I just got my G2 from Verizon Yesterday and I just not noticed when I set it on the table and look at an angle it has a yellow tint. Is that normal? When I'm using it it looks normal but at the angle it is quite yellow asif I was using Fl.ux.
Screen is polarized. Use it with polarized sunglasses and check color...

light yellow spots below the screen, yellowish white its normal?
almost imperceptible.
only with white background.
want to know too.
Do you mean that your whites have a yellow tint to them?
Mine doesn't, white just looks white to me, have you checked your brightness settings, I'm sure that the lower the brightness the 'creamier' the whites might look.
The bottom of the screen is indeed a bit yellowish, just the lower 0.5cm. I have it on my white X10 and my two friends have it on their black Xperias too. It's only noticeable when the screen is completely white.
The bottom of my screen isn't yellow, but I can see a little bit of backlight leakage. Fortunately only when the screen is white, and most of the time a menu or other buttons cover it.
Mine isn't yellow either... white as a snowy day
white here to even when the screen is completly white. in other words its not suppost to be yellow

My display had purple tint and I changed the phone today and got a new one. Its better now and significany less pink color.
Also I now discovered something that the pink tint is only visible when u look at the screen 90 degrees. If u tilt the phone a little (5-10 degrees) to left-right or up-down and view like that the color turns normal (like my year old sgs).
It made me realise that this is a screen coating issue (maybe coating causes polarisation). So do u think this will go away with the time of use?
When I turn off the screen and check it under light by tilting I can see a little purple glare.
What do u think?
Do you have this on your phones?
My sgs, when the screen is off if you look the screen under light has a bluish color/glare.
However sgs2 when I look under light, screen turned off has a purple glare.

he didn't need to taken it off
mine was without screen protector and there was purple glare on screen
now I'm really happy because it's not just me who has this purple glare on screen
this does not matter I like this phone
I find the problem when it is directly under bright light only...even when bright sunlight, it doesn't give me the glare...so it is not really a problem, I don't have a bright light in my room lol
Purple glare is not a problem but it causes phone to display purplish whites and greys when the screen brightness at low. At night, If I look 90 degrees to phone whites are creamy greys have a pink hue however when I view the screen from a little different angle (if i tilt like 5 degrees) whites are cool and greys are perfect.
Well maybe my sgs has a blue tint and cool colors that's why I feel a huge difference. Cuz when I compared my iPod touch 2nd Gen. IPod's color is more pinkish tthan my sgs2.
I don't have screen protector yet but I was hoping putting one would fix that purplish tint issue. So it doesn't.

exactly I have the same issue, and I don't think the screen protector will fix it
I find a green elephant appears after the second bottle of whiskey.

OK. They are awesome but do you have anything to say about the issue that I am having? If u share with us will be appreciated. I wanna know if there are perfect screens wwithout this issue or all phones have?
I meant that I do not see any tint on my screen.
I have a Bell version, made in China.
The only thing that is bothering me is grease fingerprints marks.
Otherwise this is the best screen on market right now.

I have bell too. Where did you get your phone? I would like to go to the store that u bought to compare mine. Phones in the store that i got mine all have the same issue. This is my 3rd phone from the same store and they are already sick of me going there to change everyday. Maybe it's a batch problem. Are u in Toronto? If u are could u tell me the store name?
I've bought it in the TBooth in Eaton center
I checked all the phones in eaton center and they all have different screens. Mostly they have yellowish tint. One phone in future shop was worst than mine(purple)
One of the 6 display phones in bell had a perfect screen. Which made me hesitate about changing my phone. What are the odds to get a perfect screen?
The phones which have yellow tint their colors look pale to me. Only problem is mine, certain grays look purplish. Such as the status bar buttons. In a dark room with 0 brightness they have a purple tint.
when I tilt the phone that purplish color goes away.
What color the pull down status bar buttons should look like? What is your color?
Dude there are always will be some imperfection in any device.
Stop nitpicking, enjoy your phone.
Did you guys notice a somewhat big colour shift when you tilt the screen on Galaxy S4? e.g. a white background turns blue, and an orange colour turns yellow when i tilt the device at just 40 degree in all sides.
I've tried playing around with the autobrightness and screen mode, which does not make any difference.

Just found out at the mall all Galaxy S4's screens do this. So it's by design.
I find this except I start with yellow, not white!

Have noticed that the left hand side of my screen is slightly lighter than the right. I notice it mostly on a solid dark blank screen. Almost looks like led light bleed.

when I look at my Nexus 6P directly it is white, but when tilting it has a blue tint.
Is this common in AMOLED displays or is it a defect.
Normal.
Yes that is normal. But if you had said it was blue directly looking at it and turned white at an angle, then it would be a defect.

It is very noticeable in white pages tilting it a little causes faint blue.
Compared the device to a nexus 6 mine has little blue when tilting a little like 10-15 degrees the nexus 6 doesn't why?
Very little viewing angle change turns whites into light blue
I have a nexus 6p and it drives me crazy with its color shifting, for a very little viewing angle change it turns all whites into blue and the more i turn it it goes into a rainbow effect. According to the people of internet an amoled panel should have great, nevertheless better viewing angles than a lcd panel. Well i have to say thats not the case now, i have a oneplusone to compare the two to eachother and the oneplusone has basicly no change of whites other than it gets a little bit darker but it does not rainbows out whatsoever. But on the other hand the nexus 6p for the smallest change from straight can change its white color. Very annoying.
Is there any solution for that, or it is what it is, and take it or leave it?
Anybody might has a solution for that?
It is what it is: third one arrived today and still not the best whites but it is the better of the three. The build date on mine is 11/3.

Honestly it doesn't bother me because I always look at directly. If you really want to go postal, tilt it almost at 180 degree then you'll start to see rainbows. What bugs me is that even on direct facing, mine doesn't have even whites. Bottom is more green and top is more pink. But that's another topic on this forum.
It shouldn't be normal. Viewing angles are supposed to improve as tech improves. You wouldn't accept viewing angles like this from an oled tv.
My Samsung galaxy s3 had amoled screen and didn't suffer from this. And that was when amoled tech was way behind what it should be now.
Is this really normal for all 6P users? I think my phone didn't have that blue tint until I accidentally turned on "Picture Mode: RGB" under developer options. Now it doesn't matter if I turn it off or on again. The blue tint is seen each time I don't look straight at the phone. I even did a hard reset just to be sure. Did that accident really break the viewing angle or is it just my imagination?
My older Nexus 5 doesn't have that issue. The blue tint isn't seen when looking from all angles.
Apparently that's normal for Amoled screens.

I've gone through a few Nexus 6P devices and all have been very similar and all of them have this issue. I would agree that all AMOLEDs have a similar issue however the Nexus 6P has a very narrow band of vertical visibility. I am either very susceptible to this and/or I use my phone at a slight enough angle and it drives me nuts.
I'm coming from a Nexus 6 that I didn't have the same issue with. Sure, if you angle it at extreme angles it gets weird, but I'm okay with that.
I just got the new gold variant and it does this.. Been trying to get used to it but it's driving me insane. anytime I type or move the phone around when pressing things all the whites turn a blue tint..
