I don't want to trip the Knox flag just yet so I'm starting with a safe method. So whats the difference between rooting via Root De La Vega or installing a Pre-Rooted stock ROM like the one from DjeMBeY? Both are Knox/warranty safe correct?
I'm on a N900W8
Thanks
The difference between the ROM and the Root de La Vega is really only that the Pre Rooted Rom WILL trip the Knox Warranty, the Root de la vega is the only root method that promises to not trip the Knox counter!

Thanks. I must have read it wrong. So like I thought, the only thing you can do and not void the warranty/tip Knox flag is root via Root de la vega. Flashing any ROM will trip the Knox flag.
Exactly, flashing any ROM, Recovery or Kernel will trip the Counter. I used Root de la Vega and it still tripped the counter, but I think it's pretty safe and I did something wrong

Actually there are two additional (and easier) methods to root without tripping the Knox counter:
Kingoapp 1.1.1
vroot
:good:
Can't find them on xda
Are they safe and for every rom?

There is a thread for Kingoapp in XDA. Do a search. Their site is www.kingoapp.com You'll be able to see which models of Note 3 are compatible.
vroot you'll have to google. It's a Chinese app and you can't post a link for it in XDA but there is some discussion about it in XDA.
Both have been used by folks in the Note 3 forums. So far so good and Knox = 0X0 although the status will be Custom. And I believe that can be fixed with Xposed just like in the RDLV root.
Both of these root methods are one button to root and one button to unroot. Basically make sure your phone is in Debug mode, plug it in and press the button.

UPDATED POST:
Hello,
As @Dumbo53 has mentioned below posts, there is a root method by the developer @designgears and it seems that this root method does NOT trigger the knox flag.
Unfortunately, it is just for the AT&T Note 3 devices.
Maybe someone could port this root method for our international N900 and N9005 model devices?
Root de la Vega:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474422
----------------------------------------------------
Hello there,
I wanted to share something from Chainfire's Auto-Root thread.
Chainfire has mentioned:
Using this root method sets current binary and system status to custom. Additionally, it will also trigger the KNOX warranty void status.
This device store the traditional flash counter. Nor is is possible with Triangle Away to reset the current binary status. You will need to flash a stock kernel and stock recovery to reset the binary status.
The KNOX warranty status change is permanent, and a service center may deny warranty based on this flag - even if the other flags are reset correctly. The KNOX flag being tripped may also prevent certain Samsung KNOX features from working (enterprise security features).
If this is something you care about, use a root method not based on custom kernels or recoveries, like a modified system partition. These are possible, but I don't personally make them, so look around!

So my question is simple:
Is there any talented developer who can look at the system partition on the devices N900/9005 and somehow to look if he can modify it to root without triggering the knox counter. Iaw chainfire's post, it seems to be possible, but we need a talented developer to look for this
I would be really so happy, if it can be done this way...
No because if you do anything you alter the md5 checksum m8 and knox watch this

I was talking according to Chainfire, dude. He just showed us that there could "may be" a way to root without knox would recognise this.
I think may be knox watches only the bootloader and recovery situation (if it is custom or official).
Chainfire's root method includes to flash first insecure recovery and after root flashes back the official recovery. During this process knox recognise the shortly time with the insecure recovery and the counter goes to 0x1. But iaw Chainfire's post, i think if someone could root without touching the recovery or kernel, it could be possible not to trigger the knox during the root process.
I don't think we will have a way to bypass it. I think once you get root it will still trigger it.
Funny how this is something from an Android device and not an iDevice.
Guess Samsung got tired of fixing devices after someone oc the hell out of it!

There already is a root method that doesn't trigger the Knox flag by designgears, but as of now only for At&t Note 3 (Root de la Vega). It however only gives root, not a custom recovery. There are already people begging him to port it to other devices and he seems to be willing to do them one by one.

I don't have any information showing Knox flag in Odin mode, Exynos SM-N900. Does this mean my phone doesn't have this flag?

hello, im a noob to android tinkering although I have been using it for some time. I am interested in rooting my n9005 and planned on using the root de la vega method to avoid tripping knox. Just before I planned on rooting I updated ota and now im running mj7 for which there is no ap or csc number listed on the tutorial thread does this mean if I want root I have to void warranty. Sorry if its a dumb question./SIZE]

@op apparently you did not read (as I didn't myself on my first note 3):
RDLV does not work once you update through ota or stock odin (with bootloader update) afaik, so you might be screwed out of the RDLV method already.

Hi there,
i will get my note 3 N9005 LTE today from amazon germany. So i was wondering whats the safest and easiest way to root the device without tripping warranty ?
I read many posts (knox, kingo, vega, problems with all of them, ...) , so i think the root de la vega is safe nowadays ?
And how to remove bloatware the easy way ?
Thank you

1. DO NOT LET the phone auto-update or security-update.
2. If it is a N9005 check (with *#1234# ) your AP, CP and CSC
3. If you have AP <= MJ3 then you can very likely root with Universal Root De La Vega (URDLV); you can then update to MJ7 using Mobile Odin Pro (MOP) and keep root and knox 0x0.
Search around for more details on the specific thread on URDLV and URDLV+MOP.

If you don't mind triggering knox then you have more options - CF-auto-root is supposed to be easier but IMHO once you triggered knox you should also install a custom recovery (I would suggest Chenlu's CWM or Philz CWM) so that you can also make a complete backup of your phone to the external microSD.

I can not guarantee that, it seems in the URDLV thread there are 2-3 posters that say that were on MJ3 and applied URDLV to MJ3 ROM and knox was not tripped, but there are other that seem to say they tripped knox from MJ3.

I tripped knox on my note. Mine was MJ3 from O2 UK. But it was beginning of URDLV. Check how people from Germany rooted their phones and did they succeeded. That is best you can do.
I got my phone insured so if there will be something wrong with it I just say it was stolen.
Before rooting check your camera and multi-touch. Some notes have those issues.

I have MJE and recently tried to root my phone using root de la Vega and soft bricked my phone. I fixed it but I still want to root my phone. I don't want to waste my time with root de la Vega if it doesn't work. Does it work with MJE? But I don't want to trip KNOX either so I don't want to use kingo. Which do you think I should use?

You have it backwards, Root De La Vega WILL trip knox, where as Kingo WILL NOT trip knox.
On MJE your only option to not trip knox is Kingo. I used it on the version before MJE and it worked fine. Then I updated OTA to MJE and root was preserved but checking the preserve root option in SU pro.
