The response times are terrible, and the entire sync process is very slow & lagging.
Runnig win7 64bit.
I want to verify I'm using optimal MTP drivers.

Thanks for your response.
I did
1. clean uninstall of the drivers
2. restart
3. latest driver install (from kies folder)
4. restart
5. connected the device & waited until the device installed successfully.
6. Upgraded the sync software (musicbee) to 2.2 beta
Now sync works like a charm again.

Hi,
Apparently - this happens again.
Any idea how to improve MTP device response?

Try to download from google play something like "mount data storage" application. So you can use your phone as USB flash drive... Try this method... Or - use SD card adapter and put sd card with adapter to PC

I will eventually try the card adaptor method (though it's the year 2013.. not 1995)

Eventually, I found this to be a microSDXC card issue (Sandisk Ultra 64GB).
I can't copy new files to the card, nor delete old files, nor format the card (even low level formatting doesn't work).
Card is under international lifetime warranty. Opened a service request with Sandisk for the moment.

SD Card Issues

Jusyt started having an issue with my SD Card noticed really today but a few times in the past.
The SD card seems to 'drop out' I.E. It wont be picked up by the phone.
I currently have the 6.5 UK Offical ROM installed.
Edit:
Seems to be caused when I use RSS Hub and it downloads a feed and freezes.
Almost like it tries to write to the SD, messes up and this drops out the SD Card???
Already discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580159
Thank you for that however that didnt resolve my issue and I wasnt prepared to buy a new card just yet. (I know they are cheap but I always have to get my moneys worth! )
So I have solved the issue.
It appeared there was a file or two that were either corrupted or were located in bad sectors and when the phone tried to read these from the SD Card it failed and the SD Card bummed out.
As opening the folder containing the files also dropped out the SD Card I backed up my data thus:
Connected the phone to the pc via Data Storage.
ran xcopy from command prompt:
xcopy e:\*.* c:\phone_backup /E
This would freeze on the corrupted files so I would then reboot the phone and reconnect it and create a txt file in the C: Drive called file.txt and it contained just the name of the file.
Then you can run:
xcopy e:\*.* c:\phone_backup /E / EXCLUDE:file.txt
This would then attempt to copy the files whilst excluding any files listed in file.txt.
After a few more resets and a few more files added to the list I was able to copy off most of everything.
I then ran the SD Card through the Panasonic SD Card Formatter twice and copied all the files back.
12 Hours later and no issues as of yet. Fingers Crossed!!
If anyone needs a better explanation or help let me know!
I wish you all the best with your method, but how to apply it to an empty SD which has been formatted with Panasonic app (all settings tried)? In that case there are no files to work on..
If the card cant be read at all then it will not work but if it works up to a point and accessing something or something running (RSS HUB, scheduled email download) crashes it this may help.
I would suggest trying to card in the phone in data storage mode, in a camera, in a usb card reader. Try different ways and if one works get the files off you can.
Without using a data recovery tool like Photrec you cant recover data on a card formatted with Panasonic tools. Make sure you get what you can off it before you format!!
Sie: Thanks for taking the trouble of explaining what you did, others with a card problem might find that very useful. I use command line but wasn't aware of the "exclude" switch, it's very handy to know.
Why not "tag" this thread with something to help people find it

[Q] Fix SD card not being detected ??

i was copying some wallpapers from my computer to my phone.. all good ive disconnected the phone from the pc removed the usb cable .. work for a while ok and after a few minutes the sdcard got unreadable. and since then is not detecable anymore .
i had some problems with the sdcard a couple of years ago and i formated it. and worked fine until now.
what can i do?? to recover it?
ive read some instructions posted by users on HTC something about a fastboot recovery mode.. but the SG3 doesnt have that .. how can i format my sdcard or recover it please ?!?!!?!?
You can format it simply from windows (you need to use a sd card adapter) and to recover you can use EASEUS Data recovery professional. You can also try doing it via the phone, by unmounting the card (if It's not greyed out) and then format.

Not only should you format, do a disk check on it, since sometimes bad sectors can cause that.
The order you should do is format, check disk, format... that way check disk doesn't detect corrupt files and the second format formats over what the disk check found.
At least in windows and most removable hard drives this is the case... since your problem is with the card not the phone this could be the case
I had teh same problem ...
There's actually 2 options to get it working ...
1) Buy a class 4 or a class 6 sdcard. (Teh one which u get for free with u're G3 phone is class 2 sdcard and it sucks )
2) Remove teh stock applications and install some cool applications which's got teh option "manual folder scan" (You can select this option for force u're application to scan u're sdcard) Like power amp for music player and quick pic for viewing photos or wall papers or what eva ..!

Possible to copy large files to the external SD card? (exFAT)

I and many with me cant copy files over 4gb directly to our SD cards. There should not be any problem with the file size since the cards are formatted in exFAT but files over 4gb cant be copied.
If you copy a large file first to the internal memory and then over to the SD card it works, but not directly to it.
I get this error message:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

How come? It is really irritating.
I am using a 64GB SanDisk Class 10 card but I think that it has something to do with the note 2 settings somehow because I dont think that the same problem occurs with the S3.
I have tried with the standard explorer in windos(simply crashes), Airdroid, ES File Explorer and Kies.
This issue has been discussed a bit here as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889203&page=5
Any ideas or work around except copying first to the internal which is getting overfilled already.
Hi.
I can confirm it is possible, but you need a rooted Note 2. I just copied a 5.26 Gbyte video to my Note 2 64 GByte card ...
It's not stable though: just after copying, the Note 2 became veeeeeeery slow and needed a reboot. I'm sure that'll work out better in the future.
You need:
- On the phone: SGS3 Easy UMS (see here)
- On the PC: SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe (see here)
SGS3 Easy UMS needs BusyBox and asks for its installation. I used the "Install" method during the BusyBox installation instead of "Smart Install". I don't know if it matters, but it worked at least.
Because of the slowness issue, I instructed SGS Easy UMS to use MTP again as default. It's easy enough to swith to UMS mode if necessary.
YMMV : hope it helps
Actually I've run into this issue on the Note 10.1 with the same scenario.
I just put the files on the Micro SD card directly, then insert the card into the tablet.

Any update about this issue?
ikonane,
I currently own a Note AND a Note II (see my signature) and the process was the same, you format your MicroSD XC in NTFS and not exFAT which is not properly recognised by Notes. This is the most tricky part as I had to buy a specific microsd reader from Sony that was supporting XD format otherwise I was only allowed to use the first 32GB.
Once done, you install (you need to be root) on your Note II NTFSSD (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oyaxai.ntfssd) and voila, you can copy files above the 4GB limit either by using your microsd adapter or using the usb link.
One additional piece of information, I prefer use the microsd adapter because speed transfer is faster (7 MB/s) than with the USB link (around 2MB/s) and with the Note II you can eject your sdcard without turning your mobile off which was not possible with the first occurrence of the Galaxy Note.
Hope it helps.

Hahaha, someone who thinks they know what they're talking about.
This wouldn't be a problem if FAT32 could handle files over 4gb, but you knew that right? Oh yeah I'm sure you did.

MTP doesn't have anything against the type of files you can transfer. It'll give you a warning but you can just click past that to continue on with the transfer.

Yes it does, it changed file created date , I can't see Linux hidden files (names start with "point")
MTP is sux and SLOW ! , at least External SD card should be with an option to use as USB Mass Storage !.
I have tried SGS3_Easy_UMS_v1.2beta2.apk and it doen't work well (PC can see disk , but not what inside disk)
All I can do is to remove external SD card and connect to card reader, but it's annoying !

It seems that a custom kernel is needed.
This is soooooo bad.

[WORKAROUND][MOTO_CAM]Moto camera save2sd on custom roms

****REQUIRES ROOT****|**For sdcards formatted as portable storage**
Hi. As you already know many of the custom roms break the functionality of moto camera to save directly to external sdcard. But I have found a nice workaround for this. The latest version of Folder Mount works on MM(more details below)
So all we have to do is to link the /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera to /storage/{number&letters}/DCIM/Camera.
Link to post about latest version of Folder Mount is here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67007980
It works for my rom+kernel+whatever but you should test it first.Download it and first create a test link between two test folders in both storages. Now with a file manager copy a file in internal test folder. If the app works for you then you should see the file in external sdcard test folder too. Now you can link the DCIM/Camera and there you go!:fingers-crossed:
Tip:When linking, there is a option to hide the external folder from gallery. You can use it to prevent double entry in gallery.
I tested it on-
Resurrection Remix 5.6.9+Squid kernel 16g. My sdcard is sandisk uktra 64 gb formatted as portable .
I haven't tested it with sdcards formatted as internal. I have no idea how that works too.
I am *not* responsible for data loss,so make it *absolutely sure* that you do have a backup of at least a nandroid, internal and external sdcard. All credit goes to the dev of Folder Mount app.:good:
Note: You should also read the Main thread of FolderMount for general instructions, tips and *updates*.Its here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192122
If you get it working please report back with your rom+kernel+sdcard file system and other details so people can confirm easily. It is a do-it-as-your-risk and you should be careful.Thank you.

Thanks for this, will try tonight.
Question, does this save a copy on internal and external or just move straight to external?
Edit...just tried on cm13...way easier than I thought and it works. And to answer my own question it does keep a copy in internal as well as external

From what I know of the app's working, the files are actually located at external sdcard but are visible on both.If you turn off the link and visit the folders, you will find that internal one(in our case /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera) appears to be empty whereas the one in sdcard (/storage/{numbers&letters}/DCIM/Camera) holds the files. It can be seen from twrp file manager too. So the good thing is the files are not doubled actually.
A funny thing is it may confuse space calculating apps, for example my es explorer's sd card analyst shows 3.52 gb of 11.81 gb used but at the same time shows dcim one(one the internal; which is empty) as of 3.61 gb alone. But storage option in settings seem to show correctly.
Anyways glad to hear it works![emoji16]
