[Q] SuperSU gives me an error - "There is no binary installed" (Android 5.0)
I have just updated my nexus 4 to Andorid L 5.0 and I rooted the device using CF-Autoroot.
I have the SuperSu app but I dont have access to root and when I open it, it says :
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device."
I am quite tired of unlocking my bootloader over and over again.
Is there a flashable zip that can fix this problem ?
Thank you!

Download Supersu beta 2.27 zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
But you need to have a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash it.

you need to flash .img file of modified kernel from chainfire. and yr .zip of supersu will work
SuperSU 2.2.7 will work but CF-Autoroot flashes a modified kernel so you need to flash a stock kernel first then install SuperSU from TWRP. You can leave you bootloader unlocked.
Chainfire has developed a new SuperSu Update zip, Version 2.60 and newer 2.61.
with using this update zip, you will not need a custom kernel for getting root in future, works fine on F, FY Model on Android 5.1.1 (tested).
many, many THX to one of best worldwide developer!
This method will work on many othere phones, please read threads for more infos!

very easy to use:
Install Stock Samsung based FW with stock bootloader etc...
Install latest TWRP
Use TWRP to install latest SuperSU Zip
Attention: If TWRP tells you SuperSU is not installed, and asks you to install it, do not do it, you will break things!
many thanks to developers!!!!!! Great new thing!!!!

Please let me know if you are able to root it. I am wondering if other universal rooting methods work with this phone.
Everything worked fine, you don`t need wondering...it`s Chainfire who developes here! Schould work on all phones (inkluding A VErsion) from Android Lolliopop and higher!

Trust me, I've done it without root. I had xposed installed before with root then I flashed the latest stock rom from n915w8 and flashed xposed right after without wiping data and it worked. I guess it was because the xposed modules were already configured but ultimately, I did not root in order to use xposed. The functionality of xposed is increased if you root. This is from my experience
The latest xposed for Samsung probably has some loop hole I'm unaware of that allows you to install it without root.

the boot-loader is not unlocked for n915a currently, how can we install twrp? or you mean install supersu by odin without twrp?
step 2... Install latest twrp... How can you do that if your phone has never been rooted before?
for my note edge sprint (915p) i used CWM cos twrp didnt work. after flashing supersu said i dont have root access and if i would like to have it. I SELECTED NO. after rebooting once phone booted fine. took a while for supersu to take over things and now its all good

Do you by any chance have the latest twrp (2.8.0.7) in .tar file? I've been lurking around for a while now and I'm not able to find it. I can only find .img and I need Linux to convert it to .tar to be able to Odin. I've lost root and now I can't get it back.

ok now that ive spent more time with it i believe the root i got is incomplete. on many apps supersu dialogue doesnt pop and they dont recognize the phone as rooted. i used titanium backup to try and remove system apps and despite everything going fine the apps didnt go anywhere
UPDATE: problem fixed. I edited the build.prop in /system/ using a build.prop editor and now all my apps are asking for root
In build.prop look for ro.securestorage.support=True and set it to False
Also solves if your phone keeps forgetting the wifi passwords
It works. SM-915F. Just don't forget to off 'reactivation lock' in security tab in androud in order to install TWRP successfuly. Thanks a lot!
No you're right. Twrp is in img format but you can easily convert it to tar using a linux emulator. Took me minutes to convert it to tar. Google "how to convert img to tar. Running twrp fine
Does it work in 915V ??
So,it's strange how the method works on my 915f. For example; Titanium Backup can't remove systems apps. It looks like I have a root, but not fully operated. Any advices?
Does this still trip the knox counter?
I want to root, but I must keep my warranty as this N915F is on my company's name.

Hi guys,
I know how rooting and flashing works but I've been using HTC devices since the nexus one so there are some differences I just want to make sure of. I got my 6P yesterday, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP. I wanted to gain root but Im not sure about flashing the modified boot img and the vendor thing.
My build was K but I got an OTA before unlocking the bootloader which updated to L. Anyway I don't know why I just formatted every thing in TWRP instead of the factory reset and I lost the OS X_X I tried to restore my nandroid with no luck. Anyway I got the factory img (MDB08L) from google dev and flashed used 'flash-all.bat' in the bootloader, the phone is running fine right now but I would like to update to the latest firmware 6.0.1+root since im not getting any OTA.
I would like to install CleanCore(6.0.1), the guide is
-> Flash Bootloader & Radio (as needed)
-> Flash CleanCore
-> Flash Modified Boot (named angler-xxxxxx-boot.zip)
-> Flash SuperSU or SuperSU Beta
-> Flash latest vendor.img (ROM & Vendor builds need to match!)
1. Should I use MMB29M factory img and flash 'flash-all.bat' like I did with the L build for the first step? then I flash new recovery?
-Flashing the rom through the recovery
2. so after I flash the rom I boot into the bootloader and flash the modified boot img with fastboot flash boot boot.img right?
3. then I go back to recovery and flash SU which I should download before.
4. vendor img is flashed in recovery too or fastboot?
Sorry for the hassle I just want to make sure.
One more thing, in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928 at step 9, OP flashes the factroy img files separately (bootloader, radio, etc), is there a problem with using flashall.bat?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my noobish questions.
If you want to keep your data while doing this process, then yes, using the flash-all.bat is a problem. However, if you are fine with reverting back to stock(where you have to activate Android and reinstall all of your apps) then the flash-all.bat file is just fine.
That guide in the thread you linked walks you through how to update without losing data. After doing all of that, you'll just need to install TWRP and SuperSU again(do the latest systemless supersu though)

Thanks for the help.
I have rooted my stock rom and gained root. I also installed exposed so i'll be fine without a custom rom for some time. There has been a report that some cameras aren't working on 6.0.1 with root so I'll wait for a while.
Thanks again

I'm pretty sure those reports are because they used the SuperSU root method that didn't auto patch the boot image(which is the version(or two versions) behind the current version of SuperSU). This is happening because people are updating to 6.0.1, but the patched SuperSU boot image is for 6.0 and the 6.0 boot image conflicts with 6.0.1
As long as you use the latest version of SuperSU then you won't have any trouble with the camera

Hello everyone. I recently installed Pure Nexus Project and the Elemental X Kernel. Left everything Stock while Installing. Flashed SuperSU.zip as last. Never accepted the offer from TWRP to install SuperSU. So, when I install SuperSU off the Playstore, it won't appear in my App-Drawer. If I install the .zip, it won't appear too. And when I would try Systemless Root, I can't find a Rooted Boot.img for PN. What shall I do. Thank you.$
Edit: I'm on the newest Pure Nexus Version, and the newest Kernel Version. TWRP is also up to date.

FIXED: Tried some other SuperSU Versions. 2.76 Worked for me.
I'm on a B09, bootloader unlocked and rooted with SuperSU 2.65 A2017G.
Except from the 2.65 version, is there another one working for the A2017G?
I want to get Xposed and if I do understand I need SuperSU 2.75 or above to get Xposed to work in systemless.
If there isn't another version could you guys help to get Xposed working on my phone?
That would be much appreciated.
EDIT: Well I'm dumb, I assumed Oki's guide only worked on the A2017U variant. Sorry guys :/
If you have the official version of TWRP you should be able to install the latest version of SuperSU.
Yeah I figured it out with the help of Oki's guide.
Thanks for the answer!
I'm having a problem where many apps do not get root unless I manually open SuperSU, which means that most root apps are not working properly because they can't work automatically. Is there another version of SuperSU or TWRP that I can flash to solve this problem?
I'm on A2017U B29 stock, SuperSU 2.79 flashed from TWRP 3.0.2-2

Did you make sure to disable system write protection? Boot into TWRP, open up the terminal emulator, and issue the command: reboot disemmcwp
I'm having a similar problem while flashing superuser. The error happens after the "patching sepolicy" line runs. The error prevents SuperSU from being installed at all. Any suggestions?
You need to flash twrp 3.0.3 or above and flash SuperSU 2.79
Latest SuperSU Causes Endless Loops on the Axon 7
Literally, every time I install the latest version of SuperSU on my axon I get an endless bootloop. These are SuperSU files I get directly from chainfire's website. There must be something im missing, or maybe im downloading the wrong version? Im not sure i was hoping to get some help. I just tried installing: SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.
>> Can anyone point me in the right direction of the latest SuperSU that works with the Axon 7 that doesnt bootloop it.
I remember that the Pixel phones had SuperSUs that were made for it. I am wondering does the same thing apply here?
I have installed everything right on my phone to the T. Everything was brand new stock.
