Anyone figure out a way to make the Wi-Fi refresh rate a longer time? Having the phone alert me every few seconds that I'm near a Wi-Fi signal is annoying. Thanks.

Hi everyone.
I have a problem with my Nexus 7: the wifi connection speed drops when the screen turns off and the tablet goes into standby mode. The connection is not dropped. I noticed this while downloading some Humble Bundle games.
I have set the connection to stay on during standby.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Most folks seem to set the display timeout to 30 minutes for big downloads. And touch the screen every 20 minutes or so to keep it awake.

Isnt it because n7 runs on that tiny lil core when screen is turned off? Thus it drops the speed in order to save battery?

Hey this has been bugging me all day.
My network switches from 3G to H every few seconds almost even if I not moving. Is there a way to just pick it to one?

Don't blame me if you screw something up but goto your phone app and dial *#*#4636#*#* and begin to tinker.

Sounds like Fast Dormancy. It switches back and forth to save battery when there is no data use.
Suggest you do some reading on it!

It will change to H when using data, otherwise it will remain on 3G when idle. Mine also switches between the two regularly. I wouldn't worry about it.
Not sure what has been up lately, but my M has been struggling to maintain a wifi signal here at home. My old Droid Pro has full signal as does my Kindle Fire, but for the last week or 2 my M has been struggling to get the wifi signal and when it does, it's not full bars. About 1-2 bars when all my other devices have full wifi bars. Even when I am 3 feet from the modem (fios) . I've restarted the phone a couple times, but same issue. Where am I going wrong here?

Check your settings. Maybe if you choose the specific frequency for FiOS and toggle the weak connection command; that may help. Do you have any smart actions or battery saver that may be trying to optimize your WiFi radio for battery management?

Great suggestions! I did more research today and did specify which channel to broadcast on for the modem.. It may have helped a bit. As for smart actions, I do indeed have those running but only for battery level below 15 percent or specific overnight hours. I will look more into the router settings and report back my findings. Thanks for the help!

I recently bought my wife a nexus 4 abs she's been having a problem where when she disconnects from wifi her mobile network won't connect, it says 4g but it's greyed out. I know she should still have connection but she doesn't, everything just times out. Only thing that fixed it was a reboot, anyone else experience this issue? And she's on stock rom, not rooted.

No worries it'll reconnect to the servers.

This only happens to me when my WiFi connection decides to disconnect! Both my Service and WiFi gray out when my WiFi does not work. I have a terrible at&t internet service! But other than that it works properly.

Does it just never turn blue after turning off wifi? Its supposed to turn off mobile data when wifi is on to save battery. It could just be an issue with your carrier
Well like I said a reboot does fix it, from what I understand it's just when disconnecting from wifi. The time interval was about 10 minutes and her mobile data still wasn't connected. We're on tmobile btw. I thought it might just be an n4 issue, I don't experience that issue on my one.

I haven't had 4g in the past 5 days where I normally do have 4g. I do get it once I reboot the phone but after a couple minutes its back to 3g until I reboot again. Right now I'm using advanced signal status to force and keep me on 4g but I can't make calls. I'm in a strong 4g area. Anyone know of a fix?
