Hey guys.
My mom uses a Nexus 7 as her tablet, and is having trouble with the screen randomly detecting touches that aren't there. After messing with it, I've noticed it's about an inch from the bezel on the right side of the screen, and touches there randomly whenever you try to touch somewhere on the screen. It's most annoying becuase when she tries to browse her apps, it just keeps hitting email over and over again.
A temporary fix is to simply turn the screen off and on. It comes back at random intervals though. I've gone 30 seconds without it happening, and I've gone days without it happening.
I've done plenty of google searches and never found a solution, just a bunch of threads with replies of "I have the same problem." Even just knowing if it's hardware or software would help me out. She's thinking about getting an iPad (I'm trying to discourage that option. My iOS experience was never that great) If it's hardware, I'll suggest other tablets. If it's software, I'll try to fix it.
Also, she updated whenever an update released. I thought that if it was a software/firmware issue, I could load a custom ROM on it and fix it. so Iloaded the latest CyanogenMod onto it. Still does it,though not as often, and now it closes windows randomly.

every now and then, my screen seems to not be responsive to my touch. ill tap on an icon or widget to open it repeatedly with no action to take place. its like im 'not' touching my screen. it gets real annoying when it happens on the lock screen and i cant even access my phone for some moments till my epic decides to detect my touch. another issue ive been having with my phone is when i tap my screen, the orientation or something seems off. if i tap on something at the top of my screen it'll click something on the bottom or vise versa. these screen issues seem to be the major probs im having with my phone. ive tried to search all over the net to see if others users have this prob to see if its an issue with the phone in general or just something with mine. i havent found anything on this issue that im having. if you also experience problems like i have please let me know and/or if there is a fix or something i can do to remedy the problem.
*my screen issues are not all the time. its all random. /// other than that i LOVE my new phone and couldnt be more than happier to finally get rid of my iPhone after 2.5 years.
I haven't heard anything about these, so these may just be me, BUT.
Since I got my new Atrix, I've had a myriad group of strange annoyances that are really starting to annoy me.
1. (Minor) Even when connected to wifi, it randomly will disconnect/stop working on the network, then reconnect in a few seconds. This isn't really an issue for me, though.
2. Occasionally (more recently), about a 5th of the screen (a bar across the top) will stop responding to touch. It's sometimes solved by turning the screen off or switching orientations, but sometimes not.
3. Sometimes the touchscreen will suddenly act like there's a touch somewhere else on the screen, or respond strangely to my inputs. For example, I just attempted to move an app around the homescreen, and it would return to its original square as soon as it was moved into a different one.
I am rooted, and have webtop over hdmi enabled. Other than that, though, I don't have anything weird installed. Is this happening to anyone else? Is my touchscreen faulty? Am I asking too many questions? Are these "features"?

Yeah, "features". More like a reminder of how easy we have it. But seriously, you might have done something in the rooting process or it could be hardware. It seems you have more than one issue with the screen itself. I would unroot and exchange it for a new one.
Yeah, I guess I'll try backing up and resetting storage, or maybe exchange. Thanks, though.
I actually had the first two problems. Just return it
Never live in the past but always learn from it.

Yeah, i definitely think there were some bad batches in the initial release and they realize that because when I brought mine in for a "software" issue they just replaced it lickity split, no questions asked. Didn't even charge me restocking
Alright, yeah. We'll see how easy Amazon Wireless is about returns.
Interestingly, problem number 2 only happens in generic Android "lists", like the first menu of Application settings.
Hi all,
I've recently switched to Android Roms on my HD2 after years of playing around with WM on it (as well as older HTC phones). However, this is the first time I ever encounter this problem:
After I had installed my first Android ROM (NexusHD2 v2.3; later updated to v2.4) I have been having a very weird problem with my touchscreen.
After a few minutes of reboot and working on my HD2, the screen goes crazy. It becomes uncontrollable, it starts switching from one tab to another, it becomes unresponsive to my taps, it won't click where I tap (it taps somewhere else), also it starts opening apps by itself (tapping by itself).
What is weird is that after a few seconds of this craziness, the touchscreen returns to normal functioning.
I searched for this problem online but couldn't get anything. I tried another ROM (Hyperdroid v9) but then after a few minutes of the flash, the same crazy behavior started.
This problem is really starting to make me hate my phone. Typing on the keyboard is the worst; and forget about browsing (clicks links randomly) or even gameplay.
I really hope someone could help me out. I hope this ends up to be a software issue. However if you think this is definitely a hardware one, do you have any suggestions on how I could fix it?
(I live in Lebanon, and in my country sending the phone for service is out of the question)
Sorry for the long text but I'm really getting desperate over this thing..
Best,
I'm going to switch back to WM6.5 in order to check whether this is an issue from Android or—hopefully not—a hardware one.
It seems my phone has a problem of ghost touch. The status bar slides down automatically and randomly. I turned on developer mode to see what happened, it seems, some coordinates near (320, 0) are clicked very often with no reason at all. It annoys me a lot since it interrupts my normal operation. Did someone has the same problem? And how do you solve it? Thanks
I had the same issue. top right of my screen would think it was being touch when it wasnt.
Yes, my wife's ph-1 has this issue. the ghost touches liked a bunch of Instagram posts, it was hilarious seeing my wife's reaction to this, and then she had to go back and unlike a bunch of crap posts.
But this is an issue and very serious one. I believe this could be also causing battery drain if it interacts with OS and causes deep sleep not to kick in when it should. If the issue happens again I will be contacting support to get this BS sorted out.
I have this issue on the oreo beta although it will keep touching the same spot continuously for about a minute or so and if it happens while the phones locked i cant do anything till it stops luckily its been happening less and less often
I had this happen on one phone but not the others, worse when the phone got hot
i think it's the screen, if you look closely, its not flat. Mine is kinda wavey at the edges, like there's a little too much adhesive, and i think that waviness gets worse when the phone gets hot, and causes the phantom touch

It was gone for 3 days and now the problem is back today. I tried to restart in safe mode and problem is still there so it is a system issue, not caused by third party app.
Same issue here. No rhyme or reason I can see as to why
Mine was happening on my old PH-1 without the earpiece screen, but i got the new version i got has no issue.
This issue is very annoying I'm thinking of returning the device to Sprint and getting another but since it happens so random I wouldn't even be able to show them the issue. Thought it was an issue with the oreo beta but after going back to stock I still have the issue starting to regret buying this phone
I've never experienced this issue on mine
Bump. Been happening to me on Oreo beta. About once or twice a day it happens. I just lock and unlock the phone and it stops. It's weird. I think it has something to do with the screen sensitivity. It's more prone to happening when the device screen is all smudgy or if I just washed my hands.
I have the same issue too.

Me too
Same issue here as well. I did the touch sensitivity trick as well and still getting it. Hope its a software issue and not a hardware one.
I haven't encountered ghost touch but encountered slow responding touch issue. Sometimes the touchscreen will respond to my command slower like 3-4 secs after i touch the screen. Every time this issue appears, a restart of my phone will clear it. Very likely software issue. I'm still on nougat, hopefully they fix it on Oreo before it goes out of beta.
My first PH-1 would become touch unresponsive for 30+ seconds all the time (it was fully updated at the time). It seemed to happen more frequently when I was typing on the stock keyboard. I eventually returned it and bought another several weeks later. I've had no issues with the new one-quite happy with it. I'm running the Beta2 update and enjoying it.

That's good to know. Mine also happened when using the keyboard occasionally as well. I have a replacement set coming as my original set's packaging did not come with the pull tab on the box and there was a fingerprint smudge at the back of the phone when i took the phone out of the box the first time. I presumed mine was a used/returned set, not new as what i had ordered. Hope the new set fixes the issue.
My phone has the same issue whenever I'm charging it and using it at the same time it's registering multiple touches when I'm using just one finger on the screen, it mostly happen when I'm doing a long press action. In developers option I have show taps enable so I'm able to see all ghost touches.
I fixed my ghost touch issue with a simple hard reset.
It will come back sadly
There was a time that I had an issue regarding ghost touches.
This happened (or it happens only) when i ride the bus and it is bumpy. Then suddenly while using it, i will register ghost touches and some random selection like i had controller it. And randomly tap on my screen. I have no extra phone that time and i was unable to record it but hopefully it makes sense.
These happened last january. I restored my phone in factory. Installed apps only on google play store hoping that the reason why it malfunctioned waa because i like to sideload apps and modify apps on my own. The next week i rode the bus it still persisted. Restarted my phone and boom. Its gone for a few months.
Fast forward to march i experienced it once more after 3 updates and i was hoping it will be gone since the latest software update clearly indicated that touch problem was already solved/addressed. I was riding the bus and it was bumpy and again... It registered ghost touches again..
I immediately went home and grabbed my other phone to document what happens but it cant replicate the error again. But since iam prepared. I rode the bus everyday to replicate it and document it. But it does t seem to be the case anymore.
I want to know if someone had the same experience where it registers ghost touches on bumpy roads. Iam documenting it in case someone reads it and had the same case as mine.
I did everything and i hope this is just a software problem.
What do you guys think? Is it software related or hardware related? Some poor optimization of the software with the sensors of the phone that thinks touches has been made if it is on that situation?
I had this problem but it was somewhat different. I would get random touches only when using the reddit app and while typing with swiftkey. The quick settings menu would keep dropping down from the top of the screen as if someone was constantly swiping down. It would get so bad that I had to lock and unlock my screen to fix it. It didn't matter if I was traveling or sitting still. This problem has gone away since the last asus software update.

Ah! Thank you for your inputs!
I was trying to replicate it if i could. But hopefully mine would get fixed too. Mine was on the latest update and hopefully it isnt a hardware problem.
Ghost touch i'm facing is 2 randomly tap on notification area while using the phone...
