I have an AT&T Galaxy SIV Screen was busted. I grabbed a viable one off of Ebay but a Verizon one I assumed since Verizon's now have a spot for SIM cards this should be a throw the mother board in and good to go. But, I have noticed there is a red cable that the Verizon one has that my AT&T does not. When you flip the phone over on the left side is this cable it looks like it would run from the motherboard down to the bottom small panel. My motherboard does not a space to attach this cable.
Any ideas as to what this cable does and if I need it to run my AT&T phone?

Hi, I got the manual on how to dismantle the Uni. I have a question on how to remove the Coaxial cable (display) on the mainboard. Does it take some force doing it, coz I tried pulling it up and it won't budge. Please help.
Clem
figured it out...mods please close thread.
Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I have exactly the same problem. Can somebody help?
you need to peal back the grey sticky shield and there should be a black tab to pull (there are two plugs on the main board). they should come up fairly easily without much force.
Actually, if you tag on the gray silvery tape, it will pull both connectors loose. But you need to start pulling in the right direction - from the side opposite to the hinge up and towards the hinge.
Replacement coaxial
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement coaxial cable if this one is damaged? Or details for the specs on the one that comes with it. I know they're sold on digikey but i'm not sure of the specs on the default one in my Fuze to be certain of which to pruchase to replace it.

They are not that easy to damage and can be purchased on eBay, but I think we are not talking about Fuze. From my experience, devices with the same form factor as Fuze would have a flex, rather than a cable similar to HTC Universal (which, incidentally, is the device we are discussing on this forum)
hi guys - i foolishly lent my streak to my sister for a while as she had broken her iphone and after a couple of weeks she called me up to say that it wasn't charging and was dead. I figured she'd just done something daft and it would be an easy fix but i got it back today and she's managed to pretty much destroy the pdmi connector (as well as break the rear door catch!) . Phone still works fine as i charged up the battery on the dock and fired it up.
So, is it possible to change the connector or is it soldered to the motherboard? If it's soldered i'm guessing it's a pretty specialist job to get it replaced? Or alternatively, is anybody interested in it for spares? It's in perfect condition as it's always had an invisible shield on it (just removed as it was getting a bit scabby) apart from the connector and rear panel catch....if there is any interest i can pop a thread on the marketplace.
Cheers
Niall
It's soldered. There may be companies which can replace the connector, but I'm not aware of them. You may want to look into replacing the motherboard by purchasing a Streak with a broken screen.
aye, that's what i thought...i've ordered up a connector as it looks like it's the plastic bit that disappeared so maybe be able to refit that from a new one? If not i'll maybe see if a phone repair shop will solder the new one on. Or has anybody got a smashed streak lookin for a new home??
I've ordered a used Galaxy S4 on Ebay and received a cheap clone that i'd never used has my own device. It's one from Mediatek and i was wondering if i can at least use it's lcd/digitizer with a legit S4 i337m because i have one with the screen broken so i would at least not be losing everything on this? If not i'll just ask for a full refund and send it back to the seller.
no you cant the flex cables wont even be the same and i mean flex clabes as they are two different cables when the original s4 only uses one that connects to the logic board. the digitizer es integrated into the lcd screen and the flex is connected directly to the lcd screen on the back. It would have been alot better if you would have bought an lcd display for you model. and if you dont know how to take it apart you could buy one with the bezel for your model number. They sold me an lcd screen for 400 pesos and i replaced the glass using uv glue and it works perfect. and was a cheap fix. maybe you have a friend with a dead logic board and working screen or cracked glass where the lcd digitizer still work you should ask around may be cheaper with money on hand

It depends on if the clone uses a digitizer with the same connections, but most likely not. You could open them up and check if the frames and connections are the same, but each model S4 has the digitizer connections in a slightly different place
Sent from my SGH-I337
So my screen stopped working a few days ago. It went black slowly, from the edges towards the center.
I took it to a repair shop and after they've tried a few screens I have came to a conclusion that some other hardware is faulty, as the current screen is 1000% fine. (Digitizer is functional, and the backlight works because the panel is OT dark when viewed in a dark room.)
I think my flex cable is faulty. What do you think? In this state the phone's not worth more than 100 euros so i don't feel like throwing it away, a flex cable cant be more than 50 euros?
So let me know what do you think

If they tried a few other screens. Then I doubt it is the cable as the new screens would be using a different cable. IT very well could be the connector on the board. I would send it to LG to be sure.

The new screens have a flex cable that is a part of them. Check out the attached picture. The part circled in red is the connector on the "board" (or is there another board inside the phone?) i think is faulty.
EDIT: I've made a mistake, its not the one i circled, the lcd connector port is not next to the charging port. it must be on the left upper side if i recall from youtube videos

Yes that connects the a main board in the phone. I know the new screens have a flex cable but you never said if the screens worked or not.

I'm 1000% sure all screens are functional including the one on the phone right now, because:
When I bought the phone, the original screen was half dead (two vertical lines from top to bottom), so the seller put a new screen. However, it wasn't glued well and it was lifting a bit on the sides.
I went and got a brand new screen, used the phone for 2 days when it went completely black. The brand new screen went black. So i went to the store because i had warranty, and they've put the OLD (the not glued well) screen and it was black as well. And the other ones were black too. I think you see the logic here. It's definitely the connector on that board. Why else would ALL screens be black?

Agreed it seems to be the main board that is having the issue and at tha point you maybe better off buying a new phone as it will be cheaper to replace the g2 then getting a new board.

I dont think it is the board on the screen. Something is wrong with the board on the device that is messing up screens attached to it.

Im gonna go to a repair shop and ask them to put on the board i posted. If it doesn't fix then it's the main board you are refering to. In that case im selling the phone since the main board is like 100 dollars or more
First of all, I have moved on long ago, my production phone is a Nexus 6. So with the N4 gathering dust in a drawer, I decide why not take a chance with it. The N4 was fully functional, but like many others had a partially splintered glass back. Years ago I had bought a replacement back that I never installed. So I thought, why not replace the back and with the back off replace the battery as well.
I made one mistake in the process. I didn't realize the battery had a wire taped to its side that that ended in a gold plug that attaches to a socket on the motherboard. When I removed the battery which was glued down I pulled the wire out of the plug. I then soldered the wire back onto the plug, and at least my voltmeter showed continuity.
One I reassembled battery is ok, wifi works, but no cell service. The phone sees the difference between the SIM being in or out, but no service. The SIM gave service before the surgery, and also does in another phone.
I've taken it apart and put it together a few times, making sure the plug is seated in the socket and the there is continuity between the bit of exposed wire and the plug..
One other thing caught my eye. The old battery has a silver foil backing apparently glued to it. The replacement battery does not. Could there be a shielding issue?
At any rate I thought I would ask for any suggestions. The loss of cell connection is not a tragedy. My plan is to use it to play with different roms while sticking with stock on the N6. for my real use.

This wire is coaxial type and because of the size it's almost impossible to repair it correctly.
I would suggest to buy a new one, form here:

or look on ebay/aliexpress/google/etc. for part number: EAD62290101
