[Q] Recovery is not seandroid enforcing - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
Today I've tried to flash CWM or TWRP to my Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.
Everything went fine, phone rebooted. After that I've tried to enter the recovery mode and i get a red message on the top left corner:
"Recovery is not seandroid enforcing"
Already made some research on the intenet, and does this mean I have a firmware with Enforcing SELinux, and my bootloader is secured?
In the options there is some information that it tells there is an SELinux & Secure Bootloader. Check the image below.

Is there any way to handle this? Might I should flash another firmware? But which one? I think this is an international model, factory unlocked and I live in Hungary.
Thank you very much for any help!

Recovery is not seandroid enforcing
When u press the 3 buttons (Volume up + home + power) together, the phone will try to load into recovery.
Keep pressing the buttons until the three lines comes out at the top left corner.
When the three lines come out keep pressing the volume up button ONLY and it should load into recovery

If you installed cwm you will be able to do those things. That message will always be there if you have installed a custom recovery or kernel. Also I'm pretty sure you don't have to hold home to get to recovery. Just hold up while turning your phone on, when it turns on you can release power just continue holding up until recovery boots up.

You do not need to press the home button to enter recovery mode or download mode on an i9505. Just power and volume up or down is enough.
Save your home button

I too am getting this message when booting both into recovery and the main system.
Its not preventing me from doing anything as normal though.
It happened when I installed the weekly unstable build 5 of SlimKat.
And it still exists now with the stable build 6.........
what does it actually mean?

if you get your timing right , you can get into recovery or download by pressing power button until it vibrates on, then hold up volume or down depending on where u want to go , for only a second or so ... the more accurate u get the timing the less long u have to hold ... this eliminates the chance of holding the power button down too long & forcing a reboot, or leting go wrong time becuase you dont want it to reboot hehe, and when u do it 100 times in a day, the less stress on ur hands is fantastic

Trouble with entering recovery
Thanks for the thread! Was able to boot into recovery now

thanks very much. had the same problem.

but even so, I ended up booting into stock recovey. but i flashed TWRP before hand in ODIN. I need TWRP to root/flash custom ROM, please help!

Quick question guys, I have a sgh m919 (tmoS4) and I have the latest TWRP installed. My issue is that the phone hangs at the Samsung Galaxy s4 screen before booting. The actual booting with the animation is quickly but before that it hangs for maybe a good 30-35 seconds. Can I get some help?

uncheck auto-reboot in Odin before flashing.

Help me quick
Hello, I have got the same issue but on a Samsung j510fn. I have used the corect TWRP but I cannot enter the Recovery by using neither the combination volume up + home + power or volume up + power
How can I enter the Recovery and later on to boot my mobile device. Yes, the phone is rooted but I cannot enter the lock screen and do the other crap that there is.
Thanks for the help.
Your sincerely, Pikachu

Hey, I've got the same problem and I have a SAMSUNG Galalxy S6 with Android 7.0, it's rooted. I tried to install TWRP but : "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" and my home button is broken ! I need help please !

@darksio01: Thank you for searching before posting. Too many people don't do that. As to "Recovery is not SEAndroid Enforcing", seeing that message is normal. The bootloader is merely telling you that the recovery is in permissive mode, which it has to be in order to flash custom ROMs, and will remain there as long as you have the custom recovery on your device.
If wanting to restore the stock recovery, you should be able to restore the stock recovery using Odin, as I don't believe you need the home button for the key combination. I know my Galaxy S4 the home button isn't required to get into download mode. I would look into getting that home button fixed first, if you can.

Thank you.
Thank you, everybody told me to change : first, my home button and 2 reinstall. You, you gave me the reason for this message "recovery is not seandoid enforcing", i will try to reinstall the TWRP because I think I have installed an incompatible version, Finally, it's impossible to go in Recovery/Download mode without The home key on a Galaxy S6 .
Thank you for your help, good bye !
PS : sorry for the english mistakes, I'm french

[Q] No options in stock recovery - MB525

noob warning!
Problem: I am not able to see any text options in stock recovery mode. Just a yellow exclamation (!) with a green robot in the centre on a black screen. I feel something is wrong here. I am on stock rom (froyo)
Things I have done in the past (in order performed):
1. Rooted using SuperOneClick
2. Overclocked using SetVsel
What I am trying to do:
I am new to android and want to install CM7.2 stable release on my defy.
I wanted to take a backup before proceeding and thats when I discovered the stock recovery problem. I installed 2ndinit( and CWM Recovery 5 with it) and able to boot into custom recovery. Took Nandroid backup.
The big Question
Should I proceed with CM7.2 install or am I about to brick my phone?
How can I fix my stock recovery or will it get fixed after CM7.2 is flashed?
You pressed both the volume keys after the phone turns up??
neo.ank is right, you need to press both Volume keys at the same time for the options to appear.
But, bear in mind that you shouldn't install ROMs in stock recovery, but in the custom one!

I've been here about 6 months but what's wrong with the stock recovery. Just asking I always installed cwm first after an sbf flash. But last time I attempted to flash cm9 in stock recovery for the hell of it and it worked.

Stock recovery checks signatures, and doesn't allow installing anything non-Motorola. If you're lucky and somehow have Android recovery 2e (the one that doesn't check the signatures) - it means you're probably capable of flashing kernels and anything. Otherwise you shouldn't be able to flash anything.
Hey, this is interesting! What sbf did you flash NI55AN?

Thankyou all but my question still remains unanswered
I tried multiple ways of going into stock recovery.
1. Used tools like rom toolbox, rom manager, etc to reboot into recovery
2. Reboot to recovery via adb
3. Used the just the power + vol down to see a menu which gives me 2 options stock or custom recovery.
All methods lead me to the same problem. black screen + yellow ! + green robot
No menu options. The only way to reboot the phone is to remove battery and insert it again. Is it because I missed any step before rooting or installing CWM recovery?
Note: I never tried booting to recovery prior to rooting or installing CWM so I am not aware of what exactly I should expect ...
When you are on the green Droid screen press volume up and down together.
Then you navigate by using the volume keys and select by pressing power button

(?) Help rooting my Galaxy Y

I downloaded the update.zip for my phone using a barcode scanner thing on this website. (This was about 15 minutes ago)
Specifically here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1378660
The update.zip folder was in the download folder but then I moved it to the root of my SD card as instructed. The problem is that when I tried to go to recovery mode to 'root' the phone another thing came out. It was like a warning, something like this:
Warning (!)
Using a custom OS....blah blah blah
press Volume-up to install custom OS
press Volume-down to cancel
So I canceled it and tried to go to recovery again. This warning came out again so I pressed yes because I thought it was part of the rooting process.
Now I'm stuck on this ODIN MODE and don't know what to do.
The screen I'm on say's this:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME : GT-S5360
CUSTOM BIN DOWN : NO(0 counts)
CURRENT BIN : SAMSUNG OFFICIAL

Is it safe to turn it off, It say's not to? Should I hold the power button? Rip off the battery?
EDIT: Nevermind, I turned it off and it's ok now. Thank you.

Now I plan on removing some pre-installed apps (Uno, Ideas, Social Hub (not sure what that's for), Block Breaker, Voice Search, etc....). Do I need to make a 'Backup' of those apps, in case I mess up in something and I need to get the phone fixed, I can put them back where they were and make the hack un-noticable.

Yeah, I accessed the recovery with Vol Up + Power + Home, but only when the phone was booted up fully. He was trying to restore the old ROM in CWM but it gave him error flashing boot image, then he restarted the phone and got the bootloop problem, so theres no way to restart it into HBOOT. I will try your method xsenman, have to wait till sunday so the phone gets here. If anyone has some other tips, I would appreciate it.

May be you bricked your phone. You can try solutions mentioned below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134975
USB-jig FTW
It's not bricked..if you're seeing anything on the screen, it should be recoverable. And even hard bricked phone can be saved with the UnBrickablemod.

Okay heres the thing. Easy Reboot Recovery does nothing, just opens and closes, I guess since it kinda doesn't recognize the USB from the phone. Then I used SGS Rescue Kit, launched OneClick.jar, connected the phone, clicked unsoft brick and it said Sucessful, the phone started showing the Samsung logo, but then nothing happens. Tried Easy Reboot Recovery again, but nothing. Any ideas?
Can you still access download mod ( Volume Key down + Menu + Power ) ?
If yes you can download a stock ROM that includes PIT PDA PHONE CSC and BOOTLOADER files, this page contains links to all theses files :
http://www.androidgen.fr/tutoriel-s...id-gingerbread-2-3-6-odin-article-2110-2.html
Now once you download these files just start Odin and put:
s1_odin_20100512.pit in PIT
CODE_I9000XWJVZ_CL762604_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5 in PDA
MODEM_I9000XXJVT_REV_00_CL1064602.tar.md5 in MODEM
GT-I9000-CSC-HOME-MULTI-OXAJVT.tar.md5 in CSC
APBOOT_I9000XWJVZ_CL762604_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5 in BOOTLOADER

NEXUS 4 stuck during booting X screen? now what? (unrooted+stock)

So today i discovered that my month old Nexus 4 did not want to boot again.
Last night the phone was off, so i assumed the battery was dead, after putting it in the charger and asking it to boot i went to sleep.
when i woke up i was still looking at the multicoloured pulsating X.
since then it keeps getting stuck at the X screen, powering it down will make the phone power up again for no reason.
The phone was running a OTA version of 4.2.2
When powering it on with ON & vol - I get the boot menu, though navigating to the recovery mode resulted in a "No command." line with a red triangle on a android.
Currently i have no experience with either rooting/flashing, neither am i aware if this is the only option to fix this semi bricked phone.
How would i best go about fixing this issue?
Thanks.

Okay. Get back into recovery by holding Vol-/pow.
Then scroll to recovery.
When in recovery reveal the menu by pressing vol+/pow

If your phone is on, power it off.
Press and hold Volume Down, and then press Power until the device turns on (while still pressing Power). You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
Press Volume Down twice to designate Recovery mode.
Press Power to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it.
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press Power to select it.
Note: If at any point during the above steps your phone becomes unresponsive, you can restart it by holding down the power button for several seconds.

Yes.
Would there be a way to backup all data over USB, from the recovery menu?
I have my photos and agenda automatically backed up, but im not sure about my contacts or installed apps.

Contacts are backed up to the google servers. (can check them through GMail). Apps are also backed up to play.google.com... Note, sometimes the data isn't backed up though. Just what you've installed.
I believe a factory reset will NOT erase SDCard though. I could be wrong.
I'd say your out of luck on getting the data off. You can through recovery and ADB I think. I tried searching for the commands but I couldn't find them.

ahw shucks, the Nexus doesnt have any extended storage, it just has 16GB onboard storage, though im not sure if that is somehow a seperate entity or joined in, i looked into ADB but it requires you to have usb debugging set in advance from android.
aaaaaand now i get to also replay all the games since those savegames are gone too.... good times...
And then my phone got bricked....
after it completed the wipe i inserted the SIM card (it was in another phone)
after that the phone turned off, but now it wont respond to the power button....
now what.....
After applying some USB (charger) power and holding the on switch for a long time it finally woke up.
Now i have a blanco phone again.
Thanks for the support anyways
I had the same exact issue with my Nexus 4. When I flashed the stock image it got stuck on the X. I flashed a custom recovery and erased chase and data and it worked just fine.
I'm not sure why this is "necessary" step now when I didn't have to do do this with my Gnex but oh well.

[Q] Bricked? LG E612G

So I have a LG E612G from Chilean company Claro.
I have the bootloader unlocked, and I was using Cyagenmod beta for android 4.3, but the phone has a lot of lag and issues so I decided to go back to stock, so I downloaded the KDZ file and KDZ updater beside all the drivers needed, I have tried with several KDZ:
V20G_00
V20C_00
V20A_00
V10E_00
V10D_downgrade
I have tried using the KDZ updater in DIAG or emergency mode (I just haven't been able to get t he phone to download mode and not to emergency mode), but every time I get the same result, the phone reboot, makes the start sound and the LG logo appears on the screen (with an animation on the border of the "face") and thats all, the animation goes in to a loop and nothing happen even after a while.
I dont't know what else to do, I have followed both unbrick guides that appear here and they aren't working.
I have google the issue and everyone has been able to get their phone working again, I have tried with e612g and e610 kdz to see if that make any difference and nothing.
I don't know if this is important but every time that I have used the KDZ I remove the micro SD from the phone
Please I beg you, help me
P.S: I apologyze for my english as is not my native lenguage

First of all friend, as far as I know nothing can be done to unbrick a phone. If it can be fixed, its not a brick.
Can you get into cwm? (Power + Vol up + home and release power after beep on my phone.)

Now, He is able to boot in "recovery mode", But it's not a custom recovery like he used to have. It boots up in "LG service (Recovery mode)".

@CTuna
You can still try a hard reset..
When the phone is switched off, press and hold the Volume down key + Power key with your left hand.
When the LED on the bottom of the phone lights up, release Volume down key + Power keys and press and hold the Home key (for about 2 seconds) at the same time.
The phone will turn on and perform a factory reset immediately.
Do not operate your phone for at least a minute, while the hard reset is carried out.
You will then be able to switch your phone back on.
Guys, it works, so if you ever came down here (I mean Chile) I will buy you a beer.
It now have android 4.1.2 and everything is working again
Thanks

with a locked bootloader on stock you can boot into download mode/emergency mode and hard reset
