I have the exact same issue. Sprint couldn't do anything about it. they actually tried to downgrade it haha.
Let's pinpoint the issue. What recovery did you initially use? did you by chance play with mf9 firmware files?

well I have been useing TWRP v2.5.0.0 odin used to work before I updated OTA to 4.3 ever after odin gives me an error while tring to flash the mf9 back on the phone. no I did not mess with the files I had to flash mf9 images using odin moble which seemed to work but ever since that my WiFi does not work. it will only work on custom kernals and FW. but both have a problem with calling and any sound. I know the cell raido works becuse TXT work just fine. I tryed reflashing the raido images but no luck. I tryed all sorts of Roms but no luck one rom called "sacs" v8.0 but that one has problems with the TXT messages even. I cleeared every partion with TWRP hopeing this was just a bad or corupt information on the device. with no luck as well

the mf9 has errors because the bootloader(aboot.img) is non-downgradable. What does your baseband version say it is?

yeah I told them it wouldn't work. worst part is they tried to downgrade to mdc for some reason. maybe they just don't have mja yet.
Do this, dial ##786# and view the rtn. does your radio and baseband match?
looking in logs, it says my radio is turned off...

hum I had to use network signal app because calls do not work on my cell phone at all it forecloses the dialer every time I press the send button but it tells me my bootloader is L720VPUEMJA
Raidio/serial L720VPUEMJA / 9225b7d2
so yeah they match this is so odd.
I consider my self an advanced user I am no coder but I know my stuff but I can't understand why this is not working. the radio works because I can send and receive txt and I can use the 3g internet on it but going stock I lose my wifi and the full phone is unstable in stock even txt crashes and then all of the sudden the sound completely stopped working on any FW I install even stock and even a TWRP backup from my phone before I upgraded to 4.3 works but with the same problems no sound no wifi and calling do not work at all..... so it begs the question what is the corporate here ? is it possible the "patch" Samsung did to the radio driver or possibly the new evil boot loader some how. the phone is running CFW 4.3.1 right now
also I just ordered another s4 so this s4 that is not working right I am willing to do anything too now > I am going take everything off of it let TWRP format all the parts of the phone. is there a way to to use odin to copy everything from the mf9 image file but not the boot loader in since it can not downgraded as of yet?

Have you tried flash stock kernel?. I read somewhere to get sound back u need flash stock kernel. Not sure tho. I lost the sound too by flashing mja modem. But I'm still on mf9 bootloader so flashing mf9 modem brought sound back.

Okay sooo.. I rooted my samsung galaxy s4 GT-I9505 awhile back and everything was going great. So I thought it would be a good idea to flash a custom ROM, which didnt go as smoothly as I hoped it would, so the phone had a soft brick which i solved by reflashing the stock ROM.
After some more time I tried to flash a new kernel to overclock, i followed the tutorial exactly but again it didnt want to work, and yet again i had to reflash the stock ROM.
This is when everything started to go wrong because i went to my moms house i downloaded the wrong stock ROM, it booted up but some things wouldnt work
e.g WiFi wouldnt turn on (it just said turning on, and never did), phone calls were buggy (after i entered the number and clicked call the screen would go black, and the notifications bar would flicker).
There may have been more but i dont know. The next day i went back to my fathers and attempted to reflash the correnct stock ROM whick caused the phone to boot up in a mode that said to connect to kies. rooting managed to get the phone to boot but it was the stock ROM that i put on at my moms house.
I then took it to repair shop because i didnt have a clue and he got the correct rom onto it but... the wifi and the calls still wouldnt work!
I dont have a clue what to do. and this is my last resort, if im missing info that you need let me know.
Thanks.
PS sorry for the poor English ^_^

You generally can't take an OTA update with root without fubaring something. Try to flash this file in odin v. 1.85 http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SPH-L720&details=Galaxy_S_4_Sprint
This is stock no root and SHOULD fix your problems.

Same issue!
I'm currently having this same exact problem! I rooted my phone for the first time a few months back and all went very smoothly. I then tried to unroot it to install the update but ended up having to wipe my phone and I somehow deleted the update ZIP file. So I couldn't find any solution to my issue (although, I hadn't really looked into it as much as I'd have like to). But all failed and I ended up speaking with Samsung Tech Support at a Best Buy yesterday. They flashed the update onto my phone for me and all was well until I realized my wifi was no longer working. Whenever I try to push the wifi button it selects but automatically deselects right after. Even when I go into the settings, it's greyed out. I'm in the process of downloading the stock firmware and I am going to flash that and hopefully all will be solved. Will update when I see results!

an FYI to you and everyone else, i ended up doing a factory restore (something I was trying to avoid) and it fixed it... i do not know if there is any other way but it def fixed it for me... good luck
Could anybody tell me how to fix my wifi ? i've been having the exact same problem. how to i do a complete reset/restore?? or is there a fix?
Having an issue with my father-in-law's SGH-I337 S4 (ATT). A few months ago my father-in-law had this S4 "unlocked" in Vietnam to use a local SIM and wifi/data hasn't worked since (calling works and I believe texts were ok too). New to Android but I gather they replaced the baseband or something (baseband was MJ9 while build was MJ6). Wifi toggle would not move at all, and data did not work. Also got a error message after trying to toggle the wifi.
I reflashed using the MK2 TAR (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279). That seemed to get data working and fixed the error but wifi doesn't really work. After first boot/setup, when it asks for wifi network/password, wifi seems to work and shows available wifi networks like expected. I select my network and enter password, then it just hangs for a bit then goes back to the wifi enable screen, with the on/off toggle not green and the area below just says "turning on". Rebooting doesn't change anything. Can't turn on after that. After a hard reset, I am able to do the setup again, but same thing... works to enter password but then never again.
Seems like the options to try are to reflash a kernel or try a 4.3 ROM, but I don't want to take a few steps back after the reflash got the data working again (at least it can be used as a phone again). Also, my main goal is obviously just getting it working like normal, but I also don't want to lose any future flashing because I was rash and did something I shouldn't have.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Your update to NB1 and use towel root method . I had the same problem when i owned this phone . Even after flashing the kerenel modules i still had no wifi . It will only be a problem for you if you are wanting to stay on the MK2 firmware . Just install Nb1 and after installing dont reboot system , reboot into download mode and flash the NB1 kernel modules and reboot . It may take up to 5 minutes to boot . I switched to the tmobile galaxy S4 and then S5 now because the locked bootloader is a pain in the a$$ and you cant install custom kernels as of last time i checked .

Hiii....I am also having the same problem. My phone was unlocked by a guy and everything was working fine then. From next day the i could not turn on WiFi(It would go grayish for some time and then return to normal).I tried searching for it online and found the following soln
1)Reboot and check(Didn't work)
2)Factory Reset:After doing this it worked for that initial scanning but again was back to normal once wifi was switched off
3)Factory reset and installed root browser(my phone is rooted as i was able to install root explorer) and tried renaming the wpa-supplant config file
.This was worked for me for like 4 days.
After that again the problem is back and its even worse. It is immediately turning off as opposed to delay in previous case. When i tried to follow the same procedure the config files are not present.I could not on wifi even after factory reset even once
As i am a new around here detailed help would be appreciated;
My Device Features:
1)Andriod:4.4.2,SGH I337
2)Baseband:I337UCUFNC1
3)kernel Version:3.4.0-1125940

I would flash the nb1 tar file in Odin and see if that fixes the problem. It'll return your device to stock, the sim unlock will remain.

The abbreviations are the different types of recovery software that are generally used. TWRP = Team Win Recovery Project.
Plase take this in the spirit its intended, but if you can't use Towelroot, then you have some reading to do before you plug in anything. Trust me. Knowing all the steps you're going to take beforehand is going to save you a TON of trouble, you'll never be stuck with a brick, and you'll possibly save money.

I am using samsung galaxy tab 2 with CM12 . After installing CM12 i saw that my wifi was not turning on . Whenever i tried turning it on It showed 'error' message . What should i do and how do i fix it ? Help.
i have a sgh-i337 that i was going to downgrade and root via the saferoot method on here. i first downgraded the modem so i would have access to the hidden menu for unlocking purpose, after that the phone wouldnt accept any other flashing. i tried the PIT, stock firmware, stock rom all of these will fail in odin. i have tried to do a emergency firmware restore in kies which also fails.
please tell me theres some option im missing somewhere
You can't down grade firmware on the i337. Try flashing the same firmware version as you had before attempting to down grade in Odin

Good luck
i was on NB1, sorry about the lack of info there.
i finally got it sorted out... well almost.
it turns out that flashing the modem again allowed me to get the phone back into working condition, after which i was able to downgrade to MK2
this worked fine and dandy with one issue remaining, i have no sound what so ever. no notification, music, video, nothing. wont even play music for that matter, says it cant open this type of file "mp3" even pandora wont play.
thanks for the replies.
flashing a stock NB1 fixed the sound issue, guess i will have to wait for someone to root till i mess with it again.
and for anyone interested the unlock method via hidden menu worked for me doing that downgrade/upgrade. im on tmobile

You can't use the ODIN modem files. You can get root on NB1. Follow the guide specifically, then flash the modems from RockRatt's thread through Safestrap.
my galaxy s 4 is running 4.3 since the new update for 4.4.2 came out it tried to install itself but could not I cannot reset or update my phone for some reason I rooted my phone and also install safe strap none of the roms work with safe strap either I cannot install anything on my phone or update I also tried using odin to install the new update but no luck it says fail i unrooted my phone and tried to root it with odin but no luck. The reason I am trying to install a new software on it its because ever since the new update tried to install itself I think it messed with the calling function everytime i receive or send a call I cannot be hear or I cannot hear the other person all speakers work. When I had safestrap on I could do a factory reset and everything would work fine but then it would stop working again I dont think its speaker problems but if anyone can help me with my problem it would be great ><
I also voided my warrante when I tried to install stock firm ware 4.4.2 through odin it gave a binary count 1 and stuff and it said on the dowload mode warrante is void as well when i boot up my phone it says custom I dont know how to get rid of that either

There are custom roms designed to work with Safestrap.
If you want to use the stock rooted rom, you need to use the odin.
Sometime, if there is a conflict between the firmware/bootloader and your modem or between kernel and firmware, there could be problem not getting wifi or call did not work.
Please tell me about your phone.
1. model
2. Baseband
3. Kernel version
3, build number.

You are still on MK2 firmware/bootloader. There must be an error in your software that would prevent you from getting the OTA.
Since you are in MK2 the safestrap version you are using must be 3.71.
You are using the rooted rom so that you see the custom sign every time you boot. I am seeing that sign every time I boot my phone too.
Be patient and let's go step by step.
First try to install the stock MK2 files and see whether you phone works. All the files you need, all the instructions you need to follow, all the options that you can choose can be found here.
I would choose MK2 all in one. Flash it with Odin see the phone is working.
