*Guys I felt the phone was buttery smooth, but on certain occasions I.e. lock screen ripple transition into opening your home screen and toggling between messages in the messaging app, the transition would s stutter just a tiny bit. Problem is solved if you go into:1. Settings-> developer options-> and Window animation scale and Transition Animation scale -> change both of those to 0.5x (or 0 for both, for instant reactions). The phone now runs like the beast it was born to be. Try it and let make know your thoughts. Please hit the thanks button if this helps you. Regards, Nik

Thanks for the tip. it definitely made a differnce. I went one step further, and turned off animations completely and it seems even better.
Great! !! Smooth as silk

Just tried this and unless I'm losing my mind, sure enough it did make the phone more responsive and animations faster. Just hope battery doesn't suffer as a result!
Yep, things do seem to be smoother, thanks OP!
Holy crap, it was like the animations where holding it back.. The multitasking menu appear instantly now! This should be default, thanks!

This needs to go into a sticky on best GS3 tips.
Excellent suggestion. Thanks.

Awesome suggestion, thanks!!! Works like a charm.
I hate animations. Since S1, S2 and now S3 the first thing I do is switch them off completely.

After further testing, anyone else find the battery slightly worse with 0 5x compared to the default 1.0x? Changed on both transitions and window that is.
Oy downside to this unless I'm imagining it.
Just checked and mine were both set at .5 by default. (Orange UK)

You are imagining it, how could LESS animations cause MORE battery drain.
In theory it could even save battery.
(Something around 0.00000000001%)
Less animations, less to be processed and rendered etc. + Snappier user experience = full of win.

0.5x = faster animations and not lesser animations, so it may affect the battery. but who cares, it should be negligble. all we need is a snappier phone at the end of the day.:good:

Change them to 5x and then tell me that 0.5x would use more battery than that.
Seriously.
Faster (less elaborate) animation means less battery.....
By your logic no animations would be a battery hog.

as i said i dont mind battery life as changing the animation scale is not going to have any big effect on battery life. turning off the animation will surely improve the battery life but without animation the mobile will look worse.
you are wrong about faster animations = lesser battery.(may be im wrong here too) if 1x animation is done at 0.5x time it takes higher resources. the animation is same but the time is reduced by half.
btw we can discuss things with some cool head here
@op
nice find mate
thx for this hint :good:

Screen transitions..

Hi I was wondering if any of you guys have the same problem.. I'm just on a stock rooted 4.1.1 ROM and everything is good and fast but, one thing i noticed is that when scrolling from left to right on the drawer or home screen sometimes it would be snappy but at times it would have a slow transition (although smooth) it would take its time going into place.. not sure how else to explain it. (Kinda like the elastic band effect but slow at coming back)
Is there a way to fix this?

Touch screen freaking out??

So once in a while my touchscreen will freak out. If I am scrolling through a news feed it will randomly open one or if I am flipping through my home screens it will open an app when scrolling. Anyone else having these issues? The only way to fix it is to reboot.

Animation bug?

Found something wierd with developer options on this build. Not sure if I should post this in q&a or here, but general gets more traffic so.
Anyways I always disable animations fully when I turn on dev options. I have noticed that they do not stay set. The middle option, switches back to one. Not after a reboot, just at some point during sleep or maybe when a certain app or routine gets run. Not sure. Might be a setting that I have on interfering with my settings. Anyone else notice this?
I will probably reset and go through the setup again bit by bit to see what's causing this. Very noticeable when normally nothing but quickness happens between apps, then the stock animations start showing up randomly. Thx

I have the Sprint variant and I never noticed this until you pointed it out but yep, happens on the N900P as well.

So it is a bug! Definitely going to reset and setup bit by bit and see what does this. I also have a pebble. Do u by any chance? Forgot to mention that in the op, but who knows.

I do not own a Pebble, no.
I noticed the same thing, it happens to me mostly when I use the camera...I'm tracking to see what other apps cause it...if any

I set them all to .5 and they stick. Still see animations, but they are very quick. Also turn everything to "fast" in Nova launcher.

I tried that too, that's how I figured out the camera was causing it to switch back to 1x....

Cool, Def seems to be the culprit. Happened immediately after I opened camera too. Haven't seen anything else that I might be yet, but it might just be the cam. Thx

Has anyone found a workaround for this issue? anywhere? Verizons latest update fixed the call quality issue but the transition animation bug is still there...
No but the camera is the only thing that makes happen on mine too. On the update too. It's obviously a back burner issue. Hasent been too big of a deal for me, but I would love to see it solved.

Weird issues

Hello everyone. Had my Note 3 for about a week now and I love it. A couple of things I've noticed and wonder if anyone else has this. I like to disable the animations in Developer Options so the phone feels more fluid. But for some reason the transition animations wont stay off. They always go back to 1. Second question. Just recently my 4Glte icon doesn't hide like it used to. It now sits next to my wifi icon for no real reason. Anyone else?

Was also confirmed by a lot of peeps here in xda including me of the transition animation bug
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 4
Ok that's good that it's not just me. So what about my 4Glte icon always being visible all of a sudden? Just some random bug?
