Suggestion - Nexus apps - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys
I don't know if this alreadys has been made, but i want to suggest to maybe create an index of latest version of apps from different models, that works with the S4.
For example, I really like the launcher in Nexus, and would love if I just had to find an index with the latest version of that. It could become a succes.
Especially apps from the Nexus, would give the thread some mentioning.
But maybe this already has been created?

Android 4.4 kitkat launcher is already availible

Separate sticky thread for maintaining the index for roms, kernels

Guys as the title tells, can someone experienced enough create a sticky thread for listing all the custom roms and kernels that are available for our galaxy s2?
And also regularly updating it when new roms are released. It will be much helpful.
As i dont have enough time regularly im not in a position to do that.
It hasn't happened yet for a good reason - there's still a debate about what can be defined as a custom ROM and what can't.
See the first post in the "Android development" section. Passions run high there.
I find it relatively easy to look at the headlines rom XXX v1.2 .
Any list is going to be meaningless unless it had a full and active update of the actual improvements on that version .
Some roms are not going to fit into any pattern particular Kitchen roms with multiple builds.

Smart Stay for everyone - Also AOKP/CM

Hi everybody,
I just found this gem http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/21/iseeyou-app-keeps-screens-on-using-face-detection/
It is basically an ap that replicates the smartstay feature from samsung stock roms.
So for everybody using AOKP or CM who is missing this, try it out.
[Edit]Here is the direct Link to the pro version and the free version.
To the Mods: I hope this is at the right place. If not, feel free to move this thread to the right place or delete it entirely.

[Q] Different Threads for GPE and normal S5?

This is directed toward the Moderators - Seeing as the Google Play Edition is a different phone than the normal SM-G900V, can we get a different section of threads for each??
I don't post a lot but I spend a lot of time on XDA. I'll try just about anything with my phone, but I am by no means an expert. I currently have the VZW SGS5 (SM-G900V). I am rooted with Super SU Pro installed and working great (SU Binaries updated and Knox Disabled). I have just installed Xposed for the first time and am looking for other things to do with my phone. As soon as SafeStrap or another method is working to install Custom ROMS (TW Based or otherwise) I will most likely do so asap.
Maybe I am not understanding their similarities, but it seems logical to have different threads for these phones so that we don't have to sift through things that pertain to a phone we do not have and possibly even try to install something that is not meant for our phones.

After we get some kind of custom recovery for the retail version like safestrap I would like to see all the DE threads moved to the Verizon Galaxy S 5 Original Android Development section like it's done in the VZW Note 3 development section. It would cut out a lot of confusion as well.

Recommended mod for NOOB wanting Vanilla Android or Google Play Edition on L720T?

I own a Sprint Triband S4 (720T) and I want to run the closest thing I can to Vanilla Android or Google Play Edition.
I would like to eventually run stock ANdroid 5 Lollipop in the future.
Unfortunately, I am a complete NOOB, so I am looking for the easiest, most stable solution.
Can members please post a tutorial or link to a tutorial on how to make these modifications to my L720T ???
Frankly, I'm such a NOOB, I would take any recommendations at all that anyone is willing to give.
Also, are there any CONS or anything I'll lost by leaving the stock ROM ?????
Thanks in advance.
(I did a search for threads with Vanilla and Google Play Edition in their titles before posting)
Flash a Aosp ROM of your choice from the original development section or from the unified builds.

That's the point, I am such a NOOB that I have no idea on how to make a choice or even how to root for that matter.
The only thing I would like is to be as close to Vanilla Android or Google Play Edition as possible.
The "Knock Knock" On/Off feature from the LG G2 would be nice, as well.

best customrom for galaxy s4 no stock

please list sone of the best 2017's custom roms because my s4 already have cyanogen 4.3
Look in the development forums for your model number. The ones still actively updated or used are on the top.

i wanted a list of aosp/aokp opensource not the sammyroms... i want a list of the best supported 2017s roms because is found nothing in the forums lile a list of such roms
So let me get this straight. You expect someone to comb through all the development forums and list for you all the ROMs that are based off AOSP? If that is the case your request is unreasonable, especially when the various development forums in this section have search engines which you can use in order to answer your own question.
I doubt anyone has that kind of time to spare. If you do however, perhaps you could present that list.
