Well I've LG Nexus 4 with sensor not working for about 1 inch from bottom. it's mean I can't select anything from bottom, so I need an app, script or like tab button (like on windows computer) from which we can jump from one option to another.

[Q] Want to move or "eliminate" the home icons

My biggest actual usability issue with Nexus 7 is the home icons. It's too easy to swipe them during game play, especially annoying when you are trying to keep the kids busy. I'd like a mod with 2 options:
1. Drag it to the top (or the side?)
2. Even better, Make it go away until the table is "sleeped" and restarted.
Is there an simple option/rom that does these 2 simple things without tons of stuff I don't care about (that affect updates, etc)? If not, which mods do you recommend and feel good about that can at least do this?
Thanks
I'm not understanding what you're asking. How can you swipe away home screen icons when you are playing a game that takes up the whole screen? Using an alternate launcher from the market, like Apex launcher, will allow you to lock the desktop so that no changes can be made until you unlock it again.
When I play a full screen game I don't want to have any OS home/etc icons that can be swiped accidently. I just want to have to exit through a menu, or sleep the device (tap the power button) and wake it up again so the icons return (since not all games have an exit feature). Locking my home screen or desktop does me no good when I am in a game. I'll give apex a try, but it looks to me like it doesn't do what I want. I'm satisfied with the stock environment except for the one issue I describe. How many times have you accidently left a game?

I would say the best way to do what you're trying to do is to flash Paranoid Android or another ROM that offers what is called "expanded desktop mode".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800268
Basically "expanded desktop mode" is exactly what you are asking for. When you briefly hold down the power button in Paranoid Android (and this works in any app) a menu pops up that allows you to select "expanded desktop mode" which makes the navigation bar disappear. The navigation bar will reappear when you briefly hold down the power button again and select "expanded desktop mode again".
This feature may be part of other ROMs based on cyanogenmod but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe another member with more knowledge can weigh in on this.

I used paranoid android on my htc sensation. It is a cool Rom with a lot of features!

Extended Desktop Mode will certainly do the job. But, I don't really want a major desktop redo (I know, that attitude isn't in the spirit of the great things the developers do here). Is there anyway to just install an extended desktop app?
It doesn't even need to be an extended desktop (the screen space isn't a big issue), Just a disabled home bar would do the trick.
Anyway to make a rom with just that feature? (I have some programming skills) Not sure where to start though. Just trying for a minimalist solution.
Thanks for helping. It's really appreciated. I learn a little more every day about what is happening here.

[Q] Possible to move soft keys yet?

I have seen several posts with this question, but none with answers. Has anyone found a way to move the soft keys to one side or another? I keep hitting them when I type (did it while typing this ironically). Never did make sense to me to have a touch sensitive home button right underneath one of the most often used buttons on the typing board. In any case, I have scoured the net looking for an answer and can't find one. Any know if I missed it somewhere? Thanks in advance.
Try a tablet mod ROM, it has the navigation keys bunched up in the bottom left corner. Hope this helps.
Where?
Appreciate the info. Where do I find that one? I have seen a lot of different ROMs for N7, but nothing denoted as "tablet ROM" and none that have mentioned moving the soft keys as a feature.

Sorry for the n00b questions, but this is my first tablet...where do I change that? I have looked though the settings and have not seen a place to do that. I am running a rooted but (almost) stock ROM. (Manually loaded 4.1.2) And will that change the rest of the viewing area?

Lazarus there is alternatives as well. Team EOS rom allows you to completely hide the softkey interface. I eventually went with gmd gesture control which allows you to hide/show the keys at the flick of your hand, as well as much, much more.
Try the lite version here

This looks like an awesome little app. But I don't see where to hide the nav bar. Is that one of the Pro features? (It is a sweet little app either way.)

This sends me back to JB 4.1.1 though doesn't it? I have already upgraded to 4.1.2 (Though at this point I could not tell you what the difference is other than home screen rotation.) I didn't know 4.1.1 well enough to know it. Only had the tablet a few days.

Might be, it definitely is available in the pro version though.

[Q] MultiWindow and Air Command - want to reset to defaults...

I'm on a VZW Galaxy Note 3 rooted running JellyBeans 5.
My problem is that I started messing around with the multiwindow tab thingy (trying to add apps to it) - and making a lONG story short, I just want to reset these two things back to the way they were. I've installed the MW Manager and the Pen Manager thing - but I also had something else installed (I think) that was causing a conflict. So now when I try to click on the little EDIT button on the sidebar, it crashes. Hitting the Air-Command thingy also does the same thing.
Anyway - aside from reflashing my phone , is there any way I can do this?
Thanks!

Menu buttons in the apps!

Hey there guys, I have this problem that is really bugging me.
I was using CM 10.2.1 and it ran perfectly, but eversince updating to CM11 it seems like the apps/system doesnt recognize that im running a galaxy s4 and therefor has an in-app menu button. So basickly in every app there is a dedicated menu button like there would be if your device doesnt have one off screen, and it bothers me. Does anyone know how to fix this on CM 11?

PIE Inhibiting Bottom of Screen

I flashed PAC onto my Galaxy Note 10.1 just a few days ago when I ran across the PIE section in the settings, as I started toying with it I fell in love with how the nav bar was no longer hanging around the bottom all of the time, and I certainly liked PIE's interface better. However, ever since I started using the bottom 1/2 inch (interestingly about the size of the nav bar) hasn't been responsive to any touch input other than PIE. For example, if I was typing something, only the top of the spacebar would recognize a touch as a space, but the other, bottommost part would still operate if I swiped up to reveal PIE.
Is anyone aware of a fix to this problem, or is it just a tradeoff of having PIE, and this is just the way it is?

You can disable pie from the settings menu. You should also consider upgrading to 4.4 as JB is no longer receiving updates.
Well I know that I can disable PIE, but I want to know if the bottom of the screen not being functional is just something I have to deal with or if there is something that I can do about it.
I'm not aware of a 4.4 update for PAC for my device. I'm willing to try a nightly release, but I'm not sure how to tell what version a ROM is from the name of the .zip.
For example, what version is: pac_n8013-nightly-20140122.zip ? I can't anything except for "pac", "n8013" (my model no.), "nightly", and "2014".
The "0122" I'm not sure of.

You can move the pie trigger to the side of the screen to see if you get the full touch screen back...
0122 is the date of the nightly build. Up to 0128 is 4.3 and from 0303 will be PAC-4.4

Thank you for the clarification. I could be missing something, but there are no ROMs that have any release after 0128 (which I have now) for my device.
Seems like I'll have to wait for an update to roll around, but until then I'll keep playing with the settings and see if perhaps I have something not set properly.

Hybrid Properties
As I was thinking about the correlation between this problem and the nav bar, I realized that the nav bar was likely still active, but not visible because I clicked on the PIE fullscreen button in the quick settings. So I went to Hybrid Properties, clicked on interface, and set the "Nav. bar" slider to 0%, and clicked Apply. When that didn't work, I went back to that screen and found that the Nav. bar slider was all the way back at 100%. I've tried several times to get this to work, including adjusting the "Size" slider, clicking "Tablet UI" in the Launch screen and applying that, but nothing has stopped that slider from returning to it's default setting. Anyone know why this might be?
