[Q] Update 4.3 Mobile Network error - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, thanks for reading!
A couple of days ago I decided that I wanted to go back to the stock OS for my Nexus 7 (2012), after having the Cyanogenmod installed since I got the tablet. Some basic information:
Nexus 7 3G 32 GB (JWE66Y)
-OS ran/run
-Stock 4.2.2
-Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 (android 4.2.2)
-Stock 4.2.2
-Stock 4.3 (where the fault happens)
-Stock 4.2.2
-Stock 4.3
As you see, I got the tablet with 4.2.2, installed CM. Then I lived happily for months with this until I found out that the 4.2.2 was not clearing the memory (don't hate on me if this is wrong, I am just a simple end-user) and wanted to move back to stock 4.3. This went all OK, I flashed the stock OS downloaded from Google, all went fine. Downloaded the 4.3 updated (as the OS I flashed was 4.2.2) and pooff... Mobile network gone.
Here is what I observe when trying to use the mobile network (3G)
-Top right corner has full bars
-Top right corner has an "H" instead of the "H+" I had in the exact same location of the house.
-When trying to refresh the email, I get the message that I have no internet connection.
-When trying to load a page in Google Chrome (or any other browser) I get:
Unable to connect to the proxy server
Error 130 (net::ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED): Proxy server connection failed.
Things I have tried to fix this:
-Reboot
-Reinstall the OS (first from 4.3 to 4.2.2, then back to 4.3)
-Reflash the "radio-tilapia-1231_0.17.0_1205"
-Reflash the other radio file that includes in the 4.3 version (can't find it right now)
-Reset the APN
-Manually set the APN (after checking my provider for the APN details (Telenor in Norway) (NAME: Telenor Internet APN: telenor PROXY: hypertexttransferprotocol:[slash][slash]mDOTonlineDOTnorwegian)
-Shutdown the device and let it stay like that for 10 minutes (yes, someone said to do that in one of the many forums I have read)
-Different SIM
Thank you in advance, I really hope I am not going to call this device dead.
Regards
Istrul

Figured it out!
For you Googlers like me:
Go into your APN settings (SETTINGS > Wireless & Networks > More... > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names) and change "APN protocol" and "APN roaming protocol" to "IPv4/IPv6".
That should do the trick.
Exactly what it should say if you are Norwegian (copied from Randomher0)
1: If your APN list is empty, make a random APN.
2: Click the menu button and choose "reset to default"
3: This should force the Nexus 7 to download the standard APN settings.
4: Now edit it to look like this:
Name: Telenor Internet
APN: telenor
Proxy: 10.10.10.10
Port: 8080
Username: *leave blank*
Password: *leave blank*
Server: *leave blank*
MMSC: *leave blank*
MMS proxy: *leave blank*
MCC: 242
MNC: 01
Authentication type: *leave blank*
APN type: default, supl
APN protocol: IPv4
APN. Oaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled
Bearer: unspecified

[Q] Bell Mobility Stock ROM or Bell Custom ROM

Hi Guys, I recently flashed my stock bell ROM to This one and I cannot access the internet. I can through wifi but not 3g. I am wondering if there is a ROM out there that will restore it to my previous state. Or if there is one that is custom for us Bell users?
did you check that your APN is good?
how would I check if it is good?
Settings/Wireless & Network/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names
If the Bell APN isn't there, add it.
inet.bell.ca

inet.bell.ca
Click to collapse
if it doesn't work, try pda2.bell.ca
then pda.bell.ca
I've seen them on the web so they might be good.
The APN settings for my phone (Stock bell rom) are as follows:
Code:
Name: Browser
APN: inet.bell.ca
Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80
User name: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: h ttp://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
(note: there should not be a space between the h and the ttp, due to me being a new user XDA won't let me post it as a single word.)
MMS proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 610
Authentication type: none (do not confuse this with not set)
APN typ: internet+mms
Edit: After having just flashed the same ROM the OP mentions, the APN is indeed missing. I added it back with the settings above and my data works again.
Thanks for your replies, I actually ended up copying them from my Vogue settings and they worked flawlessly. But perhaps I will change them for the ones listed above. Thanks again

CM7 No data

I have been struggling to get data with CM7 on my i9000m. I have the proper apn settings inputed and I have also tried this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11490655&postcount=2 to no avale. I am using the JK4 modem and mod version 03122011. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
get into recovery menu and go to mounts and storage and then mount / unmount data..
fixed it for me the other week
10character
Fixed it, it was an APN setting silly me. With Samsung roms you could have the HSPA and MMS settings in one APN. The settings had to be broken out as follows for it to work:
SaskTel 3G+ (Name)
APN: inet.stm.sk.ca
MCC:302
MNC:780
APN type: default
After creating this setting – save the apn
Now, create a new apn setting
Sasktel mms (name)
APN: proxy.stm.sk.ca
Proxy: mig.sasktel.com
Port:80
MMSC: http://mms.sasktel.com
MMS Proxy: mig.sasktel.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 780
APN Type: mms
After creating this setting save the file
Now, the first apn must be selected.

Follow Similar settings to Post #6 EXCEPT use your own values If your having problem with MMS sending/receiving do not create 2 APN in ICS. ICS has the option to combine both wap/mms values into one apn .
An example below on post number 6
I think that may be the carriers problem, phone them up and query your mms set up
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

no carrier end is fine even if they do a refresh on my account its a no go with custom rom .but on stock works flawlessly .
i have tried different radios in the past they didnt seem to work. i will try extracting the radio.img from ruu and flash it with a custom rom i wonder if that will work if radio is the case..
If I were you, I'd go through the RUU and find anything apn related. I know in AOSP ROMs I've seen apns-conf.xml in system/etc. Look for things like that and try copying them over to other ROMs. I would start with something that has a file that matches the name of whatever apn related file you find. Maybe a sense 3.5 ROM?
I don't have a single Sense ROM on my sd card, so I can't look.

just extracted the ruu yeah i was thinking about something like an xml file but dont know where to look could be a rendering issue :/
ok i have extracted the system.img from a nandroid backup since unyaffs gives me Error while dumping state from the ruu...
Neverless i have the contents...
ok now it seems like there is system\customize where all the stuffs are is that posiible that that folder is used to cuztomize a part of them rom with custom settings could someone elaborate .
because the mms settings in there it whole different then what the network provider is using ...strange.
i dont see any apns-conf.xml
Edit after countless hours or searching and going without sleep i got it fixed !
this is what i did instead of having 2 separate Apn use only 1 .For those out there still searching here is the fix
Delete any existing Apns in the list
create a New APN and use the following values.
All the values goes into Mobilicity APN !
The radio will reboot and it will pull the mms automaticaly !
Tested over ICS everything working fine
The settings I ended up using were as follows. Anything not mentioned can be left as default/not set.
Code:
Name: Mobilicity
APN: wap.davewireless.com
Proxy: 10.100.3.4
Port: 8080
MMSC: [url]http://mms.mobilicity.net[/url]
MMS proxy: 10.100.3.4
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 302
MNC: 320
APN type (important): default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4

Thanks for the suggestion but this is still not working for me. I had MMS working fine in CM7 but it won't work on any of the ICS ROMs I've tried. I've tried various APN solutions. I am using a T-Mobile MyTouch 4G on WIND. Currently I am using what I believe is your suggested APN for my provider based on the "Configuration For Non-WIND Devices" document that I can''t post the link to because I am a noob here and external urls are not allowed:
Name: WIND
APN: internet.windmobile.ca
MMSC: http colon slash slash mms.windmobile.ca
MMS Proxy: 74.115.197.70
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 302
MNC: 490
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Do you see a problem here? TIA.

I have tried that with wiping cache and factory wipe (I think that is what is was called). An item of note for anyone else thinking on this I was coming over from Cyanogen 10.2 and order to get MMS to work properly I had to turn off wifi. I have now idea why.... but it worked.
Well, I'm not ultra experienced and all, but have you tried restoring to old radio? MIUI might not be compatible with new radio.
Thanks for the suggestion. However, I was referring to Multi Media Services. Not the radio. I am sorry if I used the wrong abbreviation.

No LTE signal, "No APN settings on this device" on Boost / Cyanogenmod

Recently rooted and currently running cm-12.1-20150913-Nightly-kltespr on a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone that is on Boost. Ever since flashing Cyanogenmod I DO NOT have any LTE signal. If I change "Preferred Network Type" to LTE (recommended) I do not get any data/internet signal at all. Everything works fine EXCEPT LTE and Multimedia messages. Plain MMS works fine but when there is multimedia attached the message "No APN settings on this device" stays on my screen and will not go away unless I delete the message with the multimedia in it and reboot the device. Also although I am on Boost, the rom shows me as Sprint on the top left of my screen.
I have been researching for the past few days and see this is a common problem, at first I thought I had the wrong baseband version and flashed G900PVPU1BOA6 thinking that would fix it because that was the baseband I had prior to flashing Cyanogenmod, after flashing Cyanogenmod I had baseband version G900PVPU30BG1. That was not the issue as everything seems to work the same as it did with the previous baseband version.
I did the remove sim car, restore to default APN settings and that didnt work.
I also downloaded Root Tweaker from the Play store and updated Cyanogenmod APN settings and that didnt work either.
I tried to flash back to stock so that I can update my PRL, get LTE and try the terminal emulator method BUT I am unable to flash back to a stock rom. I dont understand why. Maybe the downloads I am trying are no good, not sure. BUT I know there has got to be an easier way, so if anybody can help me out I would really appreciate it. I'm pretty sure its all with the APN settings. I also feel like I maybe took a step back by flashing my old baseband version. Any help from somebody that can point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Surely somebody has the S5 running on Cyanogenmod with LTE working.
Carrier : Boost (Showing as Sprint on home screen)
Model : SM-G900P (Samsung Galaxy S5 Boost)
Recovery : Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.7.0
Rom : Cyanogenmod 12.1-20150913-Nightly-kltespr
Android Version : 5.1.1
Baseband Version : G900PVPU1BOA6
Kernel Version : 3.4.0-cyangenmod-g951e2ff [email protected] #1
Thank you for using XDA Assist. I am going to move your thread to the Galaxy S5 Q&A forum so hopefully someone there will be able to help. Good luck!

I found the APN settings and have LTE and Multimedia Texts working, figured I would post them in case anybody else has the same issue.
