Hello.
I noticed that on CM is battery drain faster than on stock LG rom. How is this possible if lg rom is bloated?
Has someone bettery battery life with aosp rom, or is LG always better?

It all comes down the the kernel for the most part, in this case, I have seen exceptional battery life with AICP - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494700 -
It's been stellar, and has an unbelievable number of options. It has rebooted on me in a week all of twice, which is way acceptable in my book compared to the bloat and stuff that comes on the LG rom. I love the rom, tons of themes out there on the playstore for 10.2, etc.
I was wondering the same thing, if the battery was going to be better or worse on AOSP.
I've been debating what direction I was going to go with software on my phone AOSP or custom stock
So i tried CM M1 snapshot. Usage was same as with debloated stock LG rom. Sync on, wifi or internet on, some low brightness and some high brightness.
I think that even phone was used more with LG rom, for same period of time LG rom was at 78-80% and CM rom was at 69 %.
As you can see from screenshots, no wakelock on CM.
Second screen is display.
In my experience, lg rom giving me better battery life than cm.
I get 24 hours battery life with 5 hours SOT with LG rom, with cm I only get around 4 SOT
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
It s quite big difference. Hope that future roms and kernels will improve battery compare to stock.

Taking your battery to 69% after 18 hours with an hour screen on time is not an indication of anything other than great battery life for the first 18 HOURS!!
Then you DON'T post screen shots of the LG ROM and just say "I think" it was 10% higher and are upset?
At the rate you're going you'll be at 3 days with three hours screen on [email protected][email protected] - Now THAT was a scientific calculation!!
battery
For awhile i thought CM was better, but running the 11/7 version, it seems to be draining faster than stock
I haven't been particularly happy with my battery drain running AOSP (Cyanogen mod nightly at the moment) which is a pity because other than that it runs great.
What I've been doing is charging my phone up to 100% before going to bed then leaving it idle (connected to wifi) while monitoring it with BBS.
What I've found is it's draining at around 3-6%/hour. The strange thing is BBS shows that my phone is going into deep sleep mode so why the battery drain, possibly powermanagerservice wakelocks?
...
I made second test. Tried to use CM and stock ROM in same way (browsing, fb, some videos, calls, mails) plus I greeniefied some apps and some system apps and with same screen time I have result 84% stock rom for 1:20 screen time and 70% for same screen time in CM M1 snapshot.
On both screen was mostly at 0%, sometimes about 30-40% .
Honestly, can´t find any explanation why CM drains more battery, every post or article just said that it was wakelock or that CM just drains more battery.

Guys, how long is your battery life now? Is it getting better?
I'm on my third cycle of charging after getting it recently. Updating it to 4.3 and rooted it too.
Current, the SOT is about 5 hours and I'm expecting it to be better.
Wifi connected all the day, mostly for browsing and so.
How about you guys? I've read a few with 11 hours SOT. That's amazing!

Funny you say that, my first charge after 4.3 I only got about 5 hours SOT. Since then it's got much better though, I rarely let the tablet get too empty on charge but I tend to use 50% of the charge (according to the battery meter) in about 3.5-4 hours. Ditching Chrome for AOSP browser helped my battery life a fair bit too I noticed.

Yeah, Chrome really hammers the crap out of the CPU. It's got a nice interface and syncing and all, but it's slower, less responsive to touch and uses more power than the AOSP browser...
My battery life is about 5 or 6 hours in 4.3, on stock rom and cyanogenmod :crying:
I went through two charges on 4.3. My battery life was awful, I'd get about 5 hours of SOT at minimal brightness. Flashed back to custom ROM/kernel and I'm back to 9-10 hrs.
Gonna wait for 4.3 to mature before flashing back. Nothing I would use was implemented anyway

My battery life is nice. I with moderate-heavy usage it's surviving from 8-10h . Running Stock Rooted Android 4.3 ROM
I only get about 5 hours too. I'm on stock rooted 4.3 with custom kernel. Thought kernel would help but not much... This sucks!

Smashed my phone's screen back in march and only just got it fixed the other day. One of the first things I did was upgrade to the latest purity ROM, based on 4.4.4.
I am getting terrible battery life, only about 2-2.5 hours screen on time over 12 hours and it's dead - thats mostly on wifi with about 30 mins on spotify. I have google now switched on, but location reporting off. Brightness at 50%. Hellscore kernel.
Is this a known issue or is there something up with my phone??
Thanks.

The nexus 4 is known for its terrible batterie life.
I am on cm11 and matr1x kernel and it runs for about 4 hours with 3 hours screen on time. I am surfing the internet right now, listen to music and doing whatsapp a little bit.
If you have newly flashed your rom, you should let your phone settles for a couple of days. The batterie is always worse after flashing a new rom.

not true. VERY not true. its your own setup that's destroying your battery. battery life is mainly determined by how you yourself use your device, how you ser it up, which apps you use, and very much your data/phone signal. i, personally see 5-5.5h screen on time every day, witjout disabling anything, and on lte. hows that horrible battery life? learn to set up your phone, or change your rom/kernel. the n4 is not known for horrible battery life. and battery life isnt generally worse after flashing a rom. where you get your information from is all based on speculation, not on truth.

I am sorry. It is just, compared to other devices the nexus 4 is rather under the average. I myself am very satisfied with about 4 hours screen on time. I dont know how you could even get 5 and more. So, master, if you would kindly share your wisdom with us, we would be very glad.
But lte and nexus 4? That screams after horrible battery life, but tell me your story.

I'm on L at the moment, was on 444. I've never ever heard of a battery bug in 444. the one thing that will decide the battery life of your device, that you don't have control of, is your data/phone quality. it can make a phone get great battery, or keep it at worse battery life no matter what you do. the quality can make or break battery life. also, I've found that I get much better battery life on lte as opposed to 3G/H+. with H+, I see around 4h sot no matter what, with lte I see around 5h sot. also, screen brightness can make a big
difference. I normally keep my brightness at about 25%. if I raise it to 50%, I'll get about 45 minutes to an hour less in screen on time.
I wanted to start this thread mostly because I haven't found anything like it, but also because I need to know myself
Being the good flashaholic fiend that I am, as well as a monstrous fan of the Open Source, I run between AOSP/CM Roms, and Touchwiz roms for my Note 3.
While I absolutely love the vanillaness of CM/AOSP, what I've found over the last few weeks is that I am getting about 1/2 the battery life I do on a Touchwiz Rom with about the same amount of usage, using Shinto kernel and/or LeanKernel (about the same batter life give or take an hour).
For instance, I'm on a ZeroLemon 10,000Mha battery. With the Rom in my Sig, I can get about 4 days with moderate usage... while on a CM/AOSP rom, I'm lucky at best to get 2 days.
Why is this? Especially because there are a lot more processes running on the TW rom?
What are your opinions?

So... i did find better battery life with CM11... but an AOSP rom is noticably horrid... and still TW roms seem to be better than both.
All tests are using LeanKernel same version... all configured the same in terms of the kernel.
Anyone have any ideas why this is?
Because TW rom are optimized with material and not AOSP who are generics . ...
I think i got a decent setup now for CM11
Tasker to Greenify almoat eberythin on screen off. Pixel Battery Saver on Medium
Underclocked to 1.9Ghz with burst to 2.2Ghz.
300Mhz at screen off.
Looking at 73% battery left with 14.5 hrs off charger and just over 3 hours screen in time. Wifi is always on... and i do about a half hour gaming... 2 hour chromecast thru plex and about 2 hours bluetooth music streaming
Yes... I have a zerolemon
Also, how's performance for you?
I'm running a build of Exodus 5.1 with the boeffla kernel, and I'm getting around 3 hours SOT from 100% to 0% battery. That said, I have it set up in a way where I have zero lag (not using performance governor) and I'm getting 76206 on Antutu. with. I've also got Greenify and Amplify.
Just as a side note, how is your charging? I'm getting around 200mAh in (from my best cable and charger) boosted to around 650mAh using boeffla settings. Isn't that a bit low?
Atleast for me and my OPO, only the original charger and cable gets reconized as AC Charger, everything else i plug in as USB Charge, thats why the chip is force values around 200-650mA.
Boeffla Kernel can show u that, if the app says "Ac Charger" + a mAh value then u'r good, if it's not and just shows only a mAh value instead, the Cabel and Chager are reconzied as USB Charger therefore the IC Power Chip limits the throughput.
Sultanxda's 5.1.1 caf rom. Can easily bit 6-7 hours sot. Stock kernal
Before switching roms you should try wakelock detector and/or better battery stats to see if something is keeping your phone awake and killing your battery.
I don't worry too much about benchmark scores, focus on how your rom runs for everyday usage. Performance is just fine for me, but I don't play any heavy games on my phone though
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Stock ROM and Boeffla Kernel, 6 hours of SOT with a battery friendly configuration (light undervolt, small underclock and balanced governor), but performances are still great with no lags. However with the stock kernel I never went below 5 hours, which is already a great result
used to have 8h SoT on KitKat. any lollipop / MM rom gives me max. 4h.
Darkobas best battery for me. Around 6 hrs. Then Herna's Omni and RaCyan: more than 5hrs.

slimsaber 0r Omni 6.0.x and sultan CM 13 06/12. CM 07/12build all giving 5+ hrs SOT for me.
I got about 5.5hrs on data (mostly LTE) yesterday across about 14-15hrs usage.
Sultanxda CM13 rom. Everything stock. No greenify and amplify and stuff. Turn of keep awake and wake up for google play services.
recently switched back to kitkat after realizind nobody was gonna fix the sitty battery life on 5.x and upwards. Not regretting my decesion. Bear in mind this is a one and a half year old phone that has seen daily usage, almost half of it was on 5.x, waiting for a battery drain fix. When it didn't come, I came back to 4.4.4 and I'm happy to say my battery is still healthy (was a bit worried all those months running a battery draining rom would have strained my battery). Cant tell you anything about charging since im using stock kernel on official CM11S with a stock charger, other than the fact that it charges really fast. Performance is so good that i decided to try and undervold (to 1950~) and im seeing no noticeable difference. Device is nice and snappy. I'd wholeheartedly suggest a switch to kitkat for the time being for anyone that wants to max out battery usage.
Note: These screenshots were taken after only the 2nd battery charge cycle so the battery still isnt calibrated all the way. After a few more charge cycles, i could probably get back to what i was used to on kitkat in terms of battery life: namely 8h screen time.
Darkobas ROM lightning kernel stylo king smartmax profile 1st charge cycle
My phone running on stock COS12.1 and can get around 7-8 hours of SOT with WiFi in 1 day usage. On 2 days usage SOT 5 to 6 hours. But on Mobile Data I getting a 4 to 5 hours of SOT. For charging I using Apple's wall brick from old Ipad and original OPO cable - 0 - 100% in less then 2 hours.
Sultan cm13 nov build. Getting constantly over 5hr sot with LTE. Standby time 12-16hrs.
Disable the wakeup for google play services.
I'm on sultan's 01/01 cm13 build. Currently have 1:43 sot and am at 78%. Was at 92% after upgrading. So that's 7.357 minutes per 1% battery, or 12.26 hours SOT. Wakelocks are not an issue here because this is continuous use on about 30% brightness, wifi and lte on, sync on, Web browsing and YouTube only (no gaming). Completely stock build with no power saving bs. Sultan for president!
TLDR; depending on your useage, 12 hours SOT on cm13 is possible.
4.4 with cm11s
I've never had more than 2 hours SOT with any rom (stock, sultan's caf, exodus, and others), do I have a battery problem?
5,5-6h SoT with Fusionjack's SlimSaber 6.01 which is based on OmniROM Sources. I'm using this ROM without any modifications, like custom kernel or xposed, neither i'm using things like greenify or similar. I've just tuned the power profiles to save battery while screen is off and limited max cpu frequency to 1958MHz to prevent heating. I'm using Facebook+Messenger and WhatsApp, which are by far the biggest battery hoggers and running Google Now with on Tap with GPS at hight accuracy the whole day. So the reached SoT is absolutely nice. Calculatory that would mean, without Facebook, WhatsApp and deactivated GoogleNow and GPS i could easily reach 8h SoT, but i prefer the comfort over the battery life, coz that's why i'm having such a smartphone.
Sultanxda CM12.1 rom w/ the kernel it comes with. With LTE/WiFi mixed use all day, getting 5-ish SOT and 24 hours battery life total. Installed Greenify but have it limited to hibernating 3 apps only. Likely going to fool around with profiles to see if I can squeeze an extra 3-4 hours out of it.

Hi, I'm running the same setup as you, I was just wondering about the level of screen brightness you are using? Is your phone running on full brigthness, 10%, 50%, 70%? And are you using apps like greenify, nap or anything similar?
I'm getting good battery life with your setup but not as good as you. My screen brightness is always set to full and I'm sure that could drain my battery faster. So I'm just curious to about what level of screen brightness everyone is using approximately to get these kind of great screen on times. I'm just super impressed and hats of to you and everyone who achieves this lenght of usage!!

I got best battery with Darkobas, but my best is around 6. It depends on alot of things: your battery, your signal, your usages... I think my battery is old and the signal here is weak. So you can only compare to your battery life with other roms, other kernels...

I definitely understand that and the factors there is. But I was just wondering if those who are receiving 6+ SOT have their screen brightness turned down or if their screen brightness is fully turned up.
I've tried maybe 5-6 nougat roms based on LineageOS along with a few different kernels, and battery life is far worse than on the marshmallow roms I've used (last one was Dirty Unicorns). Unfortunately, I don't any battery stats right now, but I regularly check battery stats on GSam and SOT and stand-by/doze is definitely much worse now compared to the marshmallow roms I've tried. I've played around with different kernel settings etc, but nothings has helped really.
How has battery life been on nougat in your experience? If battery life has improved with nougat in your case, what rom and kernel are you using?

4+hrs of SOT on a 2013 phone is kinda ridiculous, unless you are reading Word files with everything turned off. I cant see anyone averaging that while using reddit, twitter, facebook, youtube, etc. Im a heavy user and i have 3-3.5hrs of SOT.

Na... 4+ hours is normal with location off, running on wifi, underclocked to 1958Mhz, using auto-brightness, a new battery from 2016, and using greenify to kill apps from running in the background. Of course, if I was on LTE watching youtube videos all day my battery wouldn't last as long, but that's not how I use my phone.
3-3.5 hours SOT is still pretty good, especially if you the Facebook app. That app is a notorious battery killer.

4-5 hours SOT here too. Same time with MM but now I'm on the AICP rom for my ls990 using standard kernel and clock speeds. Wifi, BT, and network data is always on. Only mod I'm using is a thermal pad on the SoC. Then again, I'm on my 6th battery so I'm not sure if that makes a diff.
At one time I had Facebook installed and it's messenger app. Together, they dropped my SOT to about 2 hours. Now that's ridiculous and offensive. I only use the Facebook website through the web browser instead, and that restored my SOT to 4-5 again.
