Changed all my passwords etc as a precaution but so far so good. Just couldn't handle all the ad's anymore.

I rooted MJ5 with kingo. I did read rumors of kingo sending your IMEI to servers. Before I rooted I asked myself a couple of questions, what can people really do with my IMEI? Yeah sure, somebody can use it to activate a stolen phone. Why do I care? Can that blacklist my phone? As far as I know only the owner can blacklist a phone. Just like only the owner can get it off the blacklist.
So I didn't care and used it. It worked like a charm. I personally think all those malicious rumors were started by XDA developers, that were mad because they couldn't figure out how to do it themselves and the kingo developers wouldn't share how they did it.
I also read a thread were somebody posted the kingo terms and user agreement. The terms states, that no information will be sent anywhere. Now why would they violate their own terms and put themselves in a situation where they can get sued?

Hey all, just wanted to let the community know that the current 'tr.apk' download from Towelroot.com (filesize 103003 bytes, md5 of 59193b68a8a2a9a2e6fc898df81e491b) trips my ClamScan virus scanner. I got impatient trying to get it to download on my phone via Firefox, so I downloaded it via my desktop and emailed it to myself. I happen to run a virus scanner on all incoming mail, and it went crazy with this message:
A virus was found: Andr.Exploit.Ratc

Perhaps that's part of the exploit route, but I'm personally going to hold off on installing this APK until I learn more. If anyone could shed some light on this, that'd be super. I'm EXTREMELY eager to root my S5, and hope to get this straightened out soon!
False positive
Just install it it's fine. "Virus scanners" are a waste of time
Of course it trips it, it's an exploit of a security vulnerability. A virus can be used for good in this case.

It is NOT a false positive.
This is what the AV said it is: Andr.Exploit.Ratc
An Android Exploit.
AV alert on this is totally legit as this vulnerbility could be used by any malware to expolit your system.
Just ignore AV if you know what this code does or if you feel you want to blindly trust it to run on your system.

ok so the main reason It trips the Antivirus stuff is because it is a one click root app lol it is the only way for lots of people I hope you understand. that it is not bad but using a exploit to get root like any other root software.

The guy mentioned in his thread that it will trip anti virus programs lol
This is hilarious!
These things always freak out Anti Virus programs. Of course they do, it exploits a security fault. That's what enables you to root your devices. And security exploits is what Virus Scanners are designed to detect.
My kaspersky is showing the download as HEUR:Exploit.Script.Blocker.U,is this safe

Try it, or ask in the S3 mini forums
Does anyone know if this is legit and fully working?
http://www.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7-root/
And can someone confirm it's not full of spyware etc. I've never heard of them before.
Supposedly Kingoroot & Framaroot are risky to use, so I would wait a bit more for a more "official" way to root it

If I see another kingo root post.... ????

So is the link an advertisement that the Kingo people sponsored? I don't see the ability to comment on that page so if its not legit there's no way to know (except for posts like this in a separate part of the site) which would then beg the question, why was it allowed to be posted?
I have tried this three times on my Verizon Galaxy s7 edge, and it failed all three times. First time it froze at about 20% and the other 2 times it got to 100% but said it failed at the end.
Naw dawg. Wait for the devs to release a legit root method. Stay away from this noise.
But the advantages of Kingroot are plentiful.
According to the OP here on XDA, "KingRoot is an amazing tool for 'lazy people'"
It sends unspecified information from your device to a Chinese server
It roots your device using exploits potentially making it more vulnerable
It makes changes to /system and allows you to make further changes to /system, sometimes putting noobs in really awkward situations that are hard to get out of--they get de-noobified
Edit:
XDA finally took down the link to the Kingroot guide that didn't work:

Dear xda community,
I guess all of you go nuts if the same question comes up again, again and again.
So please dont bann me if I come up with a question about unlocking the motorola bootloader. I promise, i read all about it and i know that currently where is no known way to unlock or root a device with firmware 183.45.15.
Nevertheless, i was digging through the whole web an found something new about the bootloader, but, as i am not a developer, it's hard for me the get a conclusion about what i found. So i want to ask all of you if this could be usefull to get rid of the brain sucking bootloader problem.
As im new to XDA i am not allowed to post links so please search for
bits please bootloader blogspot
Best regards
André

XT907 with kernel date July 2014 or after
can now be unlocked with sunshine app
http://theroot.ninja/download.html
xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487
free to test compatibility, $25 to unlock
I would root with hydrogen peroxide, even though kingroot or temporary root should work too
Hi SD_Shadow,
thank you for your help. I finally managed to root the xt907 with hydrogen peroxide, don't know that went wrong the first time. Also the sunshine app managed to unlock my bootloader so thank you again for this hint Do you know that the sunshine app does to unlock the BL?
Best regards
