Change user agent in samsung browser - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I change the user agent in the Samsung browser?
I'm trying to do online banking and it seems to be the only browser that supports client certificates. However the bank only supports IE and FF. If I could just fool it...

Doubt you can do it with the stock browser (at least not easily/don't know if you can do it even 'with difficulty'; not motivated enough to find out).
Just as easy to use FF for when you need to use online banking on your phone, and there are working user agent switchers for FF/Android if you need to stooge a site into thinking you're using IE (Phony/Custom User-Agent String).

WAP settings on 8125???

I am wondering if there is a way to configure my cingular 8125 to go to the real web site and not the wap version. it does this for espn, yahoo, cbssportsline and others. i would prefer to browse the real net.
I believe this is a function of the websites checking your browser version and returning content they deem appropriate.
Check by installing another browser on your device, perhaps one that is not widely used, and try loading those same web pages.
there is a registry tweak for PIE that makes websites think its a regular desktop browser. i did it before on my ipaq. i don't know it right now, sorry.
Other than that if you want a better browser and you want to view regular html websites get the OPERA browser. I use it all the time. Its like Firefox but mobile.
i have tryed to download the opera browser but something isnt working right. can someone help with that

Getting internet programs to connect without IE

My Schools network uses clean access agent, which checks to make sure your windows device has the correct authentication. It will not let me go on ie, as it sees that I do not have the correct Virus protection etc. However it lets you use Opera, as it just lets it bypass the checks because none are in place for it.
I can use Opera or Skyfire, that isn't a prob. But when I try to use a program that connects to the Internet such AIM or QuickGPS, It won't work. Im assuming that the program is using IE to access the data. Although I have no idea how a program connects to the Internet (Does it use a browser?) Anyway, is there a way I can change the settings to get the program to use Opera?
Thanks,
I'm not sure that it will work, but you could try changing your default browser.
There are many threads in the forum with this information, Here's one, do a search for others.
hey, if you talk to your university's computer support team, they may tweak their internet settings so mobile browsing can work. i go to western connectisut state university, and i e-mailed the computer center with this problem (i dormed on campus and the ResiNET they used blocked me as well b/c i didnt install clean access agent. the university's network read my device as if it was a desktop since they blocked me saying i needed to install that ****ty software). once i did that, they e-mailed me back saying they updated their systems so i was able to use the web-based login, and then i began surfing the net. once u logged in, you should be able to update the GPS & use AIM with no real problems.
i hope this helps! there isn't a real way to bypass the system. believe me, i tried searching for ways to bypass the system. changing your default browser won't remedy it b/c the network only reads IP addresses and the fact information (doesn't matter what it is) is being pass through its network, it will block it without proper ID keys from the web-based log in. i even tried searching for a mobile version of cisco clean access agent but there isnt such software. like i said, talk to your university computing center and they can help you. it is really up to them to be able to change the settings around.

Clean Access Agent on WMO?

Hi.
I would like to use my HTC Touch HD with the WiFi at school. The only problem is that the WiFi is protected with something called Clean Access Agent. I've got this on my laptop, and it allows me to connect. Is it possible to install this program on a WMO?
Thanks
Hi Bungieman, I have run into this problem as well, and have not yet found any solutions here. I know it is impossible to install CAA on your phone as they do not have a cab for a mobile version. The only thing you can do at this point is contact your IT department. I believe CAA is able to bypass certain MAC addresses, (your phone has a specific one) but the people who install it must change that.
Programs that use Opera, Skyfire, or Safari should work, as CAA has no way to monitor those and lets those through. (That is why everyones Iphone works )
Hope this helps!
So the standard browser, Opera Mobile, should bypass the stupid program? I can't believe so many schools and universities from so many different countries use this program on a regular base. It takes both me and my classmates 15 minutes to start and log on to it. And it keeps bugging up. Yuck.

Where can i change the user agent string in PIE?

Hi,
My carrier has customised home pages dependent on the handset model.
Since im using the HD2 which is not issued by my carrier, i plan to use the Samsung i8000 user agent string so that i get similar resolution and dont have to zoom in every time i load a page.
Does any one know where i can change the user agent string in Pocket Internet Explorer in the HD2?
I cant use Opera because i cant access '3' sites using their APN as Opera uses its own servers to minimise data.
Thanks in advance.
I think there's an option in Opera Mobile to turn off "opera turbo", so then it doesn't use the opera proxy server and you'll get a direct connection, etc.
Otherwise, use a registry editor and look under HKLM/Software/Microsoft and HKCU/Software/Microsoft- there's likely to be a setting in there for Internet Explorer and something related to user agent, etc. Probably worth writing down what it is before you change it though!

[Q] How Does Sprint (or Carrier) Differententiate Data...

from Phone and Hotspot? How do they determine if the data being used is from my smartphone and not from my laptop via the phone's hotspot?
The easiest way would be to look at the user agent string your web browser sends out. It is different than that of the browser on your handset.
Other than that, they really can't tell. They just guess based on usage.
I hope that's not all because my browsers are set with desktop user agent.
