I rooted my phone with the update.zip method from here: http://forum.samdroid.net/f49/superuser-su-busybox-i9000-26-06-2010-a-1355/
And I didn't had to wipe the cache. Which method did you use?
the same but you will get it in the Future
How to solve it without wiping:
just go to manage applications in Settings and clear cache or data of "Download Manager" and it works perfectly fine after that. I had that problem and it annoyed me so much until I found that fix.
ive had this issue after updating to the latest official firmware, i did see the option before i restart my phone to clear partition cache... i wonder if this fix my download issues too...

yeah i tried that before and it didnt work... i just reflashed to F7 rom then at the option i chose clear partition cache and also clear all user data etc,
basically the phone booted as it came out of the box...
Market downloads work now...
none of the methods works for me.. :/
I flashed my galaxy s with the fjb for PDA and fj5 Phone I didnt flash the CSC. Everything works great except that the phone refuses to download apps from the market..
first i tryed deleting cash from the download manager, and afterwards i tried rebooting the phone in recovery mode as OP explained.. both methods have been carried out correctly, but none of them worked.. Would the next step be to whipe all data from the phone with option nr 2 in recovery mode ? Or is this simply because i didnt flash csc ?
If someone could please explain what PDA Phone and CSC is it would be nice too.. I'm quite new to android but quite experienced flasher of chips for xbox's, ps's and wii's, so please do get technical

I did not flash firmware. I have original JF4 Firmware. I cannot download any apps after 5 to 10 downloads. 1.7 GB free local phone storage. Only solution is factory data reset. Please help!
what exact error are you getting if the market never connects just says retry.. i got that same error after updating and the only think i could do was a factory reset and that fixed it.
2nd if you are not seeing paid and secure apps.. this is a different issue with the build.prop file in the newer f/w versions not being recognized by the marketplace so it knows you are rooted/hacked and doesnt show them so you cannot get at them and distribute them.. i posted a fix for this and fw/ jf7 search on my name to find it.
hmm i'm in Denmark where we sadly can't even see the paid apps yet.. fuked up.. But i can see all the free apps, but when i try to download it says the app will be downloaded.. And then instead of starting it comes up with the error saying it was unsuccessful..
am i really the only one with this problem.. ???
madfarmer, you may have an IMEI issue, try this:
Go to the phone app and dial *#06# and note the IMEI it reads out here.
Then check the IMEI under the battery, do they match? If they don't this is your issue.
they match.. so i guess it isn't that :/
I have the same problem as madfarmer, and I didn't flash the csc file too. Could reflashing the JFB rom with all the files, so including the csc file help?
Edit: Reflashing the rom with the csc file has helped so far...
Just flashed the phone again with all 3 including CSC and now everything seems to work.. The marketdownloads the apps just fine.. a little ****ed up thing is that there is now a bookstore app with only russian books in it but other than that everything seems perfect..
Looks like you have to flash the csc as well, cos I flashed the 3 files together. As to the russian thing, use adb to remove those apps. Delete the stored web pages, they are all russians too.

so.. Do i need to root the phone to be able to remove the apps.. and do you by any means know what the apk file is called ?
1.click Google Talk
2.Login Google Talk
3.push Home
4.open market
that will be start download
good luk

Since I updated my phone to firmware JPU, people try to ring me and it doesn't show up on my phone, my phone vibrates for like a second but I don't see any notification showing any call coming through, anyone know what the problem could be and how to solve it?

Samr happened to me. The vibrate that occurs is a force close. I wadnt able to find any other soloution for this bu to flash a different firmware.

I hoping someone else has problem, and has a solution, I like this firmware and don't really wanna flash again and have to restore all my apps.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Has no one else had this problem since upgrading?
I have JPU (but in the form of darky's rom v5.2) and the phone rings fine, so I'm not sure if the problem lies in the jpu rom (but maybe it was a bug that darky fixed in the rom, not sure). Unfortunately, I don't know how one would solve this without flashing, but if you are gonna flash, then I really recommend darky's rom, it's one of the best out there atm.
I flashed the low level package with ODIN and phone calls have been fine. Actually asked someone to call me to make sure lol, been a quiet weekend....

I can only guess you have a bad app or you have old settings left from other firmware.
Its nothing wrong with jpu firmware.
**Using my own JPU kernel, z4mod, 339MB Ram and ext2 filesystem**
I hope you are not using setcpu .. i had this kind of problem when using secpu ..
Well I've re-flashed now, and didn't restore system data and everything is great now.
P.S. anyone know how to stop 2 notifications every time I get a message, one comes through Handscent and one through the the standard messaging app.

That sounds like it's something that you have to change with your provider. I am with 3 aus and switched off the option to be sms reminded every missed call and it's unnecessary especially seeing as though the phone has that functionality and if you have voice mail you should be sweet to go. Good luck!

You need to go to the stock samsung Messaging app, then press Menu button to go into Settings, and scroll all the way down to 'Notification Settings' and untick the Notifications option. Now you should only receive it through Handcent only.
My friend had the same problem.
Here is the solution:
1, flash XXJPU
2, do a factory reset and wipe data + cache from recovery menu
3, do not restore system apps from titanium backup, just the 3rd party softwares.
That's all, the phone app will work.
The problem is, the old phone app leaves some cache and other crap and the new phone app doesn't works. That's way the solution is factory reset and wipe data + cache.
I hope it helps you. You do not need to flash again the phone, etc. Just do what I wrote.
Not a FW problem
Hi, this happend to me with XFJP7 FW. It started after I did several things:
1) did fix permissions in CWM
2) tried stock lockscreen (didn't work the several times, but finally worked)
3) restore with TitaniumBackup
I had backup of /system/framework directory, but restoring it didn't help. I ended up with flashing again with selective restore. Didn't try stock lockscreen nor fix permissions yet.
HTH
Mody
Probably same source here which also causes the "No-Vibration-Issue".
In most cases this is being caused by using a Lockscreen-/ Extended Power Menu-/ Circle-Battery-Mod that wasn't originally build and modified especially for your firmware. There's only a limited amount of ressources available for the system.
In some cases they first -seem- to work fine.
But in the backgound they (mostly) disable or block other functions because your new firmware wants to use the same registers or adresses (which the "wrong Mod" uses) for other os-functions.
In the end, I just re-flashed and only restored apps instead of system data + apps and now its working fine. Bingo!
When I receive a call, first the lockscreen shows up on my screen (instantly) for like a second and then it changes and I can answer the call. I have stock android lockscreen and 2.2.1. Do you think I have the same problem as others here or is this a different one?
Hi everybody,
yesterday I updated my I5800 to the latest Froyo firmware I5800XXJPF.
Flashing worked fine with Odin, I had no problems until now.
Calling out was no problem, so I assumed that everything is fine.
But today, I wanted to write some SMS, but it's not working any more. I can enter the phone number and the text, but when I press "send", nothing happens. I only get a black screen and the keyboard. When I want to read the messages I got or wrote, the program crashes: "Sorry, the application Messages (Process com.android.mms) was stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" (translated from german).
After that, I tried to call myself. Result is that my I5800 can't recieve calls any more as well. Either when calling the 3G symbol disappears and the voicemail answers the call, or my galaxy rings for about 1 or 2 seconds and then the voicemail answers as well.
In both cases, I don't get any information about missed calls =/
Did anyone have the same problems? Or any solution to this?
I use Launcher Pro, if that's important.
Thanks for any help,
Philipp
Did you do a hard factory reset from the recovery menu? The one you get when you reboot the phone with home+vol up+vol down+power button.
I had some trouble with SMS updating from I5800XXJPF after flashing with only a factory reset from the settings menu. It's better to do a hard reset and clear cache from the factory menu before flashing.
Another mistake I made before was to try restore messages for SMS with Titanium backup. It's best not to restore anything with Titanium after flashing. An export/import of contacts from a .vcf file seems ok.
Well, can't really help you with this but.. Are you sure flight mode is not on? (stupid I know but..)
Also, try going to Mobile connection settings and then choosing different network operator.
Did you try re-flashing the rom?
Thanks for the responses.
Flight Mode is off, I just checked it. But I indeed did save and backup my sms and apps with titanium backup.
I will try to re-flash it now without titanium backup afterwards. I hope it helps, my galaxy feels much "smoothier" with froyo =)
I re-flashed my phone with the I5800XXJPF firmware, no problems until now =)
everything works fine. i did a factory reset before flashing and did not backup my files with titanium backup.
so problem solved =)
I have a 9505 on 4.4.2 and I got the dreaded camera failed message. So I searched and found that all I needed to do.
Clear camera cache and data
From the home screen go to menu then settings. From settings go to the application manager then swipe twice to the left to choose the all tab. Scroll to the camera and tap it, then tap the force close button, the clear cache button and the clear data button. Note that your preferences and settings may have been deleted when you do this. After you are done with all this, reboot your phone and then check if the camera is working
Failings of the camera may have to do with cached data that has been corrupted. Tapping the force close button will stop the app from running and then clearing the cache and the data will delete the files that are used by the camera when its app is launched and this will also delete any preferences and settings that you have set. This procedure will only affect the camera app.
This didn't work
Factory Reset
If the above procedure doesn’t work, then you should try this out if you cannot live without using your phone’s camera. Before you do anything else though, you may want to make a backup of everything important in your phone before you proceed with this.
First you have to tap the menu button from the home screen. The choose settings and go to the accounts tab. Tap reset then tap factory data reset and then select delete all.
This should delete all of the settings and data that can be reached by Android. There are certain folders and partitions that can’t be deleted by doing this. You can delete those using the procedure next.
This didn't work
Wipe Cache Partition
In case the problem is not solved after this try this procedure.
Turn your phone off. After this, press and hold the volume up, home and power buttons until your phone vibrates. Then let go of the power button but keep on holding the volume up and home buttons until the Android System recovery screen pops up. Press the volume down button to choose the “wipe cache partition” option. Press the power key to select it.
This empties the contents of the cache partition. The files that could not be deleted by doing a factory reset are now deleted. Hopefully this should solve your problem.
This didn't work
So I thought I would send it back to samsung and get it fixed under warranty, problem was I had triped Knox so no warranty.
So I ordered a new camera module as I have read that this fixes the problem ......it didn't, but then I read that there are different modules so I ordered another from a different place this didn't work.
So now I am at a loss as to what to do has anyone got any idea?
Did you try to install a official firmware through odin?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes you should try different firmwares. Maybe it's just a bug in the firmware you are using.

remains to go into service
As others have said, try using odin to flash the latest correct official firmware (not custom rom) for your region/carrier.
If this flashes successfully and you STILL have camera issues, then I think we can safely rule out software problems and say that it's a hardware issue with your handset. If changing the camera module didn't work (and you have the exact same module that your handset started with), then I'd say there is some connection issue elsewhere within the device?
Has the phone ever been water damaged or did you drop it from height?
when you are fitting any new parts, be sure to do it on a clean and clear surface, so as not to get dust inside the device. Ensure that any pins/contacts are clean so that they are making good contact with their corresponding sockets. You can also try using latex gloves or similar, as while working with electronic devices, this will help reduce any static build up to protect against shorts and also reduce dust/dirt intake into the device.
good luck!
I have now tried the very latest ROM I can find XXUFNB9 and I am still getting the same problem. I am really running out of ideas is there any connection on the motherboard that might be lose that I wouldn't touch replacing the camera module?
I have managed to get into a menu that test the camera and there is no voltage for the camera does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?
Hello guys,
I need some help with my Lenovo K4 Note Vibe (3GB RAM version). The thing is it started popping up random "Unfortunately xxxx stopped working" a couple of weeks ago. That specific app would just crash and restart itself. It can be a system app or game or any random thing (GUI, Contacts, Messaging, Angry Bird and other games etc.). It would usually gets solved on by restarting the phone or stopping the app from setting or on it's own.
Now the problem I have is, I gave it a restart and now it just shows "Unfortunately Notification Center Has Stopped". I have two option "Okay" and "Try To Resolve" none of them does anything except the error goes away for a second or two and pops back up. I can not even see the usual "Enter you PIN" screen. Yes I was using Fingerprint so I had to enter the PIN every time I restart the phone. So now basically I'm stuck at startup screen without any options. The phone is alive I can tell, I can feel it vibrate when I call, hear messaging tones (whatsapp/text). If connect it with PC when turned on, I can see a Lenovo Folder option to browse but its empty since it requires the phone to be unlocked first with pin.
The mobile belongs to my sister and she is dentist by profession and have lots of important data including some research she did (photos) for journal she publishes in national magazines.
How do I get past this error ? I do not have root, I tried the recovery but it is a Chinese recovery and does not have an option to wipe catch partition. The phone was on latest version (Marshmallow) and there is nothing I can do to start it up. Tried booting in safe mode but still the same error.
There is an option to see basic details in Chinese recovery, it shows
Model No. A7010a48
Build Time : 2016 12 27 14:35:36 CST
Kernel Ver. 3.18.19+
Android Ver.: 6.0
along with various other details.
How do I save my data ? Can I recover it anyhow ?
1. Try wipe data and factory reset
if not solve
2. Use SP Flash tools to flash stock rom.
If you have unlocked bootloader, then you can try to flash/hotboot into twrp recovery as it shows all files and folders in pc while connected in recovery mode.
Even if the bootloader is locked, there is no harm in trying.

Bootloader is locked. And there was no custom recovery flashed, every recovery flashing method I searched required for data to be wiped and bootloader unlocked so I`m stuck on that front.

Like I mentioned in post, the data is important, I could throw away the hardware I just need data.
I`m looking for a method to wipe catch partition without getting my data erased or to extract data any other way. Please do let me know if anyone have any solution at all, this is really really important.
Enable usb debugging
Use adb pull command to get the data.
Edit: nevermind, saw you can't unlock the phone.
Pretty sure if you flash twrp it will wipe data data partition as soon as you reboot. So I wouldn't do that.
Other option is do a full nandroid backup using adb but the only way you are gonna get that working is if you flash twrp and like I mentioned it's probably not a good idea but I'm not certain.
Another option is mtktools/spflashtool and do a full firmware backup from that, reset the phone and then restore from the backup, but I have no experience in that but it should work in theory.
Do you see the error even when there is incoming call? If not try from InCallUi i.e. when you answer the phone, try to navigate from that such as opening contacts, if there is a chance pull down notification bar and enter into settings. If any of these happen, it will ask to enter your pin and then you can unlock your phone. Now connect your phone to your pc and backup the data you need
If the data you seek are images, google photos should already backup your images to your google photos cloud account. Check this by signing in from your pc.
If they are media from whatsapp, don't worry, it will be backedup daily to your google drive account and all your messages along with your media will be restored after you install whatsapp again.
If they are Docs, then probably they are in gmail account (PROBABLY) you can always search for required ones in gmail.
Any other files from these cannot be restored if they are inaccessiblefrom your phone.
Suggestion: Maintain a cloud account which you feel safe and backup to that account so that you have no need to worry about the important files. **** like these happen every now and then.
Edit : These are gonna work if you checked the online backup or sync in respective app.
