CM DSP Manager is uninstalled and Settings -> Sounds -> Music Effects brings me to Viper4Android
Tried with Apollo and Play Music App.

ok, I fought with getting it to work on ASOP for like a week with no luck. It always showed the same, everything yes, processing no. I tried everything, even a couple diff. ASOP roms. I tried like EVERYTHING, switching to SuperSU, trying market BusyBox, system app, user app, etc, etc. I ended up on CM11, trying desperately to get it to work. BTW I'm using Poweramp (direct turned off) but it wouldn't work on anything else either, streaming or local. I was so upset, I really wanted it to work. Strangely enough, as a last straw I downloaded a different player, Neutron Eval. and suddenly it worked in there. I then switched over to PowerAMP, and WTF it was working!!! I have no god damn clue why! Since then I reflashed a new nightly of the ROM, and it still works in PowerAMP! I really have no idea! But, it can be made to work on ASOP. I have it as a system app, SuperSU, CM busybox (stock), no forceFX, or compatibility required.
As far as I can tell, the deal is it just needs a couple of days to "settle in," maybe neutron gave it a kick in the butt. The best I can say is, just keep trying, and let it bake around for a while. I saw other people saying it randomly kicked in after a couple days/reboots. I seriously tried for a damn week, then all of a sudden with neutron it kicked in, now after two new flashes to system it still works with PowerAMP and I havent ran Neutron since the first time. But I'm happy of a clam now, works like a charm on CM11.

Hello everyone I contacted the developer of Xperia led music app from play store to make his app compatible with custom roms. He gave me this link for apk
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B42Y3CyHN_zoYkQ2S3I3Y3BoR0E/view?usp=sharing for testing it. Currently I am using XperianZe rom by Omessy7 but the app is not working and closes automatically for which I contacted the developer to which he replied the rom doesn't support the visualiser library properly. So could anyone try the app on other custom roms so I could report it back to him. Also one can check if the rom supports the visualiser library by downloading led vu meter from play store and changing the sound source from microphone to device playback (speaker)(I got force close doing this which meant this rom doesn't support visualiser library).
So please try and report.
One can contact him directly at [email protected]
Hit thanks if helped.
Regards
Bullet
UPDATE: Developer has released the app on play store --> Led Music Effect (rooted).
Please try it from play store.

Please tell me with what music player are you using.
Also its intended to work while screen is awake. And after force closing does it work without rebooting?

I don't know how this dude managed to get it working. Here's my report
LED VU Meter fails to react on songs I played. I only have two players on my phone, VLC and Apollo. Playing music on both players doesn't give VU Meter any response at all. And yes I have changed the settings.
The LED Music app will briefly blink the LED bar on service activation. Afterwards no blinking happen. If I pause the music in Apollo, the LED Music process will get an FC.
Tried rebooting and such but still the same problem happens.
I am using CM11 M11 Official. Bootloader is unlocked, and I have not flashed any xperia apps except the xperia keyboard. So you can consider I am a close-stock CM user.

What I meant by experience is that, it seemed not to be blinking with the music. It feels as if it blinks without following the rythm. Sometimes, the led stop blinking for a really brief moment when actually the music is actually intense.

Hey I installed cm11 m11 just to try this app but was disappointed that it didn't open after installing. I also tried the led music effect app from play store but it's not asking for root permissions from supersu. In addition to this the dsp manager force closes while playing music. Could you tell me how you managed to install the app without any error? Please reply
Also vu led meter is force closing at it didn't happen to you.
What am I doing wrong ?

Well this is very weird. I can't say you did anything wrong, as I already told you earlier, I am a very close-to-stock CM user ....for....well that's yesterday. I have wiped my system again early this morning and flashed the M11 again because I want to change my gapps package, and I decided to bail Xperia keyboard. So I am now officially stock CM, with no system modification at all. To take this as a sensible way, I don't use any other kernel, I have no other external sony frameworks (Walkman etc), I don't have any audio modification tool (Viper etc). Well the only thing I do system-wise is downclocked the device to 1.2GHz, in which, I don't see no relation to your FCs.
You can see this on youtube! Something went wrong here! While I was recording the video, and before recording I reinstalled the apk, the LED Music Effect does not start during the recording. Now the recording is completed, but hanged and incomplete. It seems to be similar to what you've encountered (LED Music Effect not starting and closes immediately). I don't seem to find a fix, cleared dalvik cache, cleared cache partition and reinstall and reboots numerous times and I can't get it to start. A logcat though, yields an interesting service leak. I am not an android pro but I wonder why. See the attachment. And if possible, point the dev to this post for him to inspect the logcat. For technical info, during log recording, I attempted to start the app twice or thrice. Astonishing thing happened too! VU Meter respond on Power Amp music, all recorded in the video
But I do notice a possible "fault" of yours however. I used the apk provided in the OP, and not from the play store. Additionally, I don't know what will happen if I use the official app from Play Store. I maybe test with that later as I am facing a very unfortunate thing which could cost me 66$ to 100$. :crying: Just tested too, well the normal one of course wouldnt work. Its not for custom ROMs.

Okay I finally found the app in the play store. Weird that the play store one runs without any error now. I haven't done a reflash at all.
Anyway I sure hope the dev behind this look forward to support Apollo too. I am not fond of other player though.

Nice that you brought this up
Well I don't at first. Since Apollo fails to light the LED bar, I installed the illumination receiver and tried again but still no satisfying results.
Illumination receiver being present and absent does not affect Power Amp at all. LED Music Effect will still light the LED bar if the song is played in Power Amp. Obviously because Power Amp is one of the supported app.

Please share a link to the illumination receiver apk in a post of xda so I can check if I have the latest version of it.

Well the app is not intended to work with receiver but if the receiver is installed the led changes color when changing tracks in Walkman app . The led lights for a second or two according to album art color, at this moment of you run led music effect the led shows rainbow colors because of mixing of lights from both apps.
BTW I am using Walkman and got no force close too.

Now being very off topic:
Are you currently using stock ROM or a stock-based Custom ROM or a Custom ROM?
Hi,
since the latest update 5.1.1 LMY48M I noticed that I have a really annoying issue when watching YT videos. It's like this:
I start the video. normally it would start with a full hd resolution, means 1080p but it doesnt. Instead it lokks like 144p (or what is the smallest resolution?). Thios goes for 10 seconds then the system freezes and reboots.
I try to start the video again. Same thing all over again. again the reboot. The third time it works fine.
The tablet is rooted, Xposed with some modules like YT background, addisabler,..
Always worked fine with the previous update.
Someone noticed something like that?
Same thing here. It has smth to do with 1080p. Every other resolutiion does not cause fc's

This has been happening to me more frequently recently. Really annoying. I'm just rooted on the stock OS. Don't think this anything to do with it though.
Same issue here. It also freezes and shutdown when you try to change the resolution up to 1080p or whatever is max. Only in the YouTube app. No issues with Netflix or browser video. Or ever the YouTube website
Yes tablet freezes, makes a buzzing sound then shuts down and restarts. I think there was a YouTube update recently.
So it was not just me after all. I use a Nexus 10, 5.1.1, stock unrooted. It mostly won't happen, but I know exactly when the crash is coming: the YouTube video starts playing at an apparent 144p, and some 10 or 15 seconds later the video freezes, the last sound sample keeps repeating creeply, and Android crashes and reboot. If this problem isn't limited to my Nexus 10, then it's the YouTube app's fault?
Uninstalled YouTube then installed older version, will report back if that helps.

I just did this and can confirm that it will stop that problem. It took me several roms both lollipop and KitKat to figure it out but I final decided that it was a YouTube issue, as stated in previous post, and downloaded an older version. It is working great now.
"Chance Favors the Prepared"
I can also confirm that rolling back to a previous version fixes the problem
Trying newest version of YouTube http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...43-58-android-4-0-3-5-1-android-apk-download/
Only used it a short time but no problem yet. This version was uploaded 10/31.

That version seemed to work then a newer version came out, figured that would be the one so I installed it. Froze up again so I'm back on version 10.21.57, frustrating.
After putting an older version started having problems with sound sync so went to latest version from play store and turned back on awesome player from developer options and so far everything is fine
Same problem. Nexus 10. Latest firmware, latest version of youtube.
Haven't had the problem since two weeks. And I always have the latest version from Play Store installed. Maybe it was a bug in the last versions.
Ok it used to happen once in a blue moon now it's happening all the time! It reboots, try to watch another video then it reboots again....
Same problem
Have the same problem, latest firmware and latest YouTube app uppdate :\
It's definitely the YouTube app because no other streaming app does this and not even YouTube through the browser.
Same here since some weeks.
Nexus 10 stock and unrooted, 5.1.1 LMY48X. Youtube 10.43.60
Google Play Services v8.4.89 (2428711-236) and Play Store v6.0.0
I can read videos for 10 to 15 secs until tablet freezes with sound, then turn off and reboot.
Then I go to Settings -> Apps -> Youtube, I clear cache (always about 267 Mb) and erase data. And then I can watch about 5-8 videos before it crashes again.
Edit : found 10.47.54 on apkmirror, I'll try it and be back here.
---------- Post added at 12:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 AM ----------
Same crash with 10.47.54 and always at the same frame in the video. Seems incredible :/
I'll try to downgrade Youtube.
---------- Post added at 12:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 AM ----------
Downgraded to 10.21.57 and... it works.
No more crashes at that same video frame.
Hope this will be OK for others videos... and that Google will solve that bug.
This issue made me get off my butt and put CM12.1 on it.
Will try the downgrade and report back
Has anyone got 1440p working? The freeze and no audio thing hurts when it has such a good screen.
Same problem. Stock N10, unrooted, latest updates and get the crash.
I had the A.R.I.S.E sound mod installed and last night the audio on my nexus 6p stopped working completely, youtube won't load videos, pandora/spotify/gonemad music player all just skip songs endlessly and I was on mtc19x for the longest time, rooted and with that one mod and everything worked fine.
I also had gravitybox installed. I flashed to MTC20F and took the nougat update, I still saved all my userdata but sound doesn't work. I even updated to the newest ARISE sound mod and still nothing. Dolby atmos just crashes and no sound works at all.
I really need some help with this cause I'm at a total loss right now, I didn't do anything different yesterday and everything just broke. I also cleared the cache and turned off bluetooth and everything.
I also just went back to stock everything, still no luck after wiping it all.
Flash stock and see if your sound works.
If you've also recently flashed a custom kernel, check sound settings via a kernel manager app (ex. Ex Kernel app). It's possibñe speaker setting has been set o a negative value, causing sound not to play.

I had this same thing happen with my Nexus 5 after a year and a half, the battery started depleting in 30 minutes, I think it was the dsp in the SD800 chipset but I don't know how to test it to check if the dsp is in tact, any suggestions?
And boi it's annoying. For Alarms and and Calls the system simply stops all audio.
To put the long story short; an error happens at a moment be it double disable audio or simply unable to use the driver or similar. It doesn't happen at any exact moment, it can happen at random. And it's really annoying. Like I said, music players stop working, alarms don't work (vibration does tho), you can make nor answer calls.
I honestly thought this was done via Amplify or Greenify or something, then moving to other roms, it kept happening and thus I decided to post it here. I have logcats if needed.
In my case; last few occurrences went off with a lag, trying to navigate and seemingly freezing for about 2-3 minutes and then the audio crash. sadly didnt log that one.

This won't be of much help but I haven't experienced any audio issues with any ROM yet.
Do you have any utilities such as V4A or AFX installed? Do you have a custom kernel with sound control installed? Also, if you're on Vegito audio may crash while the phone is off as Vegito will unplug all cores but one when idle.
There was a featured XDA thread about enabling high-perf mode for Qualcomm DACs too... it simply sets it to maximum power at all times to the DAC, reducing audio startup delay. Worked fine on my G4 with Magisk, but ymmv.
I do not have any mods installed. And have the ROM kenrel (In this case AOSIP)
I have some catlogs if needed @[email protected] However, mind letting me know of this featured thread? sorry for the ridiculously late reply, I thought I had replied the same day.
Hi guys,
My LG V20 is my main, and also my work phone. My goal is to have the lightest ROM available while still having a stable feature set (speaker, bluetooth, wifi, etc all working normally)
After a bit of trouble, I finally got 14.1 Lineage OS loaded up and it's definitely lighter but I've been running into issues. People do not hear me well on speaker, bluetooth music play "skips", and now the bluetooth is no longer connecting to devices I've connected it to before.
I'd love to have something that removes all bloatware, but still has the stability of stock. Any recommendations?
I have a H910 AT&T Variant,
My job requires my phone. I mainly use my phone for Skype, WhatsApp, Email, Google Maps + Navigation, Playing FLAC music using High Impedance headphones and Car 3.5mm input, FM Radio, RockRadio.com app/Galaxie Radio(RadioKing) app and 4G LTE data.
I tried AOKP, RR, LOS, Alpha and Super...both ver. 7(Nougat) and 8(Oreo).
This took me a very long time to decide, I also tried older stuff like WETA, etc...
Alpharom Oreo works best for me, everything I listed works fine.
I use the mk2000 kernel, great battery life, with heavy use you need to fast charge sometime in the day.
The only problem I have, the wifi seems to go off when phone is inactive because whatsapp on pc keep saying not connected until you unlock/wake up phone.
But it is so awesome, I love it...
AOSP based roms have problems with audio and dac, it works but not loud and clean, I tried playing with mixer file but no luck.
They are much faster and LOS15 based roms have the second screen working with custom kernel...
Don't worry, it is work in progress...
This is just my opinion, and it suits my lifestyle, you need to try some different ones and see for yourself.
It's funny you mentioned Alpha being the one you like most. I was going through the roms yesterday, and couldn't install some of the Oreo based roms (I'd get an error that the kernel wasn't the correct one, I guess since I was coming from 14.1)
After looking through some, I ended up installing the alpha omega oreo rom with mk2 kernel and it is working great so far (I just haven't tested bluetooth yet).
I've lost all the sluggishness I saw before, especially when using "Ok, Google" to add calendar appointments, etc.
I have the second screen which is also a nice little bonus. Battery life seems to be as good as it's been, as well.
One question : I tried using Magisik to check all the bloatware I wanna hide, but it doesn't seem to do anything? Is there a way I can remove LG and ATT bloatware completely?
i am still using wetarom with weta kernel... since it was well developed and a stock base rom, i found no problem whatsoever while using it... even tho is outdated, no one has successfully hacked my phone yet lol
The alpha install lets you choose what bloatware you want to remove...
Flash the magisk zip right after before reboot, thats what I do...
You can disable whatever apps remain like uber, etc....
I just keep LG Smartworld for themes, LG Health, FM Radio and LG Music app.
I've been trying to get the LG AirDrive to work, it worked some time with older alpha build but it now keeps crashing.
---------- Post added at 07:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:11 PM ----------
WETA was/is a great rom but something about running the latest android appeals to me. Great performance/battery life and audio stuff.
So far alpha rom has been working well (still trying to find a safe list of bloatware that I can remove via ADB, or some other way.)
Only issue I'm having, which I also had before, is that bluetooth play (especially in the car, but no exclusively), will sometimes stutter like it's a 90's cd player. Not sure if it could be related to the case I have on the phone at all? I'll have to test it both ways and see what happens
Just run BluReset app included with the ROM (I think you have to select it) it helps but need to do it ever so often, I just use Bluetooth for calls in the car and 3.5mm for audio.
