[Q] Rooting Questions & Couple Others

Hello,
I just got my G2 two days back it's my first LG phone I'm used to HTC & Sony. I read in Rooting thread that LG has some application that would monitor if the phone is rooted or not. Another way is through ADB but I guess we can't have the root permission for application. Is there a way to bypass it? If I root, will flashing the original firmware unroot the phone? Then when we flash the original firmware will it restore the original recovery?
Use this to root your G2.

It's so easy any child could do it. If you ever want to go stock again that's easy to. Root and custom recovery wilk be removed of course if you flash stock LG firmware to your device. Thread about it in general section.

Thank you. What about the setting that check if it's rooted or not? Does this method trip that setting?

yes, it trips rootchecker ,which is unique to LG devices and (so far) is irreversible, even if you restore a .kdz with flashtool, it will still so ROOTED in download mode

[Q] Can rooted be updated to kitkat stock?

I'm planning to root my LG G2 D802 and use a custom rom to have a kitkat experience. but before rooting my phone, i want to know if is it still possible to update my phone to the ORIGINAL KitKat update using the OTA update by LG or i will be stocked to the custom rom once i rooted my phone?
Once you put a custom recovery on it in order to install a custom ROM, you can no longer take an OTA update. Odds are very good that the stock ROM, once out, will be available to install the same way you install a custom ROM, but OTA's are out once you have a custom recovery.
Sure it can be done, you just need to restore tour phone to stock firmware.

you can use the update tool your phone has the installer for,
you connect your phone to the pc and it says connected as installer,
install the program and update with it, it uses download, bypassing the recovery

Trying to restore ATT Stock

So, a while back I installed the KitKit ROM for ATT before any custom ones were out.
I'm trying to flash the stock back onto my device with LG Flash Tool but it keeps telling me I have the wrong device for the .tot file and .dll file. It seems like my D800 is recognized as a D802 international G2. How can I fix this?
In settings > about phone it shows it as D800, but under software it shows D80220a. I also tried to install a custom recovery but that didn't work out. Gave me a certificate error.

it sounds like you have a custom rom like poweruser anyways if your device is d800 but shows d802 then you can try the dll in the poweruser thread which ignores model check for d800 only

Thanks so much!
So after I do this, and want to install a KitKat Rom such as : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728703
what are the proper steps?
do I have to update to KitKat somehow again? Or can I just root / install custom recovery and flash and be good to go?

Yup install official att stock rom then acheive root using ioroot25 or ioroot23 after that install Autorec(by cloudyf) this will adjust your bootloader and install a custom recovery. after that install any custom rom you want.

Let it be known that I did NOT install the official stock KitKat ROM it was the other one,4.2.2. Will AutoRec still work?
EDIT: Scratch that, all went smoothly. Thanks!!!

Don't say it's universal that's false information, it's only for d800 and all it does is ignore the model check

I know its for D800, what I meant is whatever version his phone got changed to, this DLL will bypass model check; therefore allowing him to flash back the ATT stock. Maybe I should have worded differently.

[Q] Secure boot, 4.4.2 & recovery

Hello everybody, i made some search on the forum but i didn't find the answer to my question, so i ask it here.
I'm actually on 4.4.2 stock rom, i'm rooted (it's not a pre-rooted 4.4.2 but i rooted it after with some weirds methods) anyway, i don't have recovery and when i try to access it i get a secure boot error, it's ok because i can boot on the desktop..
I want to know how can i get a 4.4.2 version rooted & with a recovery mode like twrp. Does i need to install a 4.4.2 stock pre-rooted with the recovery mode pre-installed ? If yes, how can i do this ?
I also received an lg update on my phone and at the send of the installations i got this message "Your device seems to be rooted, you can't update it".
Thank your for the help

Once you get the rooted flag while trying a software update the only way to get rid of it is by goofing back yo stock, also now that you have custom recovery if you try to it you will bootloop/soft brick
