Hi Friends,
I am about to buy the google play edition S4. But it is a but costly. I cant wait for N5 to come with 2-3 weeks of shipping time.
I have a good deal to buy GT-I9505 model unlocked version. Can i flash the GPE roms using Odin without any modifications or should i buy S4 GPE, i want to have the best of Google along with MicroSD and removable battery.
Please let me know. If this has already been answered. Please ignore and delete if necessary.
Best regards,
Lycan.
I'm not 100%, but I don't think you can flash the roms from the i9505g forum onto a i9505. But what you can do, is flash google edition based roms for the i9505 like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348272

no, you have to flash roms for 9505 (and they are not perfect)
if you can buy 9505g or n4 n5
also 9505g has 13gb free, 9505 has 9gb

hey guys i know this one discussed like bizllion times but mine had some personal Questions so i will be glad if you take time and answer them
i decided to buy a new S4 (Or HTC One :\ ) but i can't decide between i9500 or i9505 updated news claim that i9505 has better battery life than i9500
and here there is a better Rom Support and Communication in i9505 Section
and although there isn't any particular difference in benchmarks i9500 gets warm after some gaming
+i9500 officially ship here and i9505 is slightly more expensive than that so does it worth that much or not?!
+ i bought a i9500 for my dad last week and i decided to stick with my one x but after that i saw the s4 and decided to fo for it !
and i have another Q and it's that i rooted i9500 but after that i realised that i can't un-root it ( or could i ?) so i downloaded I9500XXUBMEA_I9500OJVBMEA Rom from SAMMOBILE :
1. is that the latest frimware ?!
2.i should install it via ODIN?
3.will it wipe my internal Storage ?
and also as i said before i can't decide between S4 and ONE so any of you that own them both i will be glad to hear your opinions of them both!:cyclops:
Thanks For your patient and answers !
Sorry but I had to post this here instead of the dedicated GPE forum as I am a newer member and could not post in the development section yet. I have a question about the compatibility of some of the more popular roms with the Google play edition of the S4. I currently own the AT&T variant of the S4 and just purchased the GPE as I am sick of not being able to flash Paranoid on my device due to the locked bootloader. When I purchased the GPE I was under the impression that with the unlocked bootloader I would be able to flash whatever I wanted on the device but from the research that I have done it seems like there is not a lot of support for the GPE and therefore only a few roms out there.
I was trying to find out if it will be difficult to get one of the carrier versions of even PA 3.99 to run on the GPE S4 with minimal changes hopefully just to the update script? Please forgive this post residing here but I have read through all of the threads on the i9505g and haven't really come across good answers. I don't know if I should keep the GPE if there is not a lot of rom support as that is my main reason for purchasing it being that I already have the locked carrier version.
Thanks guys ...
Just in case anyone was in the same situation as me ... I went ahead and flashed the nightly CM 11 for the international version and it worked. I have been using for a day now and have not had any issues. Pretty happy !
Hi everybody! I want to change my phone but my operator propose just the galaxy GT 9506. I read on the galaxy s4 thread that it's difficulte to root this and they are no many rom for this version. My question: can i root the galaxy s4 gt 9506 and put a firmwear from galaxy s4 gt 9505. Thank's for read my thread and to give me an answer.:silly:
Yes you can root.
No, you can't put 9505 ROM into it.
But I suspect, some mod from 9505 or 9500 may work on 9506 (same Android version should have greater chance, as we occasionally using note3 mod on our s4, it probably works as long as don't go too deep into system, like kernel things, what I am talking about is more like theme or something ) and the xposed module may work as well.
If you don't wanna AOSP ROM.
Xposed module should fit you.
I've had 9506 and return back to exchange 9505 and now I found I could get what I want on stock firmware with xposed so I'm little bit of regret actually

Most xposed mods work with S4 I9506.

Thank you for the accuracy of your answer. I hesitated between LG g2 and galaxy S4. My preference goes to the S4 because I already had a S2, S3 therefore the logical consequence was the S4. But the proposed operator by my 9506 model slows a little. Your answer made me decide to order S4 and hopefully not regret my choice. thank you

But beside the lack of AOSP ROM (someone is working on porting CM11) and 3rd part kernel, i9506 really outrun the i9505, specially the GPU part...
But anyway, it's kinda over-performance... as we usually don't need that kinda performance, even for Snapdragon 600.
I think, most ROM part of customization can be achieved by Xposed modules, good luck!
I did not need a lot of customization but I just wish rooter my phone and put a samsung official firmwear to delete all apps from my operator. The choice of S4 is really out of loyalty and passion for samsung. I do not really need the full power of the snapdragon 800, 4G as starts in France and yet I did not receive. So your information is extremely useful to me because I know I just choose the S4 9506, the rooter and remove apps operators. thank you
hi everybody -
i am new to the forum and i would like to know if it is possible to actually put bloatware on a google edition phone. i know this sounds weird but here's the story. i thought i was being a cool boyfriend by buying a google edition s4 for my wife instead of the regular at&t samsung s4 from their site because there would be no bloatware on the google edition. After my wife (who has been used to using the bloatware off s3 and loving some of those things) played with the google edition and absolutely hated that it didn't have any of the samsung features from an actual samsung phone bought from at&t. What i'm wondering is, is there a way to actually put all that bloatware onto a google edition s4 somehow? so that way, the phone will perform and have all the apps and features of an original samsung s4? does it need to be rooted, etc.? any tips and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Joe
The short answer is no, it's not possible. But you could always sell it on ebay and buy a GT-i9500 or GT-i9505 instead to stay off contract, or buy the AT&T phone.
Theoretically, it's possible. Not by direct flashing I9505 firmware. But some cleaned one should be fine because I9505G has less space in system partition.
I'm not sure if partition layouts between I9505G and I9505 are the same (except sizes). If yes, then you can flash CWM/TWRP and then install any custom I9505 TW ROM. If partition layouts are different, then some work will be required.
You need to monitor threads about flashing GE ROMs to normal I9505 device and see what's the difference.
Or find playstore alternatives for the bloat she liked and install those.
Hi everyone,
I recently bought S4 SC-04 model made for Japanese market and I'm having a lot of difficulties finding good ROMS.

Thanks

It is exactly the same device as i9505 with 32gb on board and slightly different camera driver, this is not a big deal stuff to change. I would pay for the latest 4.4.2 CM11 which is stable and working for this device.
Unfortunately the support for CM on S4 not too much
